Exellent Test!!! and Great ductility for such a high Rockwell plate!! Top Marks :-))
Interesting that it was able to handle close to the new RF2 rating of 3250 fps.. Thanks for the test, now I have some data for my workflow on this plate :D
That's pretty cool man. Love the budget items!
You should check out Bulletproof-It. I got their lvl 4 ceramic plates for $250 shipped for a pair. They are multicurve ESAPI cut, multi-hit rated, and feel like they are much higher quality than I was expecting. I would really like to see a review on them, since there aren't really any out there. I think they would be a high value budget option that you would be pleased with. Also, I ordered them in December, and they only took a week to get to me, when everywhere else was stating month or more lead times.
At 90 bucks a plate, it's a fair deal, however for only 10 bucks more per plate, you can get multi curve, NIJ rated level 3+ from Spartan Armor Systems or you can get multi curve level 3+ from Caliber Armor. Or you spend the extra 40 bucks per plate, and get a far superior level 3+ multi curve plate with a build up coating from Caliber Armor. As for a carrier, how does it compare to the AR500 Armor Vertias with cummerbund (135 bucks) or the Testudo (155 bucks)?
You have to test for spall protection on the sides using a box with pork cops or steak attached, surrounding the armor plate we all need to see the fragmentation issues please retest. As you have read the other comments steel plate must be tested for this in the future tests.
Insane!
Just picked mine up. Hope I never have to use it.
SO were these with the base coating or the build up spalling coat?
What i noticed with RTS their level III is AR550 steel which is technically III+ ( AR500 is usually III ) and their III+ IS Ar600 steel.
This would be awesome with a kevlar spawl sleeve
Well...How heavy is one.... Thank you......
I was able to keep my MILITARY vest from Iraq.
I have an ear necklace from Vietnam. Throw in a shotgun and I'll consider a deal.
I ordered the lv3+ kit but received lv3 plates😭
I’ve been wanting body armor for a while. Bought the multicam carrier with the base plates. Now I gotta get some mag pouches and medical pouches
Nice
Why didn't you get ceramic
Strap meds to your legs
@@scottashe984 put meds on each limb! May as well right?
Well if we get another stimulus I know what I'm ordering 😂
Not a bad investment considering the political climate.
SURPRESSORS!
Send that plate carrier to me when your done testing
Glock with factory sights and a Palmetto State Armory AK-74 of which you purchased your own cleaning rod. Where'd you get the cleaning rod lol??? I have a 74 as well. 👍😆
That’s a Riley Defense AK 74 video posting soon
@@704TACTICAL I kneel corrected. 👍✌️

Awesome quality plate
Stick with ceramic
Why when you can get RMA armament level four four close to same price especially on day Black Friday
Impressive
Well, let me grab the wallet. Thanks for the video and info. I Love this channel.
Steel sucks dont do it
@@IsnipeZz .....what do you prefer?
for the love of God do not buy steel
@@offthewallhobbyman6978 I've got nearly 20 years of private contracting, and me and my guys don't use anything but AR500 brand lvl 3+ steel plates.
Take that however you wish...
What's the best level 4 steel plate to
Buy? And what's the best spall sleeve to
Buy? Anyone?
No steel. Get ceramic. On the cheap, get RMAdefense , on the higher end I'd go Hesco. Steel will get you killed .
@@ebhsports6251 even with spall sleeves? Sorry not trying to sound stupid I'm just ignorant on the subject
229.00? cant find that. can you send me a link?
Save your money, buy ceramic level 4s. These plates are heavy as hell compared to others and you still run the risk of spalding. Furthermore, there's no such thing as nij lv 3+. Im not being biased as i ran these same plates over a year. While these plates will stop rounds you are accepting alot of risk.
Steel sucks. I started out with TSG iii+ "lightweight" steel plates and they were still 6.5lb each.
Too damn heavy and I'm not young anymore.
Switched to iii+ pe plates and then recently to the thinner TSG iii+ ASP plates at 3.1 pounds per plate.
The carrier is so much more comfortable and mobility is improved 100%.
ASP plates are RF2 and tested to defeat m193, m855, and m855a1.
They're a slightly scaled down version of the iii+ extreme. Don't have the aramid face to catch ceramic pieces.
there price must have gone up..i just paid over 600 (with a few small add-ons) The base set was 479.99
Why would you pay this much for steel plates?
Have you ever tried tacticon armament plates?
No but I would like too
@@704TACTICAL I ordered there plates 2 weeks ago because they don't charge for the curve or spall coating and with trauma pads it was half the price of AR500 plates. I also bought there battle belt after seeing your review of it
@@heathsemer3882 Got me interested in a review of these too...
@@bigd7861 tacticon also gives you a batch number and you can watch a video of them shooting a piece of steel that was apart of the master sheet that your plates were cut from
@@heathsemer3882 Interesting. I've got nearly 20 years of private contracting, and I've been running AR500 brand lvl 3+ steel plates for YEARS. But, I'm always open to something that's as good, or better, and easier on the bank account! A review on this company is a must! 👍
That + 3 & RHINO is no slouch
Or the plates
I have on conceal save life defense and one ar500 and ar600 wating for stimulus for the lvl 4 🤫😭😂🤑
Anyone want to go over why steel armor is dangerous? Bullet fragmentation etc.
Its even more dangerous not having and armor. Besides you can spray on your own liner.
@@adaboy4z liners... What guarantees you know what type of round, caliber, distance you might take a hit from? Or even what shot angle? 20in barrel for 556 can punch straight through with FMJ.
@@tactical_goku will not go through 3+ steel
@@tactical_goku You where talking about coating, fragments..?
@@adaboy4z I'm provoking educational discussions about the data guys. Add in what you know. Do you have any informational input?
Yo, don't be suggesting plates that ain't multi curve. MULTI CURVE IS KING.....for comfort, forreal
People still buy steel armor? Yeah, that's so 2012. Lmao
But seriously guys theres some REALLY affordable ceramic options out there. Like 100 bucks per plate guys. ONLY reason why I would consider steel plates is 20 year shelf life... that's it.
Right? That’s so 2010 and liberal California casual civilian thinking and it’s ok. Lol

Yes ar60020 try that
@@matheusresend3 Dude! I've been searching RUclips videos and browsing comments for an hour looking for a code that works! Thank u!! Just saved me $40!
I understand the testing lower cost packages. If I can recommend anything to anyone looking at steel plates....dont. I did it. I trained with them. I bought an inexpensive carrier.
Buy a comfortable, ergonomic, and modular carrier. Buy non steel plates. Theyre not that much more and lighter.
Sometimes bulk is an issue. If you are in and out of a vehicle ceramic bulk can get in your way. For 3 gun I use steel on my front and occasionally ceramic on the rear to lower weight unless it’s a very dynamic course and I may be crawling under barriers or the like and then it’s steel everywhere. My home kit is actually reversed with steel on the back and ceramic on the front and kidney and crotch covers.
Ceremaic is great but i will always stick to steel. Im not a fan of having my internals crushed and broken.
@@john-paulsilke893 for hd you think you'll have time to throw on a carrier? Do you have any shingles or placards on it too? You also are going as far as side and groin armor?
@@rainbosprinkles6548 no my home kit is on the back of the bedroom door and guns are locked. I can slip on the armour in about 3-4 seconds and get a decent fitment. But I have little children so the guns are locked. They will take 10 seconds minimum to get so other things are to hand as well as a “hidden wall that blocks off the bedrooms and is capable of stopping 3A threats, (it’s a pullout panel floor to 5 1/2ft tall and can only slow down bad people but it takes 1-2 seconds to deploy and the kids use it to stop the dog so very easily to slide).
And you saw the steel shredded lol a hot knife through butter. No thanks. You casual civilian shooters can stick to your shredded steel plates in liberal California. Let the big boys, police and us military stick to ceramic. Good day.

Do it right the first time. Get ceramic plates from RTS.
Most casual civilian shooters always say steel is the best which is simply not true. Both have their pros and cons. Most people in my state use SBRs suppressed which ceramic plates will absolutely stop. I am not going to liberal California where they have 30 inch barrels. Gtfo with that garbage.
I just don’t need to spend 400$+ per plate for the lighter weight. The plain Jane almost medieval level 3 steel plates also don’t shatter if dropped or form micro cracks from stress in the carrier which you literally have to X-ray regularly to prevent.

I don't get why they shoot so damn fast, does it look cool ? 😎 It looks stupid to me, wasting ammo, missing the entended target. One shot one hit ,makes more sense. ☝😉
