His drumming is freakin amazing, I wish I could drum 1% as well as he does... but this would be horrible for the actual studio track. The original track is way, way, way better for the song. If this was track was the original it'd be a song about drums instead of deep yearning. But it's fun and he's extremely talented. Maybe I'm just jealous that I can't play like that though.

Glad you put your 2 cents in on his drumming style. People take stuff way too seriously . I regularly see people comment things like "he just ruined the song" and "he only plays fast, not impressed". Are you kidding me he is incredible to watch as a drummer and a showman. The way I describe his channel is its not a music channel, its a drumming channel. Forget the song, and just appreciate the limit pushing drums.

I'll never understand people who think you can overplay a solo drum cover. Its not a whole band cover and its not a live performance, the focus is on the drummer not the song. He could do a drum solo over the whole song and it wouldnt be overplaying because the point of the video is to show off drumming prowess not to play for the music.

Sure he does some stuff that’s over the top but when you look at some of the stuff he’s doing with the Michael Jackson covers, while the drum parts are absolutely insane, they are also insanely musical and completely, and perfectly fit the song. He also had one that was a Latin track and his drum part was a giant ball of fire. Anybody that says this guy just overplays must’ve only popped in here and there when they saw a song title they wanted to see. They are definitely not content followers.

I remember when I started to play drums. I was 9 years old. I was proud. The teacher showed me the exercise the train. Which we only trained. Every lesson was like this. Then at older age like 16. I joined a band and well, I was still a newbie but learnt more and more about different patterns and styles.. even 5/4 beat.. I thought there was nobody better than me.. we’ll time flies and the. When I got to 18 - 19 I actually exercised drums for over 2 years 8 hours a day. Took me about 1 month to be able to play Bernie shuffle at high bpm. And also nailing both ghost notes and strokes.. BUT I learnt there was a god. Named Dave Weckl.. I saw him live and I thought I died because I couldn’t grip how he played.. and it sounded super awesome!! I thought I would give up drums.. didn’t… but then boys and girls.. there came he… the invisible yet visible. He’s both light and darkness.. fuck I stopped playing drums after seeing El Estepario.. I mean come on.. look at him.. He’s doesn’t struggle even!! Fuck.. I officially give up!! El estepario the scene is yours! Keep doing the great work!! Love it!!

i love when i'm expecting something from a song and some player is like "lol freestyle" and it blows my mind. Not only to remind me of song construction styles in the 80s but also the way that musical influence has impacted players like Siberiano. Those differences are so great! It's also funny to see how basic a descending fill sounds, but when Siberiano does it I can't help but chuckle because I rarely get such an anchor fill from such a creative player.

I’ve commented this on another reaction post; I believe it bears repeating; EES has detached himself from the “talent” label emphatically and stresses practice to nearly the point of breathing.
In my view however his base identity is often overlooked. His is a incredibly accomplished drummer but he is also an impassioned music lover.
I dare say he loves music to the equal of drumming and what he seeks to do is make music with drums, more than just put on a chops exhibition.
He can disclaim talent but not his passion.
    I consider him inspired.
    And that is contagious.
I am grateful for the bewildering joy of seeing/hearing him play.
He’s close to establishing his own era.

I feel like a lot of these new metal drummers are technically awesome but sometimes playing as many notes as possible as fast as you can is overplaying. I'm not a drummer, but the breakdown of what's going on is really cool. It's hard for a non-drummer to hear exactly what is going on in the song, without knowing that it's hard to tell if he's good or just overplaying. It's like watching Steve Vai or listening to dubstep, I have just enough time on guitar and in music to know what he's playing, but there are times when it feels like it goes a bit far and although it's all technically correct and beautiful in its own way I can tell that many wouldn't get it.

9:50 To the question, how much power does a drummer have? This is the answer! When he slows the beat down it feels like ALL other instruments slow down along with him! When they don't. This is how much power a drummer have on the whole thing! To me it is mind bending, to some extent.
PS: if you like that guitar. you might want to listen to "Un autre monde" from Telephone. The last minute of the song is amazing. I am sure you would enjoy it. ^__-

I've a TFF live performance of the song from the early 1990s in which the drummer is playing all the notes on the hi-hat with both hands, playing the snare with his left. Which in my book gives you license to play the groove however you want. Still really satisfying to do it properly though.

Keith Moon was a drummer who would hardly play the song the same twice. He would always like to throw a new fill into each time it was played. Some like hearing new adds to a song giving it a freshness that can bring back the song to a new feel. Much like musicians that do remakes to a old cover. Sometimes making the song even more popular than the original.

what l value about this guy is that he breaks through the oldschool way - practicing a million hours until you dream about it - in an age in which music is dictated by plugin/ AI/ autotune/ autogrid/autofuckingeverything

For those students interested in understanding the correct terminology of the note values of this pattern - the original Hi Hat part is simply crotchet triplets (1/4 note triplets.) They can start either on the beat, or in this case, off the beat.

My observation (since everybody else has observed everything else); El Estepario Siberiano never "overplays" the cymbals. They're hit when they need to be hit, left alone otherwise. I like that. Excessive cymbals annoys me, well not the "clock" on the ride cymbal, it can be abused.

9:01 In the middle of a syncopated groove he needs to scratch his nose so just switches to left-handed for a few beats, and if you aren't watching you don't even hear the difference. This might be the smallest thing to focus on, but it's little things like this that you realize how second-nature this is to him.
