What I love about this Dc animated run is every movie contributes to the overall story. You don’t see it now but something is picked up from each movie and when the finale comes, it all makes sense. Pretty great. This one didn’t seem that great when I first saw it but by the end I realized it’s importance.

The teen titans are easily my favorite group of heroes of all time, especially Raven. As someone who grew up with the original cartoon I love this movie and the next few involving them too, and the Kami Garcia comics SLAP. The mainstream dc comics stuff also has some seriously awesome things happening for the titans the past 2/3 years. Definitely great time to be a fan, i hope Gunn does these characters serious justice
@@kuivia I mean, definitely not what It coulda been but they’ve been screwed over with their crap budgets every single season and that’s honestly hindered them SO much. I think there are definitely some narrative choices that haven’t exactly worked but overall it’s not nearly as bad as people say it is, and I don’t think any of the issues with the show stem from the cast. I love all the actors and they’ve pretty much nailed their roles, it’s just the choices the writers make that do them dirty sometimes. But it has some pretty good stuff not gonna lie, action scenes have always been 10/10 too like idk who they hired for it but I hope they bring those people into some other projects because seriously their pretty dope with the choreo. I think this show will be a good example for future writers about what works and what doesn’t for these characters. The newest season has been the best and the closest I’ve ever felt they’ve been most similar to the original cartoons/comics dynamics. So overall yeah it def coulda given us more then it did but still not a horrible ride, but honestly the cast performances make up for the writing sometimes for me. I’d like to see the stuff that worked adapted into future live action projects for these characters for sure

Mind control was always a weird concept to me in comics. Realistically characters like Superman and Flash would instantly kill everyone effortlessly since no one is anywhere as fast as they are
I feel like the energies of being in a hellish dimension gave Beast Boy the ability to take on more monstrous appearances. It might be a reference to the Werebeast form that he can take in the og TT series from the 2000s. Also that series and these movies show just why Raven is so underrated
No thanks. It’s fine for the DCAMU but in the comics Raven is in the same generation as Dick so if they ever do the titans in the DCU I’d prefer that keep it that way.

In the original wolfman comics her love interest was Wally West/ Kid flash. In the 90s she also was romantically interested in Nightwing and extremely jealous of starfire. She even crashed their wedding when she was temporarily evil. It wasn’t until The johns run and the cartoon the two started to be linked romantically. And that has since become the standard romance for the two of them.
Yeah, for us that were knee-deep in the DCAU while the movies were bombing, we were just living, and yeah, until this version of Damien Dick was my favorite Robin, but I ended up loving Damien so much I followed him into the super sons comics and have yet to be disappointed.
I really love this movie and i hope DCU do their teen titans formation similar to this, like: Nightwing, Starfire, Raven, Beastboy, Bluebeetle and Bumblebee

Only thing I can think of that was different was Night Wing had just barely stopped being Robin and was sorta confused about his future, and obviously there wasn't yet a Damian.. also Terra is the daughter of the king of Markovia (which makes her Geo Forces half brother) and not from nobody parents who abandoned her.. but besides that, I mean even the relationships were similar, right down to Deathstroke sleeping with like a 16 year old Terra was true to the Judas contract run....

Honestly this portrayal of the Teen Titans and especially of Raven are my favorite on screen versions since the original Teen Titans cartoons. In the making of features one of the writers said that Raven is almost an allegory for all teenage girls who are told to keep their emotions in check as they go through puberty. What makes Raven complex is that she literally can’t allow herself to feel any heightened emotions because since they are tied to her powers if her emotions run wild then so to do her powers. Hence the almost permanent emo attitude.

@@Hellohellonada What I'm referring to is the target audience which are kids and teenagers. They grew up with the original Batman Animated Series, Justice League Unlimited, etc. When the show started airing they're probably in their very late teens or early young adulthood which wasn't the target demographic. I for one watched the early DC animated series as well but when the Teen Titans show first aired I was part of the target audience because I was in my early teens.
I've read enough Titans comics to genuinely treat the JL as recurring antagonists for them. The JL coming in and throwing orders around - despite the Titans not normally being affiliated with them - is an ever-present threat XD With that background, I always liked that in this film the Titans get to say "OK JL, you're used to dealing with the big problems, but you aren't the slightest bit prepared for Raven's, so we'll take it from here."
Please don’t skip Constantine: City of Demons as you go through the DCAMU. Some people leave it out of rankings and reviews, but it’s a full length movie and is canon so it should be included in my humble opinion. It also might be the darkest superhero film I’ve ever seen, so I think your reactions would be really interesting

Cyborg is always going to be a titan first in my opinion, he and beast boy have the best brotherly relationship in comics period. Dick Grayson is the biggest player in any comic book world ever he dated Zatana Batgirl Supergirl and Starfire to name a few. I always prefer Raven with Beast Boy the jokey attitude of beast boy works as a good contrast to Ravens dark personality.
Damians slow but sure character development starting from Son of Batman is soo good. Like if u watvh just this movie u will feel he changed quickly...but the change actually has been going on for many movies
So we enter the Damianverse, basically rehashing elements of the classic show but swapping Dick and Cyborg for Damian and Blue Beetle. For me it was okay, never really was sold on the Damian and Raven romance if I'm honest but they do improve on it in later movies, the whole saga really relied on Bats and Damian a lot, as well as the whole 'best at everything with prep' meme for both, and that kinda started feeling more repetitive here.
Bro, James Gunn would do such an amazing Teen Titans movie, it is exactly literally in his range of style. These DCAMU movies are so good too, this gotta be my favorite reaction series🔥🔥

I hope if James Gunn ever re introduces the teen titans into the new DCU that beast boy actually transforms into animals multiple times and more quickly than in the the tv show Titans. It's the same issue I have with Martian Manhunter on Supergirl. He rarely used his powers to transform or any of his other powers. I understand budget restraints that's why I looking forward to HBO Max shows and the movies as they will have larger budgets.
33:45 fun fact, Batman did this to green lantern many times during this series. The turn and smile while saying nothing. This goes to show how alike they are, they did a great job of fleshing Damien out.

Cyborg is always going to be a titan first in my opinion, he and beast boy have the best brotherly relationship in comics period. Dick Grayson is the biggest player in any comic book world ever he dated Zatana Batgirl Supergirl and Starfire to name a few. I always prefer Raven with Beast Boy the jokey attitude of beast boy works as a good contrast to Ravens dark personality.
Damians slow but sure character development starting from Son of Batman is soo good. Like if u watvh just this movie u will feel he changed quickly...but the change actually has been going on for many movies

So we enter the Damianverse, basically rehashing elements of the classic show but swapping Dick and Cyborg for Damian and Blue Beetle. For me it was okay, never really was sold on the Damian and Raven romance if I'm honest but they do improve on it in later movies, the whole saga really relied on Bats and Damian a lot, as well as the whole 'best at everything with prep' meme for both, and that kinda started feeling more repetitive here.
Sometimes the animation team working in these DC Animated Movie Universe movies REALLY makes some choices… specifically with visualizing the women

I hope if James Gunn ever re introduces the teen titans into the new DCU that beast boy actually transforms into animals multiple times and more quickly than in the the tv show Titans. It's the same issue I have with Martian Manhunter on Supergirl. He rarely used his powers to transform or any of his other powers. I understand budget restraints that's why I looking forward to HBO Max shows and the movies as they will have larger budgets.
Safe to say James Gunn's DCU will be like this universe

Also glad to see you guys react to some of the other animated stuff DC has put out. Can’t wait to see you guys work your way through it all until Justice League Dark and the more recent epilogue movie as well. Also you asked about some Teen Titans comic recommendations. I’d say give Geoff Johns run on Teen Titans a go.

The Justice League was nerfed so bad in these movies.
That was Terra at the end. The Judas Contract is next for the Titans.
Although it's not very focused in these movies, the relationship between Nightwing and Starfire is very enjoyable. However I definitely prefer Barbara with him in the comics.
This may be my favorite of the DCAMU films.
