I love you bro, but you was way out of groove for the first 5. This rest was sick. You captured the spirit. Kick ass.
@@avelinomike what are you smoking? He was dead nuts on for the entire opening fill or first 5...
Nice!
We drummer's found Father of Time and drank of his heart = Estepario ❤
What kind of Tom stands do you use? Just got a Morpheus kit with 3 mounted toms but they didn’t send any hardware. Any recommendations on the Tom mount gear?
I love how every metal head has a soft spot for this song 🤘
Do any other songs come to mind, aside from this one?
@@TheDjt1992 lol what you wont do for love by bobby cauldwell, and today was a good day by ice cube.
Yes i have 🤘
Soft spot my ass
...talent like this cannot go unnoticed
Facts! I've stuck this on at many a party and everyone, I mean EVERYONE digs it!
It's just a really fucking awesome song, it's feel good but it's technically brilliant too... an 80's masterpiece for sure!
I also have a massive soft spot for Duran Duran, A Flock of Seagulls and a good few other British 80's pop bands, there's definitely some diamonds in the rough from that era!
One of the best composed songs of all time
Insane
Those polyrhythms man, my brain ouch
so that’s what those off speed change ups are called?! polyrhythms? they seriously scramble my brain lol
Insane! Incredible talent!
I thought they were modulations.
Syncopation?
@@DoppeD yeah those metric modulations made my brain go brrr
My favorite song of all time. Covered by my favorite drummer of all time. What a day to be alive!
Get outta my heeeeead
I don't even remember saying this,😂😂😂
yep 100% agree
Get a life. Please.
How did he pull off those poly rhythms?!?! I’m not a traditional drummer (vocalist, acoustic guitar, conga) and I’m simply so blown away… absolutely inspiring !!!
Snare on the 2
Next measure, snare on the 3
Next measure, snare on the 4
EZ
@@chrispysaid, thank you for breaking it down... now to try and separate my fingers...
The polyrhythms are way easier than the super fast floor Tom/kick stuff he does IMO
@@queenpurple8433, the whole thing is mind blowing
Je trouve que c est un peu trop chargé
Dude, you are going to vault into being one of the best drummers on the planet. You have redefined what people can do with drums. Your style is not just speed, but style, technique and melodies. Wow, just wow.!
for me its the fact he NEVER EVER makes any mistakes like who else is even capable of that... eloy does lol and hes definitely in the same category as eloy
He never will be….. drum machine cannot ever be held in the same regard as all of the greats.
Such perfection can’t be achieved by a human. I’m convinced he’s a drummer robot from the future
@@brettknibbs9351he don’t got shit on Nate smith
@@brettknibbs9351 Well I'm sure he would be the first to admit he makes plenty of mistakes however, this is entertainment and I would imagine he wants to present a beautiful session...therefore, no mistakes.
@@joshd108 humans make robots. Robots don't make humans.
Im a metal fan, but love the 80s new wave covers...and R&B and Rock, and Electronica and hand pan and yeah basically everything.
Same. Metal is a child of the 80s too 🤘
Same here man. Great stuff
Indeed. Proggy rock/metalhead here, and Tears For Fears are one of my all time favourites (i have many favs😊). El Estepario had fun w this, adding his flair!✊
Same
100% Agree!!!
1.1k people don't understand polyrhythms
catches you off guard dont it, brilliant
It sound like that Just cos of the drums or all the track is changed?
I came here to say the same thing
The prefix "poly" means many. "Many rhythms". Appropriately named for when there are many rhythms being played at the same time 😂
Lol, they don't have to...cool cover, but if the original was like this, it never would have made it...there's room for everything
Every time Estepario uploads a masterpiece, is a gift to the world. It is an absolutely privilege to have you amongst us humans
OK..I am going to say it........I am 70+ years old.....I have been playing drums since I was 5.....I made a living playing......You are the ABSOLUTE BEST drummer/percussionist/musician I have ever seen!!!!!!
Then you haven’t see many lol
As a bass player....man I'd love to play beside him! Timing is SO solid. El Estepario....you sir need to do some Rush covers!
From Metal to 80's classics, this guy has it all. So much sound from a simple kit. This one, Ah Ha's Take On Me, and Dire Straights Sultan of Swing are just the best.
I'm a pure Metalhead, through and through but this is a tune 👌 🎶
1:56 that nose scratch lol dude what a way to keep it going. You're incredible !
Technique never wins over “serving the song”
Elided phrasing, polyrhythms, and the embracing of that amazing syncopation in 3/4. Epic. You'll be re-inventing the wheel with the jazz musicians in your new band. Epic.
Would ABSOLUTELY LUV A RUSH TUNE. RIP Neil Peart 🙏🏻
I love neil peart drumming very much but please dont play like him, he kill his spine with that bad posture😢
good call!
I as well would love to hear what could be done to augment a Rush song. Neil Peart is a drumming genius, but there is always more ways to percussively back a song!!!
I'd love to see Red Sector A
Temples of Syrinx!!!🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
WOW! One of the best tunes from the 80's elevated by such superb playing!
its amazing just how good that was and just how easy he made it look .. anyone who has played drums knows that was a master class right there
This gentleman is right off the chart. He is almost too good for any band to be able to blend with.
He'd be great in a Progressive Metal band, such as Symphony X or Dream Theater.
YES
he even suggest there's a drummer better than him 😵💫
Absolute banger, loved the off time on the snare phrase.
I was waiting for someone to mention that. It was dope.
As a drummer this is definitely an addicting rhythm. So many options for fills. Excellent take Señor Siberiano.
Beautiful. Love how you can still hear the original with some style mixed in.
Can't beleive I've only just came accross this drummer. As a drummer myself and watching drummers for 20 years plus. This guy is an absolute drum God 😳 Where have you been hiding lol 👍
I just recently stumbled on this channel too and am baffled how I was unaware. This guy is a machine. How the hell is he not in the main media spotlight?
The epitome of a COVER!!! I love how you can communicate with other drummers like myself by going offbeat and then bringing it back around on 1. KEEP IT UP BROTHER!
Yeah I noticed that too. Very tight
I’m not a drummer and I caught those too 🤘 But I am an amateur producer of electronic music so I guess that helps with rhythm lol
What? Tears for Fears. This guy never disappoints me in the choice of cover..Cant wait!!
crazy how this groove falls out of time and then comes back in line with the melody... You make it look so easy bro...
Non drummer mind blown once again. When I watch you I can almost recognize the time changes but it hurts my brain in a good way.
Dude, you blow me away. This here, a tears for fears song, a step away from the insane speed shows versatility. Im just throwing it out there, have you ever tried Rush? I can't even begin to fathom what your take on Neil peart would be.
So smooth, loose and clean.....yet so TIGHT!!! 🤪 I'm a metal head, but I loved this. Would love to see some jazz covers in double time.
Absolutely love the modulation changes man! I knew you'd come thru strong on this one! Absolutely one of my favorites! Cheers from Florida bro! 🎉❤
The Groove Father never disappoints absolutely beautiful drumming!
Hola Estepario! Thank you so much for your version of this song. What a journey man!! So refreshing and cool variety of rhythms. I love it.
This cover literally made me laugh. Because this was probably the last song i’d ever expect him to cover. And of course, he fucking killed it
Matt Garstka though.
That's the beauty of being a musician as they can hear things that others only listen to.
MORE PLEASE !!!!!
Damn right he did!!!
The modulation and the finesse on that hi-hat were delicious. Distrokid sponsored a masterclass there.
No words needed, You are the drum whisperer, so much sound from a basic drum kit..
I play Trumpet, keyboards & drums, I have been playing probably longer the you have been alive.. You are an oddity, once in an age do you see a prodigy with that much talent.. My children & grandchildren can play and are very talented, my youngest of 12 grandchildren (9) is a prodigy too, he can play anything, drums are his escape, he is extremely gifted, in about 5 to 10 years, you may be beat.. Thank you for sharing.. I have seen all your video's & shorts. My grandson has too and you inspired him to be the best.. Thank you..
"make the most of freedom and of pleasure"
proceeds to add the coolest poly rhythms and fast but always soulful fills to an amazing song. Congrats on making the most of freedom and of pleasure. We're lucky to have this awesome drum cover!
I can't wrap my head around how great this guy is. My man is playing spot on and he just smoked a spliff! Hats off to you.
Always smoking a spliff helps in this regard.
@@HamiltonVanMan words of wisdom.
That change in tempo is class!! Respect brother.
I love this song and have since I first heard it back in the 80's. I didn't think it was possible but you made it sound even better. Thanks for sharing this.
Those chops / pocket groove / and the many didlets you did are 🔥keep it up. Best drummer I recommend to everyone
It seems as the song is following you, no matter what you do. Crazy stuff, man. Pure magic on drums. Really another level.
I’ll be honest I went into this already thinking it was gonna be grievously overplayed. I was wrong. Great song, great cover
I know, right. Me too. Triple..blasts...blasts...triple...But, well done Siberiano. You are amazing.
You were wrong? Are we fans of the same dude?
@@billmint8122 tbh he kept it simple but accented the pocket and just really did it justice. Very well done
It is overplayed.
@@Erickhetfield if he was just going to drum straight, we know he can do that, and that would be a boring video. The point of a cover is to evolve the song in some way.
Why do I find this song so chill and yawn inducing relaxing, huh? The melancholy vibe is so relaxing. A perfect song for a lazy cool day.
I found you about a couple of months ago and have gone down many rabbits holes on your channel. Out of all your speed drumming 💪 and you Spanish flavor music (which I love and think is better). This is the best song of yours I’ve seen yet! 🔥
The tempo change is mad, wow!
Yeah. I'm seriously having a tough time even wrapping my head around those 😮
It’s a mad world..
Tempo didn't change throughout the whole song though
Nice !!!! I used to play that with both hands doing triplets on the high hat - start at 1 on the right hand and left does snare duty. Not even on the same planet as good as you though.
One of the first things I read about drumming (50 years ago) was learning the note(s) not to play. You didn't crowd that too much and man you've got that kit sounding soooo goood. A lot of your demos are about sheer speed an agility.. and no-one does it better than you! but that demo let the reverb and sustain of the drums shells come through.. awesome.
I get so much entertainment and joy from watching and listening to you play. Thank you! ❤️
You are amazing! I like watching the side angle better. Thanks for being awesome and making these incredible videos! Your dedication looks so impressive!
It's Refreshing to see Maturity in your playing. Very good Job.
Very nice, love the changes all through this and super creative, timing is everything here.
A lot going on here, so effective.
Not overplayed he complimented all parts of this song and made it better
What he does with a Bass Drum, Tom and Snare is incredible. He is so versatile with a small kit and he sounds huge.
the most important thing about you is you are a very humble and kind man with unmatched talent. Love your vids and I dont even drum..... Thank You my friend.
I have listened some of his covers but this song has been worked out pretty well. His play and technique is always outstanding but this drum cover is written on this song perfectly.
I love the sound of your snare drum, so powerful and tight!
The snare is damned perfect
I've heard this song countless times and never realized how cool it can be!
6/8 is the most expressive time signature. It’s round, not square. So many ways to interpret the rhythm and feel…..polyrhythms rule.
Sidebar….I’ve always loved this song since I was a kid and my older sisters blasted it on their boom boxes in the 80s! I jammed to this and many other 80s hits on my ice cream bucket drum kit!😅
Bro I am late and just discovered you! You are so inspiring!! I wish you nothing but the best!
This cover is one of the best I’ve ever seen. Love the displacement of the original rhythm here and there. Fantastic!!!
Peace and love brother!! ✌️❤️
Its funny that of all the over-the-top covers you've done, it seems you are focusing a lot in this one, which I understand because it's a challenging "simple" song to play on its own before you add your flavor to it. Well done!!!
It’s great to watch you in a "real" context playing covers. Keep ‘em coming 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
So I’m new here and binging on this channel… especially the 80’s stuff. Love it! He’s amazing.
Its fantastic you do covers from 80s and 90s, keep on doing man! Its great!
That was surprisingly tasteful, I thought it couldn't be done....but as always you impress and amaze! Love your work!
Love this and this guy. Finally get to hear him grooving without tons of overplaying. Not that I mind overplaying but this was more approachable for me as a groove drummer than most of his stuff which is on another planet! Keep grooving brother, awesome as usual!
Without overplaying?? Please, listen to the original track! This drumming was fully unnecessary!! 😂
Uhh this is absolutely overplayed lol... but for entertainment/youtube stuff it's fun. But yeah this wouldn't go on any track for any real recording as it doesn't respect any of other instruments.
ok, ok...you didnt explode from a steady beat for almost 6 min..I'm a little shocked, but glad you did this live on RUclips..A whole tune from your eclectic drumming..thanks..❤
WOW, I am knocked out by this guy, not only one of my all time fave tracks but the drumming was phenomenal!
Saw you first on "shorts" and then looked you up and now this, what an amazing sound you create and the work you put in is really fantastic. Thanks so much, I am looking at more of your video's now as totally new to what you do.
More 80's songs pls!!! Do them all!!! Never heard drums and chops like you man. Keep it up 🙏👌
Yea, play U.S. Drag by Missing Persons! That would be cool.
Yesss!!!!
0:18 / 0:27 es magia pura de Estepario ! Oro puro !
You ARE THE MAN. I cannot explain the joy I get from watching you drum. Thank you so much.
There's just something about this style of 80's music. It definitely brings me back to my childhood for sure.
My favorite song of all time covered by my favorite drummer. Well done!
The hardest part of this cover is unhearing the original song in your head, then infusing it with those intricate layers (I don't know what they're called, Polyrhythms something) Overall bro delivered his signature playful style, awesome.
Sujou a música todo ! Do jeito que eu gosto de fazer. RSRSRSRS 😅😂😅 Ficou muito SHOW !!!
WOW! Well done! There is still hope for us all with kids like this taking things to the next level. Not static, stagnant, repeats but a whole other level.
You know you have to do Shout next. That's going to be awesome for sure!
Sempre impressionado com Músicas boas.
Um Salve do Brasil.
Cheers.
I loved this one. Your style and interpretation of this unique tune was very entertaining and your metrics’s mind bending
Absolutely not enough words! Appreciate you so much! Thank you for all your hard work.
I hope for the world that the band sees him, saw them live in 2019. They love covers of this song, amazing stuff as always, you took off!
I can't believe this, just a couple of days ago I was going to ask you if you could cover this song! You can read peoples minds? Fantastic cover, thank you !
The flashiness of your usual videos is awe inspiring but... good god, I have to say that somehow I'm even more impressed by your groove. Stunning.
This is absolutely insane!!! 🤩
Bro how you going to make a TFF song sound this technical and badass. What a masterpiece. 🤯
Love watching every video you put out. Amazing stuff!
Always been a favorite of mine. Gotta love the smooth lyrical flow. Great job!
Greatest drummer, drumming one of the greatest songs. Amazing, like always!
Look man. The whole damn world knows you are phenomenal at the craft.
It was really nice to hear you reserve yourself a little in this song.
Still wanna hear your interpretation of a Tool song like Stinkfist, H, or Aenema..
Dude. Every time I see this dude play, it genuinely just puts a huge smile on my face. That’s how you know he’s a killer drummer.
Saw you do this over a year ago and have been searching for it on your chanel. So glad the full version is on hear now. Awesome job.
Thank you for not overloading this very beautiful song of my youth from one if not the best band from the 80s ❤️🍻
Well done, very good job!
Not overloading? LOL
I watched Aaron Spears playing “caught up” a million times. This is my new obsession. It’s beautiful.
RIP Aaron❤
0:17 Love the time change....and in the few other places that you do it as well. Top notch.
Love this song; didn’t want this cover to end! Amazing!
This guy's the best new drummer I've seen in a while
Can we talk about how that snare fuckin' SNAPS and his cymbals sounding super dry but cut so well through the mix? Pristine
Que sutileza que cambios todo en un combo, más covers de los 80 sería genial, gracias por darnos estas clases magistrales.
Best version ever of this one. He made it its one. Te la comiste lobo!
