I think the aspect that you were trying to express with the term "tasty" is what we in Trinidad and Tobago call "sweetness" when playing steel drums. It's about the way the music and/or performance makes us feel, rather than measurable things like technical proficiency or speed. And , frankly, I think it is what makes a piece of music or a performance great to listen to over and over again, or to sing along with, or dance to.

Phenomenal drummer and all round percussion talent however………. You are kidding if you think for a second that the ‘band’ (as a whole) and the studio producer would give this version the thumbs up to be released as a single etc. nb this is not, repeat not, a criticism of El Espesario. It is what it is, a fun and great showcase of his drumming.

Guitar players all feel the same when we watch Shawn Lane. In one of his instructional videos he says a few times “and you can also do it this way” or “you can also do that same pattern and pick every note.”
No. Shawn. No. No WE can’t.
These guys who are obviously coming from a completely different musical space that also make it look SO easy…That is the definition of virtuosity. I’m just happy that we get to witness it.

Okay, I've been watching El Estepario for long time now and I think it's safe to say at this point. Yes, there are drummer icons, Peart, Portnoy, Bonham, Palmer, Buddy Rich, Moon, BUT...El Estepario is the Eddie Van Halen of drums. Eddie was not only amazing as we all know, he was so innovative that he changed guitar playing forever. I believe that El Estepario is doing and introducing drumming techniques that are so innovative and amazing that he will be seen in that vein of the great drummers of our time.

I found El Estepario Siberiano watching your videos, the first reaction video you did on him actually. And I, like many including you, sat there with my jaw hanging somewhere around my knees. I played some in high school and beyond so I know how difficult what he does is. I really agree with you on this one. A lot of what he does seems a little over the top for his own pleasure, and wouldn't work with the band. I think this one could. The man's a monster (AI... hmm). I had thought I would pick it up again, it is great exercise for the body and coordination as I am over 60 now and I spend a great deal of my time at a desk typing. I think I'll stick to walking and waiting for more videos from the both of you. Thank you!

I think this is one of the best, if not the best, drum "cover" he's done so far. For one, he actually plays a decent amount of the song straight. Second, when he goes off and does his thing it's really tasteful and mostly fits the song well. I really liked this one.

I would compare it to a person being blind for 50 years and then being given sight in full color. And he just says "practice". Not quite my friend. Ive watched him play this probably 100 times. It is one of my absolute favorite. I can no longer hear the original song with out him shouting in the background in my head. But all the times ive watched him play this, it was the 101st on your channel that i noticed in his epic breakdown, at his busiest moment in the whole song, his right hand was dedicated to twirling a drumstick. There is literally so much other stuff going on its hard to see tho it is in plain sight. But yes he does tricks in this one. I hope to be someday half as competent at anything as this man is to drumming.
