Andrew, please check out the group Leonidas and Freinds. They are a mix of Russian and Ukrainian musicians. They love Chicago covers, but the song, Make Me Smile from BS&T's is fantastic. But the drummer impresses me the most. Just listen to it. You may like him.

El Esterpario can take a song I really do NOT like.... and make it simply riveting. He is so relaxed while playing super-complicated riffs and fills. Just amazing. I've been a long-time drum fan (never played)... and my favorite has always been Neil Peart. But this Spaniard takes drumming to a whole new level. I dare say he is single-handedly re-defining drumming. He is setting new standards. Revolutionizing drumming. And all while smiling!
I said this in another video featuring EES by Andrew here. I used the analogy of yet another video that a former Army Green Beret said of his training as a GB. He said a few things about he was qualified to do now AS a GB, but you know what he said to describe himself AFTER his training? That he'd mastered the BASICS. IOW, he's now prepared to add a few more rungs to the ladder. I use the same for EES. He's mastered the BASICS. The same could said for Eddie Van Halen, Joe Satriani....the list goes on. Consider David Gilmour of Pink Floyd. He's an awesome technical musician, but even more so is his musicality and showmanship. IOW, DG has mastered the basics. Case and point - PF: Dark Side of the Moon. DG's solo in that incredible piece of music doesn't have a lot, if really ANY highly technical riffs. He COULD have put a shit load of very technical riffs in it. And yet..... the riffs are basic blues in minor key. And yet.... few guitarists of that time could have pulled off what he did with his solo. Mastered the basics. EES has mastered the basics. When you do this, THEN.... you can add tons of your own take on a song. Another drummer that does this is Larnell Lewis. HIS set is like ten times the size of EES's. I can't wait until EES starts expanding into more toms, cymbals, etc. We think we've seen incredible NOW......

I sent it to my brother, whom I’ve been in a few bands with over the years. I said, “what does one of the best drummers in the world play on his original music?” He replied, “something that tastefully fits the song. Go figure.” 😂

During the crescendos for the beat drops where he's playing 32nds or 64ths but he's adding accents to match the synth stabs or the vocals or other musical punctuation. Just for fun last night I listened to Blinding Lights - The Weekend without EES. It was boring, lol. El Estepario adds so much to a song without taking anything away. What an amazing musician.
I enjoy your genuine reaction and how refreshing it is to hear an expert say that they're going to try out the stuff of the person they're reviewing. Respect. (Btw, no need for your, 'that's what she said' quips. Your reviews are better without.)
EES is to drums to what Eddie Van Halen was to guitar. So innovative, technically proficient and original it is difficult to have peers. But where EVH often strayed into noise, EES is highly listenable and mesmerising.
I always watching his videos really amazing this guys high level of his own talent really fabtastic his skills is superb i consider him as giftted bcoz gifted for me is different from talent
Isn't he (machine? lol) mesmerizing to watch? The speed, power, precision, timing and flair are all amazing. And (to me) he doesn't overpower the song, but compliments them really nicely. Like a true musician. I think I've just realized, he adds to the drums, what Leo Moracchioli (Frog Leap Studios) adds to entire songs. And I love Frog Leap studios. Leo makes songs amazing, just like El Estepario does. Despacito, Hello, and Californication as notable examples.
I have mad respect for this dude as a musician. Ol' brother isn't human. He must have an independent brain for each limb with the way he can hold different timings.
On some parts he seems for me to overplay the song but on many parts he made the pretty monotone song sooooo much better, bringer extra elements. What a gift to the music and you tube.
I am a keyboard ( e.piano ) player and I can tell you that practice is the name of the game, when I was younger I used to practice every day for 4 -5 hours and more , and I was the best but today - i'm not playing like I used to - i'm playing for couple of minutes every week just for fun and my playing has been deteriorated, and now I see other players that play things that I can't and I simply don't have the will to do so
I think what all the “haters” miss is that he breaks down the song into sections, practices each section until he is comfortable with it, then spends hours practicing the entire song as he’s designed it. Plus he gives back and says “you can do it! Here’s how!”
yes he has immense power and precision but for me it is how EASY He make's everything he dose seem .. even though he puts in 100's of hours for each video it is that perfect you cant even tell.. sooo much flow he has.
I watch his magic maybe once a week...maybe two weeks now (in the beginning it was days on end tbh) and I seem to prefer (not solely) to see him on your channel.....I'm always in Stupified Astonished Admiration (or what ever) ... but I'm no drummer....so it's very helpful (for my mental health probably too) to have your reaction as a reference......and besides that I totally agree with your arguments following the video you seem like a real nice guy....so...thank you for another video sir....😊

It’s not just his skill that’s so good, but it’s his creativity too.
Yes!
I have mad respect for this dude as a musician. Ol' brother isn't human. He must have an independent brain for each limb with the way he can hold different timings.
Hope you also gonna check out the first single of his new band
“Stop the fight!” Lmao.
That was hilarious.
LOL
On some parts he seems for me to overplay the song but on many parts he made the pretty monotone song sooooo much better, bringer extra elements. What a gift to the music and you tube.
your expression on his mega transitions xD priceless
🤣🤣👌
I am a keyboard ( e.piano ) player and I can tell you that practice is the name of the game,
when I was younger I used to practice every day for 4 -5 hours and more , and I was the best
but today - i'm not playing like I used to - i'm playing for couple of minutes every week just for fun
and my playing has been deteriorated, and now I see other players that play things that I can't
and I simply don't have the will to do so
I had Fear of the dark shirt too. I bought it 92 or 93 Maiden concert in Helsinki. :)
LOVE IT
A musician plays until he gets it right, a pro plays until he doesn't get it wrong anymore. This guy is a pro.
He's crazy, Just that. Hard Work and creativity ❤
Just sick , what a musician !!! Those drums were taken to hell 🔥😉
YESSSS!
He gives the chills for sure. 😆🎶✌️
BOOM
I could watch this all night and I still won't comprehend what I just watched lol
Dazzling skills and showmanship :)
Understatement of the year, "That was rather awesome!" 😊
LOL
I watch his magic maybe once a week...maybe two weeks now (in the beginning it was days on end tbh) and I seem to prefer (not solely) to see him on your channel.....I'm always in Stupified Astonished Admiration (or what ever) ... but I'm no drummer....so it's very helpful (for my mental health probably too) to have your reaction as a reference......and besides that I totally agree with your arguments following the video you seem like a real nice guy....so...thank you for another video sir....😊
Thank YOU
Solid...solid..solid drumming. It's so good it makes me laugh with the joy of it.
I like his version of gangnam, really smooth, looks so easy like he's not even near his limits.
you said it Andrew, he is the best... amazing...
The sound of that snare 👌🏽👏🏽👏🏽
He is not only a musician. He is a full artist.
He is the G.O.A.T. of drums at this time in the realm of humans
I would've never even considered listening to this song, but I know he makes everything sound better lol
The fills were spot on
SMASHED IT
Awesome tee. Fear of The Dark was my first introduction to metal.
