Nice to see Johnny travolta is doing concrete in these days
I had no idea John Travolta was a general contractor. Great video sir
After researching decorative concrete coatings for several years, I can tell you that won’t last. You can’t just pressure wash the drive way, you have to grind the top coat down untill you start to see stone. It will look peppered. Also, a rubberized system like elastideck from ez concrete supply, would last a hell of a lot longer then an over coat of Crete.
Stanley, You're a Star... I am not Kidding, Especially when you said Mix color with water... WOW!!.. WOW!!… Bravo!!!... And the rest is just as amazing.... You make Bob Vila look like the Cryptkeeper!
Appreciate the great comments, thank you !
Awesome detail and presentation! Well done!
Just a tip for when I do Ardex to measure the water evenly every single time cut a hole on the side of the bucket to the correct measurement of water so every time you scoop out of your bigger bucket you will have the same results
Awesome point!
Love that tip Chanse. Each worker sees the same line but somehow amount is different. Genius tip. Dummys it down to ensure consistency.
Thanks for the video! Excellently presented! The final result looks great and apparently you are working with a terrific product. Best of luck!
Just a heads up on the cordless mixer for the newbies. Have a spare battery on the charger!
Nothing like having your drill die while mixing and not have a backup batter available. LOL.
Very True! Goodpoint Hugh
That's why you just save money and buy a cheap harbor freight CORDED low speed drill (or 2) for messy jobs like this. No need to worry about batteries and since is a cheapie we don't care about the drill's health either. It's plenty capable of mixing watery mixes like flo coat.
thank you for this and the previous video for prepping and leveling
You're welcome Stephanie, thanks for viewing !
That exposed concrete look way better! What I matter for yourself Stanley?? lol 😂
After a decade of exposed concrete I needed something different and unique
Is there a part 3? Love to see the finished product
I was using something like that 20 yrs.ago to repair bridgetops it would generate it's own heat.but it would crack .its much better now
Thank you for the excellent information!
Glad it was helpful!
I love this color!
Thanks for watching Yovana !
"Flippers" will love this, though that's not necessarily a good thing. Thanks for posting, as always
True- its an easy way to repair a driveway.
This is nothing new. This stuff has been on the market under various brands for probably over a decade.
Very informative.
another great video stanley... thx! great job on Latimers podcast as well, i got ALOTT of value from
john travolta doing concrete work now lol
Do you have any new pictures of how it has held up over time
Can u do a video of how it looks now? Is it better then if u had gotten all new concrete?
hey mate. does this product also work on exposed ag that is not smoothed. currently have exposed ag driveway and is rough under foot, looking to smooth and then paint ? hoping this product will help with smoothing out.
Nice video ,would this work on around pool deck
Looks easy and fast
That's the goal 😀
Stanley, I have a patio that the previous owners put some type of concrete paint on it. Will the material you used still bond to that?
excellent tutorial.
Nice job
Hey woooo Makita hat and Milwaukee tools who's sponsoring this video here 😂
Will this work to be applied over a tiled driveway ?
Pretty cool 😎
Could this be done on a concrete ceiling??
One dude using a broom on one side, the other using a squeegee. How consistent is that?
Since it is let Stan have it day LOL .... I think what people are trying to say, but can't quite express, is that spray on would do a more uniform application, and we each have our own taste in color combinations. The job was pretty close, maybe some streaks. IMO, brushing, unless the brush costs more than the product can result in streaks. Running a squeegee on one side and brooming the other don't add up, either, unless it is some magic self-leveling product.
Stanley - Nice job, we install a lot of concrete overlays also. I haven't used this particular overlay material but I use a lot of elite crete and Ardex products.
Thanks Mike !
Power washing. Does it strip away concrete? Can I use it to clean my patio?
Hey Mr. Stanley how would you price driveway resurfacing? Average driveways are about 500 sq ft My friends and I have started a paving business and this looks like something we could easily implement instead of tearing up entire driveways. Thanks!
Man, that stuff is really touchy to work with.
Can I stamp it if I lay it out thick? Seems to me if you can spred it film thin all the way up to 1/2 inch, then a 3/8 inch stamp should be fine.
Can you put this over exposed aggregate surface?
would this work for garage floor?
What if my concrete is asphalt and it's really broken up I can still use it on there
Where can I buy the pro coat. Home depot don't have it
Thank you for sharing this useful clip ,i have a qoustion if you do not mind ,where can i buy the color (red color powder)and what is the brand of the color ?thanks
What is flow coat called in Español? We use something called Pegavitro.
Can I use this on an old basement floor?
Are u Richard Rawlins bro?..luv from ireland
John Travoltas long lost brother.
You mentioned that it has to be completed at one time, that you can't do half and then return the next day to finish it. Is that correct? I ask because I have to complete this by myself and it is a two car driveway.
Me covering your highway with poop after you called me unfunny:
I always see this stuff flaking off half a year after applied. Would love to see how this one looks now days. I have high expectations in you Stanley and hope this vid is not just a sell out..
I like the video it's meant to make us laugh. Concrete workers have concrete in their blood that's why the city looks beautiful. This one here it's Halloween make up. Temporary for a few months. But I laugh my ass off.
@@morisbarahona7732 what video or products do you recommend for a diy resurfacing?
Tell me he didn’t roll-out onto the apron just up to the asphalt !
OMG! He did! didn’t he ? Had to play that back for kicks.
What’s that guy thinking?
Can this work on a paved driveway?
I enjoy your videos
Thank you!
I have the same type of driveway and I hate it. Going to try this product on a small area for testing. Find out how it holds up.
How was it?
Are you using this product on an aggregate driveway?
Stan is there anything you don't do? Feel like that list is shorter
Dam bro!! Lots of haters here. Looks easy n good job!!! Thanks
Thank you !
thanks
Very nice
what was going on down at gutter, where the driveway meets the street...looked like it stained the road. If I were to use this I think I would not opt for a colour...just standard grey look.
Where can i get this product?
So how has this lasted?
Can resurfacing handle cold weather and salt or the salt will just eat away at the new overlaying product?
I will tell you after this winter LOL
You cant add it in like Skraffino? Sadly I agree with 145+ other commnets, the before looked better...But as he said it is for the process.
Can you stamp this stuff?
Hey , Stan, does the instructions say to wet the surface for better adhesion? Because in my field of work, water is something that you don't want when applying a coating because the water gets in the way of the coating and the surface that is to be adhered to. In other words, water blocks adhesion and will cause lifting.
In this case you need to pre-wet the surface.
Thank man you just saved me 1800.00
Are you kidding!!! I would have spent the $1800 to have it done right.
So where's part 3? I can't find it.
They all got fired
So how much per square foot? That pad is bigger than mine so I need to break it down to square feet. Is the product slippery when wet or with snow on it?
If you broom finish it its not slippery.
Looks great. I wish I could find someone interested in doing it for me professional. Everywhere I look there are no business willing to do it or even give me a bid.
I have many cracks on my double car garage driveway. Cracks range from 1/8" to 1/4" which appeared like spider webs and may not settle entirely. Some surfaces where the cracks were had lifted up to 3/8", which present a tripping hazard. Will this DIY resurfacing helps further deterioration of my driveway if proper prepping and leveling? If not, what other methods or options do I have without spending an arm and a leg. The replacement of my driveway would cost $5000 or more. Thanks.
I heard of a system that will even out the height difference, its like jacking up the lower side to meat the higher side, then the concrete is drilled several holes, a kind of foam is injected to fill the space under the concrete. I saw it done on a driveway, looks pretty good
How is wear and tear on this.
Can't find the product for sale
Well, the guy who owned the log cabin wanted it red. He might have been angry to see gray concrete! I thought about using that over my elderly driveway. Must look better than what I got.
Next summer...
The first link in your part 2 should point to part 1.
Can this product last for a long time with the cold weather that we have in Chicago
josephconnell74 no! Its basically like filling in pot holes or reblacking blacktop.. probably a year matanice depending where you live.
Can this type overlay stand up to a 30k lb motorhome? I need to refinish my driveway too. If you are doing this by yourself can you section it off and do it in sections(like between every expansion joint)? Thanks Stanley.
Hey Stan, did this last week to my driveway. We added dye to the water first and mixed very thoroughly. The color dried splotchy and streaky. Now I've got a streaky mess. Any tips?
He didn't answer Your question as yet, and a year has already passed ... How supportive ...
How had it held up?
Covering eyes at this.
As a once professional concrete person that looks horrible. I hope that was practice. I would have got it spread out and hit it with a Fresno trowel to even it all out.
I think it might look pretty decent if you get the technique down. Concrete finishing has an art to it.
Thanks Richard but that was the look I was going for. I wanted it to be rustic-since I live in a Log home but also have a different color than standard gray. For my application it turned out just the way I intended.
As a former builder I agree with Richard Blowers. It looks like a crappy DIY job. A project done at this skill level reduces home resale value.
The color is an eye sore. Poor neighbors. 😂
But not everyone buys a house as a financial investment. Many people buy a house to use it as a home and live in it for their whole life. As far as neighbors go, well, they can move if they want. There is no laws (in my area) that states that I must maintain my home in such a was as to keep my neighbors' property values from sinking. It's none of my concern that they bought a house as an investment tool rather than as a home.
Nice red...what's the name if coloring.is it a powder.available homedepot? Thanks
Said no one lol
@@clipseo boom bye bye
As a master concrete guy this looks like a hack job. Did you hire these guys at Home Depot
I am pretty sure this is the same guy from gas moneky garage. Maybe it was his before discovery channel job.
Not the lot here, they would be Mexicans.
I'm a masturbator guy and I agree it looks like a wack job.
Labor workers think they are worth more than they really are. That's why Mexicans come and take their damn jobs.
It seems like a really cool system. Does anyone know if this will hold up through a few hard winters?
That is my concern this might be great for warm weather states with no heaving, but cold weather will it crack and look horrible fast I just wonder yea know.
I will let you know how it holds up over this first winter.
Nice
Thanks Kenneth!
All the comments bout the look, its not done drying and setting up in vid end. Should look uniform when dry. Btw screet first coat with steel blade then top coat with squeege n broom.
Hey man. Just changed our workers comp coverage to covering us on construction instead of only landscaping and trees. And concrete is a different animal. Cal u do more concrete videos on finishing
Can this be applied over an old exposed aggregate patio?
I’d like to know this as well.
What would have looked awesome a clear non slip urethane to give the exposed concrete a wet look
Yes looked better before... like every one else said
What if the concrete underneath has cracks and heavy veins and splits? Will it show through this new work?
I repaired the splits and cracks in video #1
I'd love to see what looks like 6 years late?
You can control the torque on your drill will most of them
Edward Keenan he has limp wrists if you know what I mean
Sorry, but the exposed concrete looked much, much better. This looks awful.
THey need to do a sand and clean and add a 2nd coat with a smaller squeegee applicator to make it look right...IF the material is smooth enough. He said you cant mix batches, so this must be some harder material to work with, so I doubt I would use this in my jobs.
I agree that’s horrible
Looks like crap
I was throwing up when I saw they were covering that exposed aggregate.... WHYYYYY😩
it looked better before. that color/texture looks terrible.
Really! It just looks like they put a thick coat of epoxy paint over the exposed rocks! Terrible! It looks all uneven as well! I see several lighter/darker areas... Uughh
Agreed.Glad I don't have to look at this ever again.
True
Im looking for inspiration and this makes me want to keep plain concrete.
So you jacked up a good looking driveway..... I don't think Flo coat will like this finished product lol
@1:20 - Here's a "tip": WEAR A DUST MASK AND EYE PROTECTION!
Agreed. I am far from "Mr. Safety", I have seen guys on here in recent days put on more gear than a Crusader to change a light bulb, but I tiled my whole house, porch, and patio included without an N90 mask. Baaaaddd bronchitis.
Make equipment reviews or jobs gone bad please
I still like videos like this but I love the reviews and jobs gone bad
Will do!
Wow, come do my driveway and carport which has 3 coats of paint. Ugh
No need for the follow up video. I have seen enough.😝
It's good to have a changes sometimes👈
Very true Laura, thanks for viewing !
yea, i'd be pissed if i walked out and saw that. really pissed!
