Take a loot at the band where he was playing the drums. The name is Saratoga. You can check one of their songs "Como el viento". This is an old school spanish rock band, so he is a master.
I've been experimenting with artificial intelligence, but it doesn't have the balls to keep up with @ElEsteparioSiberiano . He's the best, and you're a great person at explaining everything. 👍🏻
The way El Stepario gets musicality out of his kit is just amazing. The last minute or so of his playing just set my brain on fire, so clean, such great dynamics, so smooth and so groovy. EDIT: I just found out this song was originally played by two drummers and now I'm contemplating my choices in life.
Yeah, he could probably do with one drumstick what two drummers couldn't do with four. It is hard to even comprehend how good he is. I've been drumming for 29 years, but I haven't been at it every day, not even every month. This guy has been at it for a LOT of hours every day. But to be a decent drummer, not a world class one, you really only need minimal effort.
@@asbjrnfossmo1589One of the things he does that I find truly fascinating is the way he sweeps over the set, often using the crash or ride at the same time (or close to it) as a snare or the floor tom. It's such a cool motion.
His clean speed is obviously very impressive, but what I admire about his playing the most is his incredible phrasing. His musical palette is so wide, and his vocabulary is just so deep… not to mention his impeccable sense of time.
Very well said... he can fill time with ease, and he quite literally has perfect 100% 4-way independence. The Blinding Lights video affirmed this for me too. He's unbelievable.
I don't know if you've seen the original yet, but what makes it insane is that it was played by 2 drummers, and he does a waaaaay better job! God I'm in awe of this bloke!!
My favorite part is his joy behind the kit. Marco Minnimen too. Most drummers either look like they're trying to pass a watermelon or are hating every beat. Celebrate the joy of music!
Can i give you a tip make the video your reacting to fullscreen and put your facecam in a corner its more fun to look at him when he is in fullscreen😅😂
The irony is that the original song isn't that complicated and one of the percussionists could probably have played it alone as well (both of them are extremely skilled), however ... El Estepario Siberiano's version sounds more like a song for at least two drummers! 😀 Oh, and thank you, Andrew, for reminding me of that song. I can't stand Safri Duo and had forgotten all about them 😅 (This version, though, hoowee!)
My mom used to call me "Andy Rooney" when I was a very young child because my name is Andy and I resembled the actor Mickey Rooney at the time. We are now related. I love you.
I'm a guitarist, not a drummer, but I absolutely love your videos. I got started with your Bill Ward reacts and just keep coming back. Thank you for the knowledge and entertainment! EL ESTEPARIO SIBERIANO is amazing even to my non-drummer ears. A modern Buddy Rich on steroids!
I have never played drums, but I appreciate excellence in many forms. Thank-you for providing detailed reactions that help me understand why he is so amazing. I would never notice most of what you point out.
El Estepario Siberiano is a machine. He's incredible to watch, and Andrew's sad realisations Estepario is on another level cracks me up. btw, what is the music used at 2:11?
As someone trying to learn drums I love watching your commentary. It's great having someone break down what's going on and pinpoint the skills that allow these great drummers to do what they do. Thank you!
This guy is not human , he s a freakin beast. I can t even visually follow his moves they are two fast!!!! so glad I’m not a drummer cause I would’ve quit a long time ago after seeing him lol
YES. I LOVE when he does this kinda stuff. So tasteful and musical. I could watch/listen to this all day long. The "I'm gonna go as fast as possible just because I can" stuff is impressive.. but it gets old. It's just spectacle. After a while it's like "yes, we know your hands go mach 5... but *play* something". THIS is playing something. And it's not just El Estepario I feel that way about. There's a lot of other drummers, and otherwise, I feel the same about. They're all speed and flash, but seldomly musical.
Btw composed for two good drummers. Also he said this is his most difficult performance ever and he could never play this live. Remember, its not live, he did like 50 takes for this.
He re-recorded this song on a recent video he posted a day ago. It has better sound and is a bit refined. EES said on one of his vids that he will be re-recording some of his old vids.
Very nostalgic for me this track. First CD I ever owned. Huge fan of Safri Duo back in the day. They're from my neck of the woods as well. Absolutely love what he did with this! His bongo playing alone is absolutely perfect. I hadn't even thought about the idea of covering this song on the drums, but he nailed it. Big smile on my face the whole time.
На Сибириано все, кто хоть что-то понимает в игре на барабанах, смотрят как на чудо! Но как на него смотрят преподаватели игры на барабанах - это отдельный вид потехи - явно читается "чем, чёрт возьми, я занимаюсь..."
What the actual fuck. I've been watching El estepario videos but not this one because I wanted to know what someone (like a drummer or a drum teacher!) would think and I just can't even... Yeah idk. I can't even. Come on! Just like Andrew said. Killed it!
Glad I discovered your channel, I was just mesmerized by Estepario when I discovered his videos after RUclips recommended it (I just love MJ's drummer, Jonathan Moffett). I don't play any instruments but felt that he was something special. Seeing your review of his skill validated my suspicions, he is something else!
Had a response on a comment I made about he and Eloy Casagrande. They said "Neither one can groove" 😂😂 I said, watch some of their Latin music and get back to me on that, these two can do anything they want!
That dude don't know music, not even music notes, but he definitely understands it! This dude, Like Vangelis is a natural born talent, Vangelis was a genius cuz he also composed, and his compositions are international recognized at the highest level!
He just released an even cleaner version of this. I swear this guy must practice 24/7... bet he has a kit in the can. What kills me about this is that he's doing the work of two drummers, who were professors, so no slouches. And still manages to make it look easy.
Andrew, please do a fellow drummer a favour and look up Phil Minal, an amazing drummer who almost nobody watches. His nephew Ben was the drummer in Toska and its various band-for-hire incarnations (Toseland, Dorje) along with Rabea Massaad, a prominent guitar RUclipsr who opened Reading with Stormzy. Phil is one of the finest musicians I've ever seen behind a kit and really deserves an audience...
In the start i only used the EAD10 Mic (or what its called) I really liked those rough recordings, then he went to full mic up and camera man. Im glad to see he's moved a bit back toward his roots with the recording and filming. All his stuff is awesome, just perifere the rough recordings.
As a non-drummer, I have a Q: Originally, the percussion track on this song is played by two players, one playing the drums and the other the bongos. When Estepario plays these two parts on his own, does he faithfully reproduce every note or does he edit the original, missing out a few notes to adapt it for a solo-player? If he does NOT, I am even more in awe of this performance than I am anyway - one man does the job of two people!
It is really hard to describe someone who is playing like a God, I mean, where do you start? You made a big effort, and I applaud you for this... but his time keeping... I don't know if he had a clicktrack on his headphones... but is he didn't... how did he count his start after the break? He was SPOT ON.
The song is celled played-a-live it's by Safri Duo.. they were a couple of Danish kids that met in a marching band, and then again later the Royal Danish music conservatory where they were studying to be percussionists (shocker right)..oh, and its written to be played by two percussionists
That's impressive and everything, but have you heard the 8 note drum fill that Dave Rowntree executes coming out of the choruses on Blur's song There's No Other Way?
I too like his work with the AD10 over the fully mic'd kit. Everything El Siberiano does is just stellar, but getting to hear fluctuations in dinam8cs (or lack thereof, which is even more impressive) and knowing that's the natural sound just knocks the Wow factor through the roof.
These types of vibes remind of the late 90's. Such as Orbital - Halcyon On and On would be cool to see you do your own take on that song. It was an amazing classic.
One thing I disagree strongly with El Estepario over is this - he insists that it's not talent, but practice. Well I'm sorry, but I could practice 18 hours a day for 150 consecutive years and still not get close to his level!

Now you have to revisit, after such a long time, he just released an even better cover 😂
I like this one better the new one is much shorter. Okay quality is better but he displays a lot more in this one.
@@JanTJaeckx Agreed.
What?😂
@@melissacicolini1765 6:17 - 6:22 ... That's what.

😳 damn ! He's the chief commander. Unbelievable 😵💫🫣
When a drummer enters God Mode!
YUP
He makes every drummer looks lazy. Safri DUO, is not a duo but a one mans job.
I don't think i've seen another video where he works quite this hard, Maybe one other, that he looked this disheveled playing
If this guy learned how to read music and implement it in the same way he understands and implements music and rhythm, any rating you had for a drummer you would have to rank them down one place
He's got a new one of this song, this is from a year ago, new and better (if possible!) video is up.
This guy will put drum machines out of business!
His hand movements are super fast , cant even keep up lol . This dude is just a beast at the drums and just having fun
