Check his newest: Eminem Godzilla, really amazing orchestration.
Thriller by Michael Jackson
The Bongo Song
El estepario, Eminem GODZILLA
Definitely would love a musical breakdown on Godzilla. Some nifty things were happening that I couldn't comprehend.
There are "reaction" videos where you just watch someone's face while they watch a video, and then there are gems like this where actual value is being added through analysis and commentary. Great job
If this man isn't the hardest working drummer in the world right now, then I don't know who is. Technic, chops, fills, hand and feet speed, timing, etc, everything is just superb.
..and we're seeing the easy part. It's the other eight hours per day to get to this point and to continue to work these songs out to perfection.
Eloy is great too. Recomend
Your comments gave me a deeper understanding of what is actually going on. I’m a non-musician from Sweden and I’ve been impressed by El Esteparios drumming skills for a long time, but thanks to you I now know WHY I’m impressed. You’re doing great and very competent work, and I hope to see more of El Esteparios videos on your channel. Sincerely thanks.
I've watched a lot of reactions to his work, and absolutely love the way you tackle it. You are the first person I've seen, who really goes into the details of why what he is doing is great/top tier - and properly explains the the musicality of it in a way a non-musician can appreciate. The stop start nature of the reaction is awesome. Top notch vid, really informative. Congrats on 200,000!
Thanks for the nice comment
Agreed @KainenMiffy and just subscribed to this channel.
Very enjoyable and informative reaction as well good positive energy! 🎉
Same mate. TBH, I don't get all the "Reaction videos" popping up. At the end of the day you're building your channel off other peoples hard work. Sounds harsh, but that's how I see it. However, I agree with. This is by far most enjoyable reaction vid I have seen to Estapario's work.
Agreed indeed
I fully agree with you on this one, and I've been watching a lot of different el estepario reaction videos lately 🤣
Great to get a technical react and breakdown, much appreciated. He truly is one of the hardest working drummers that I have seen. Proof positive , of what 8 hours a day for years of hard, work, practice and dedication can turn out.
Love the way you explain what he's doing. Very instructive. Thank you.
So big respect to you Tony who pick everything apart to explain the groove in a easier way so regular folks can understand whats going on! I love the respect and the effort that goes in to you channel as a fellow musican =) Keep up the good spirit! love from Norway =)
I appreciate that!
A great man in the world of music education deserves an ALGORITHM BOOSTING COMMENT.
🔥
I concur.
One of the very few "react" videos I've seen of El Este actually worth watching. Kudos for good content, sir.
that late hat on the 'ee' mimics the jangling of tack landing after a galloping horse's hoofstrike - matching the artistic direction of the original song. It's not just technically impressive, it's thematically brilliant.
Oh man, you did such a great breakdown. Hands down, you're the best I've seen so far. This was a mastery reaction of a mastery cover and I've enjoyed every second of it. Thank you Tony, can't wait for the next one. ❤
(trying this again) Holy CRAP this was fun to watch! I've got a background in music but not drums, so I really appreciate the way you explain what he's doing. The way you explain his techniques, fill patterns, and even things I'd never think to consider like grip & fulcrum actually makes me appreciate what's going on here even more.
Thank you!
They way you detail your reaction, your technical but clear language, it’s just on point. Thanks for doing these videos.
Thx, I appreciate the comment
Admission here, I don't generally leave comments or likes on reaction videos but yours are definitely worth that. As a long time drummer it's clear that you know what you're talking about and actually add value with your reactions.
now, finally, FINALLY, someone reacts to this man as it deserves. Liked and suscribed.
I really enjoy how you explain what he's doing great job!
Your breakdowns are so insightful and in-depth that I always have to come back over and over just to take notes.
Not a musician. Just a listener. 😅
Welcome back 🙏
Among the thousand things I could say about this guy, his and Gergo's toms are just amazingly tuned - some of the nicest sounds in the world of drumming. 🙏
You're really good at what you do. That was fun.
Thanks. I appreciate that
I'm a big fan of this guy, and I really enjoyed your review and breakdown of this video. I've watched his video over and over again and seen many other reviews for different videos he's posted. This is the first review I've seen of Knights of Cydonia. You did a fantastic job of breaking things down and emphasizing all the different things he puts into this song. Happy to follow you now.
I've watched a lottery action breakdowns of this song and You by far knock it out of the park very very educated very very good
Love this song and obviously an a amazing drummer.
As others have said, I like how you break everything down in a way that everyone can digest. Whether someone is very experienced or has no musical experience, everyone is able to understand and notice how seemingly easy excerpts are actually quite technically difficult. Keep it up!
📯 Gracias por tú trabajo, Tony.
El trabajo con el charles, arriba y abajo, más el bombo, moviéndo a izquierda y derecha el pie, sumado al trabajo con las baquetas ...
No es de este planeta!
Un saludo.
3:20 Finally something I feel somewhat qualified to comment on! You are spot on here, at least from my perspective! I too use this grip to let the thumb and first finger of my hand rest a bit when playing demanding pieces. For some reason this came completely natural and super easy to me, and barely required any practice. You get a surprising amount of power and control even with this grip (at least if it feels natural to you). It would never replace the "real" grip of course, but it's not as bad as one would initially think!
Please don't take this as me trying to put myself at a high level. I'm not. I practiced traditional grip for hours and hours and hours because I think it's cool, and I still can't use it no matter how much I practice it. If anyone can learn anything from my failures is "Don't sweat it, do what is natural to you".
Thank you to react to this video. It was good. Keep going you're doing great
Jesus 22 years playing sticks and this guy just made me pick up a guitar 🎸 😂😂😂😂
hahhaha I feel that!
Estepario siberiano!!! No me aburro de ver sus videos !!!!que gran bateriata por DIOS!!!!!
Thx Tony
That’s what i call a proper reaction!👌🏼
Not just „wow“ and „this is nuts“.
One of my all time favorite songs got even better❤
I'm not a musician, so maybe this is just an expression of my ignorance, but I'm equally impressed by you being able to catch and analyse what he's doing as by him doing it. Very nice to watch.
Yeah, I'm amazed by the people that understand what's going in music just on one or two listens, and even better can explain it to us normals. These are the people who's 'reactions' are by far the most interesting: Rick Beato, Elizabeth Zharoff, Doug Helvering. There are quite a few such people with youtube channels.
I absolutely get you when you break it down even though it seems so physically impossible 🤣🤣. I do use that stick grip on my prominent when I get tired due to so many pattens. His power is so controlled so the snare is so snappy but rolls are lighter and groovy.
congrats for 200k 🎉🔥 sry im late
These are the best reactions and breakdowns. Love the breakdown of the music and what he I doing from a technical and compisional stand point. Would love to hear your breakdown of his new Godzilla video because there are clearly things happening in that one from a musical standpoint that I don't understand
I watched 2 other Reactions prior to yours & by far yours was the most informative & enjoyable. At 3:44 he did the most unbelievable odd time fill . Also the kick triplets was super impressive. The placement of hi-hat was an excellent observation as for a non drummer I wouldn't have picked it up.
Great reaction, amazing technical explanations. Thank you
Great job on this reaction, you are the best expert I've seen analyze music. You are even much more engaging and well expressed than Rick Beato. You also have a perfect balance between how long you pause to explain and resume the video. 10/10
Super cool music dude. I love music but have no clue about notes, scales, quarter notes, etc... but somehow u seemed to bring it together for me a little. Thanks man.
Thank you for Your explaining . I love this Guy and his drummin. He is so powerful but it looks so easy and it isnt easy i see..
Wow you broke down that high hat superbly👏👏👏
The switching of the grip in that way is something I do for relief from Carpel Tunnel Syndrome… I wonder if this is for the same reason??
Same.
I just posted a similar thing.
:)
So clean
First drum reaction video just makes sense(not black blue screen or just giggling like menace) with at least follow up theoretically. Good job.
He burned it all! Awesome stuff.
I'm only @8:00 and you are the best "reacts/break-down" video (of which there are many) on this extraordinary drummer. You actually explain what he's doing. One other reactor does a half smile, closes his eyes, slowly shakes his head as if to say "I quit". Good job from you IMO, thanks in triplets.
For a "Next" video by El Estepario Siberiano, easy call... Godzilla by Eminem.
Thanks, I appreciate that.
Love this better than the original
I love your breakdown of his vids and he's a goat ☺☺☺☺
It is number 1 and in the south of Spain it is the Siberian tiger,,,👍
Absolutely brilliant reaction, so glad you pointed out his work ethic, check out his cover of Blinding Lights or Godzilla would love to see your reaction.
Taking care of the non-drummers, I do appreciate that. Thank you.
At the end he says in Spanish “fuck! I can’t even see” 😄
😅😅😅😅
Thank you for actually analyzing a drum video ... Much appreciated.
Thanks buddy, really appreciate your knowledge
Great video. Great reaction
First of all, I go to a reaction video to hear YOUR reaction and comments. If someone wants to listen to the song straight through then the video is out there. So I enjoy your professional commentary. I've never heard this song but his drumming was amazing as usual. Last point. Lots of folks want him to join a band and he has in the past, but why? He has an immense, worldwide audience and the freedom to pursue his creative urges as his own boss in his own home. In a full time band, he'd have to do exhausting tours and be constrained to holding down the beat and regurgitating the same content night after night..
Great analysis - you should check out some of his videos where he plays complex beats one-handed. This guy is a machine!
I think you would also enjoy Estepario's drum cover of Dragonforce's "Through the Fire and Flames."
he actually said that he changes grip just to relax his thumb..so you were totally right about the stamina analysis
The best !!!
So glad you talked about the hi-hat placement at the start and how difficult it is, on first listen I found it really distracting, and all I could focus on, bit too loud in he mix but the rest was as awesome as ever
Yea man. My ears were hyper fixated on that.
As far as Shifting the fulcrum in his right hand, I do the same thing. When I get cramps in my thumb I changed to that fulcrum to give my thumb a break.
Hey if you haven't yet I'm sure you'd dig Rottengraffty's 70cm square window, which was used as an ending for Dragon Ball Super. It's got cool drum grooves in the verse, a nice breakdown, great composition and a sick half time switch at the end. I'd love to see a video reaction to it.7
Tony: You can execute all these things from a relaxed position.
Bill Ward playing War Pigs: No, I don't think I will.
😅😅😅
OMG, his left foot!
I swear that hat never rest. Stamina for days
Hey Tony I got a recommendation for two songs you should listen to as they both have some amazing qualities!
Baki Hanma Season 2 part 1 Op (The beast)
Baki Hanma Season 2 part 2 Op (Sky-Hi)
Hope you get to them and enjoy it!
Ottima reazione Tony, come sempre Prossima cover? Thriller o Misery business oppure Animals as Leaders medley:folle!A te la scelta Tony, saluti dall'Italia 🤪
I feel like ElEstepario is changing the game and demonstrating that there are no limits when it comes to playing the drums.
Someone described him as a 'modern day Buddy Rich', which I think is a pretty good summary. Buddy changed drumming as a craft, and Jorge could well do the same.
That foot work around 11:10 is just nasty
I feel like I'm getting smarter when i watch your reactions even though I know my dumbass is never actually going to apply any of this to my playing 😂.
Absolutely love your insight though, man. Go hawks!
Go Hawks@!
Estepario Siberiano is the best!!!!!❤
He feet never stop
I learned to change my grip between my index and middle finger out of necessity. I developed CTS a decade or so ago and started doing this on the fly during gigs when my index and thumb went numb. Now it's just a natural part of my way of playing.
No surgeries and I can still play 3 hour sets.
Not sure why he does it. But it could be something similar.
Man that is awesome to hear. 3 hour set can be brutal for percussionists.
@@DrumRollTonyReacts
Hey. Watch it with the P word!
I'm just a lowly drummer who hits too hard and plays too loud :)
we could all do this.....but will we ever practice enough to be able to lol
He’s got the same look on his face as Michael Shrieve did at Woodstock playing for Santana granted Michael was tripping balls, but they’re both feeling the music.
😂
The change of fulcrum is what you say, it uses slightly different muscles. Plus, i have seen bleeding from that area, i think so many hours practicing literally leave his skin "raw".. if that makes sense.
I have had my skin literally split open from drumming so yea it makes complete sense
Love your channel because of your technical knowledge. Please react to El Estepario Siberiano EMINEM | GODZILLA
If you truly understand math, you understand the world.
Ah yeah he's got callouses and has bled on video from using that grip between the index and middle finger. It's a hard spot to get a callus. I was super into bowling and it modified my skeleton and musculature, I looked like one of those crabs with one super huge claw and one tiny one. Tennis players are the same. I wonder if the structures of his hand would change slowly over time.
What a drummer! Also I have a suggestion of an ost you should hear, Attack on Titan: An ordinary day
the version that played during the episode is much better imo. the spotify one has screams(?) in the bg. episode one was clean
Tony haven't you seen the Thriller "version" of EES ? you gonna love it... ;)
Not yet
Fuck yeah Tony! Do you think he's nursing an injury and thats why he switches grips?
Oh is he really? I gotta try that when my hands are messed up
I'm always wondering if he is right or lefthanded. Maybe you can tell :)
It is not fun to listen to at .25 speed but it is watching his hand work of shifting is fingers to control the drumstick is crazy. I thought he was just Ambidextrous and Ambipedal combined which is crazy enough. But it seems all extremities his mind can control individually doing different things at the same time.
It is number 1, the Siberian Tiger
Is this guy to good to be in a band?😮😊 He's insane
No, he is not too good. Do you not listen to other drummers that are also insane that actually play very very very very difficult music?
Can you do “Sugar Song to Bitter Step” by Unison Square Garden?
It was the first outro on the anime Blood Blockade Battlefront
Wondering if being self thought helped him. Nobody told him some things are hard to do 😁 he just started doing stuff and his stamina in practicing leads to this perfection.
Also wondering if what you explain is as alien to him as it is to me 😂
Nobody in the past 25+ years is really "self taught" That phrase used to mean something different. but we have access via internet to anything and everything music education from the best resources ever created at a single click.
@@DrumRollTonyReacts so you are saying that because there are more ways to get lessons he can't be self taught? That is a bold statement not knowing if he ever watched a tutorial.
There are loads of people who are self taught, just like there are loads of people who don't have functional internet, don't go on youtube, etc. 😁
@@annebokma4637 Not bold at all. Just coming from a place of massive experience in the music world along with spending countless hours with musicians. It's really common functionality for any modern person, even those with accessibility indifference. If you want to believe the narrative that he sat in a windowless room during his life and didn't study any musicians and just gripped the sticks and went in....go ahead. Have a good one
@@DrumRollTonyReacts if looking at others becomes part of the equation then nobody was self taught for a really really long time.
If your statement remains that it is because of the internet I must point out that loads of people don't have internet at all, nor money for lessons, yet still make music.
That was the point I protested. Though your narrative that he should have been locked in a room makes for a better fairytale for sure.
I have a suspicion that we are not going to agree 😁 that's ok, we are largely dabbling in semantics now anyway.
Keep up the good work sir.
@@annebokma4637 bro... 👍
His Slipnot vid about a new drummer...he is obviously more than a fit but I'm curious would they reject him because of his popularity overriding there's? I'm am a huge fan of Estepario so I'm just curious.
Good reaction. Please dont stop as much. You should let it play thru once then i promise well listen to it again with your knowledge. 😊
There is a reason I don't do that. It's quite illegal to just play someone's work front to back with no stops online. You have to transform content to qualify for fair use on any platform if you are not the copyright owner... and I am definitely not for any of these. In this case the the label is to Muse. If I did let it play all the way once, and it got manually reviewed by the label, that would be grounds for a strike and lots of problems for the channel. Not to mention is just playing El Estepario front to back as well. That's very disrespectful. I know lots of people DO that right now for their "reactio. Those people are legit wrong. It will catch up with them, trust me. I know people who have lost their channels or faced other problems. My approach is the legal way to go and I know I'm truthfully reacting and adding value to the original video.
My first time ever watching one of your videos and you immediately earned my respect with this response.
What you call "changing the fulcrum" is a standard finger technique exercise and playing technique for the mallet keyboard percussion instruments. Documented techniques that predate Gladstone and Moeller for multiple mallet independence in each hand. There is so much more to this and I believe Siberiano knows about it. Turn the sound off and watch his hands.
I guess a bit of Steven's grip. It's such a different distribution of weight though. Mallets feel so much different then sticks but I can definitely see it. I would be curious if he had any keyboard percussion experience.
@@DrumRollTonyReacts
Actually I was thinking more of the Vibraphone Fulcrum grip. Saindon has a video somewhere where he gives a quick explanation of how the grip translates to drumming. Look for El Estepario playing his homemade keyboard percussion to Thunderstruck. Can he really not read music?????
@dnczardnczar Oh Burtons? Yea, I guess I can see a possibility of that as well. But still, you don't really switch in and out of those techniques on mallet percussion. If you are playing with 4 mallets, you are generally playing the entire piece with 4 mallets. That's why those techniques exist. The segments of switching the technique/fulcrum in THIS video don't change any stick implement but just direct changes in the middle of a phrase.
@@DrumRollTonyReacts
Of course what he is doing has no direct relationship to mallet playing and I have no idea why he is doing what he is doing. This doesn't mean there is nothing about the technique that translates to playing with sticks as the Berkeley Vibraphone Prof. points out in a video.
This is not the only video he is doing this and I don't see him as someone who does anything without a reason. There are identifiable differences in what he is playing though between when he uses the technique and when his doesn't.
Like you in your reaction video I'm just asking myself why is he doing this and speculating on possibilities and what he is doing is not from out in left field. And I sure don't believe he's as uneducated about music as he lets on.
@@DrumRollTonyReacts
BTW, forgot to add, When he is playing with 2 sticks in his right hand he is playing with fulcrum or Burton.
he's a gateway into drumming for non drummers. his playing however is very robotic and at the end of the day covers are covers. it wouldn't be annoying if they didn't think he was the greatest ever because he hits hard, plays at a fast tempo, and does those gimmicks with the sticks. when someone says that it's just another way of saying they know nothing.
He has done a very good (the best imo) of creating a dominant space on social media as far as drumset goes. Covers are the way into the masses. You have to ignore people that have no real percussion knowledge or understanding of what they are hearing. I respect what he has done and how inspiring he is with transparency about work ethic. That's killer. I would bet any amount of money he could play the hard stuff any day of the week with his eyes closed, but that doesn't sell as well on socials. He knows what he is doing.
1/8 note triplets are counted: 1 la li, 2 la li. Not & a. & a is how you count straight 1/16 notes.
That IS another system of how to count 8th note triplets. I can assure you that both make sense but commonly on any bandstand... most people would say "you're late on the uh of two" and not say "you're late on the li of two" That's just from years of experience playing globally. However, 16th triplets make sense with the expanded la li system.
Jesus, there's an entire freaking industry of reaction videos watching this guy. I hope He's getting paid for people using his content…
That is why I don't do "reactions" and approach content as a surface level music analysis and honestly qualify for fair use. My videos are nothing like the folks who piggyback off this guy and other musicians and franky the comparison is insulting. If you take any amount of time to watch my videos you would see that immediately. As far as revenue and 'who gets paid', its ONLY the copyright holder. In the case of this video that is MUSE. Not myself and not El Estepario. Welcome to RUclips.
