The dude put out an amazing short video as a response to people accusing him of speeding up his videos. It was him playing one handed whilst holding a tablet with a stopwatch counting up to prove the video wasn't sped up and at the end he looks into the lens and says "if you people spent as much time practicing as you do hating, you'd be able to that, but you don't so you can't" or words to that effect. Just supreme talent.
el estepario is known as the king of lockdown, this is where he excelled and showcased his skill to the world! he is one of a kind and a force to be reckoned with
I discovered Estepario yesterday and man, I've seen many drummers in 45 years but this dude is just so unique, his style, his everything. And he is Spanish!
he also has a whole series of 1 handed drumming, usually playing heavy metal, and he is doing things like drinking a coffee, reading a book, or doing finger guns (for the double bass drum/machine gun type sounds). It's an absolute must watch in my opinion. His face also remains totally calm while he does this. Check it out if you want to, and I think you won't be disappointed.
He has a video explaining how he manages to get that phenomenal sound out of an EAD10. The technique includes epic quantities of damping, removing most of the toms because they either block the sound or overwhelm it, and using crash cymbals as hi-hats. He does also do plenty of double pedal stuff but not for this song. Check out his "shorts" they are as outrageous as you'd expect given this video.
This guy is an absolute monster with the drums! He makes short videos where he does stuff that is out of this world. I have seen videos where he plays with a coffee mug in one hand and you cant even tell he is playing with just one hand. I have never seen a drummer with his speed and control look so effortless. Awesome drummer!
I use the split finger grip all the time. I broke both of my hands and wrists some time ago and have a tendency to drop my sticks. The split finger grip on my right hand is something I switch to predominately on cymbal work so I don't throw my stick accidentally and primarily because of the great speed I can achieve for quick responsiveness on cymbals. By having the fulcrum between my fingers, I can use the other three digits to manipulate the back end of the stick faster than with the standard grip. Hope that helps!
And he claims to smoke weed daily multiple times. I don’t buy that part though, never actually seen the green but I’ve seen a video of him rolling Tobacco so I’m inclined to believe they’re all cigarettes unless I see the actual green. I never seen anyone use weed daily and be able to be that sharp. Most have trouble with basic tasks while stoned.

Thanks for sharing your view and impressions on this mad guy, Andrew. I'm a drummer, I've been following El Estepario Siberiano ("The Siberian from the Steppe" or "The Siberian Stepperian" in English) for a while and he was my 2020 drumming finding. I've never heard something this good with such a limited number of drum pieces. Incredible. It's too bad you can't follow his videos and streams on you tube since they're mostly in Spanish with the exception of some subtittles. In his videos he speaks about his different techniques, methods, his routines (this guy has been practicing 10 hours a day for the past ten years or so, every single day from 7pm in the morning, crazy routines). Another thing that amazes me is his sound signature and style. It's unique. Greetings from Spain. Cheers!
I love that he gets a great sound from a Mike Mangini track, who has an absolutely rediculously epic kit, and this guy has only 3 drums and a couple of select cymbals... PS thanks for the shoutout and getting to this one!

This dude is the lockdown king! Up until recently, when he got a gig in a band, he was putting out covers every day. He also used to have a clock behind him where you could see he was doing a one take cover. You should check some of the covers where he also uses that weight as a coaster for his coffee. That grip he does on the ride cymbal is something I saw a little 5 year old do that I was teaching drums. After he left I tried it and it felt so natural I kept doing it for the last 26 years.... Since drumming is fysical "there are no rules", it's the result of what you are doing that matters. This guy is proof of that drumming "outside the box" and definitely "in the pocket"👍🏻👍🏻
sometimes i do that just because of a sore spot on my finger and change to that grip just to give it a couple seconds of rest. It just came natural to me :D
Not only does he play with a double bass pedal too n faster than lightning !! He also plays with one hand and smoking a blunt with the other on songs that are near impossible to play with 2 hands !! He's Insane 🤘🏻💯

In answer to your question about double kick, he recently (couple of months ago maybe) did a video about having to get a double pedal for an audition, first time he'd used one in many years apparently. Because his thing is those absolutely outrageous linear singles between hands and foot.
He has posted his back story. Whow ! He could have done anything he wanted to do and chose this path to support himself whilst studying. He’s meant to do this. He’s possibly the greatest drummer in the world right now.

Dude Yessss. Love him 💪 dudes a legend. So glad you found his videos ive been learning alot from him and not only drums but Spanish as well 😂 always a good review when they leave you smiling lol keep it up brother
This guy keeps showing up on my feeds. This is the first time I have seen him use both hands while playing. One of my favorite videos he posted was the one where he plays with one hand while holding a clock to show he is playing in real time. Then he says people should spend more time practicing then hating. I've been a fan ever since. Thank you for sharing your thoughts...just when you think you have seen it all!!
Ya know just by chance i have also discovered that fulcrum between 1st and middle finger. Its really useful to combat cramping or if you get a blister durin a gig and i find it way easier to do a one-handed galloping rhythm at speed Hold stick between fingers Close hand losely Rest tip of middle finger on stick Use base of palm and middle finger to control the bounce Flick the wrist and almost automatically 2 ghost notes follow
This guy holds his stick the same way I hold a pen. Looks awkward but I write more comfortable this way. Kudos for drummer making me not feel weird now! :D
I've only seen that fulcrum strangeness once before and honestly it makes absolute sense for maintainable agile speed now that I've watched it in action. Great video m8.
The floor tom techniques he is using has been used by many drummers over the years. John Bonham and Buddy Rich to name a few. I am interested in the grip. Had a kid in marching band use it to play bass drum with that same grip. Never used it myself. I have seen several of this guys videos. He is amazing. Now I will go practice.
"The Bearded Hobo" I believe --- I've heard him say that in videos. He's seriously one of the most talented drummers I've ever seen --- he's played 13 yrs I believe. Absolutely incredible
This looks easy for him because it is you have to see everything he’s done your head is going to really hurt after! Absolutely 1 of my favorite drummers ever.
This guy El Estepario, Delta Empire, Anus Pastry, and 66 Samus are my favorite RUclips dummers. They all put out excellent content, I would recommend them ALL! They all have a wide range of music they cover
Been subscribed for quite awhile from Canada F57 and love my drummers, I just found this dude too and my GOD i can seriously see this being one of those miracle career opportunities for him where dream theater or outkast suddenly needs a stand in drummer and he gets a call for a million dollar tour over these videos. Awesome, Neil Peart. ❤God love him❤ has rolled over in his grave or reincarnated into this guy's drumsticks...wow. Where has this guy come from.
El Estepario Siberiano is King. .... Also, Im here mostly to say that I doubled over laughing when you said "I wonder how many other guys are out there like this that will just ... blow my hair back". Wouldnt take more than a whisper mate. :D
I spent a few months watching this guy doing covers but stopped because it bugged me at how tight his snare was. Sounds a bit deeper now and bearable. This is the best I've seen him. Great drummer.
Great reaction video! Really enjoyed your reactions...similar to mine when I first came across El Estepario a couple of years ago. And yes, his double-bass-pedal action is top drawer! Loved the wee tasted of Rhys Montague Darby from his time with "Flight Of The Conchords" - such a great show. Those boys are top drawer too, and the two seasons of their show by the same name is some of my favorite comedy TV. All the best from the Prairies in Canada 🙂

A patron has picked him again!
The “That’s what she said” joke made me make another account and subscribe again 😂
HAHA! YESSSSS
I officially became a subscriber after the Flight Of The Concords reference lmao. You sir are a man of class!
HAHA! Thanks Michael
Ya know just by chance i have also discovered that fulcrum between 1st and middle finger. Its really useful to combat cramping or if you get a blister durin a gig and i find it way easier to do a one-handed galloping rhythm at speed
Hold stick between fingers
Close hand losely
Rest tip of middle finger on stick
Use base of palm and middle finger to control the bounce
Flick the wrist and almost automatically 2 ghost notes follow
You should see his cover of C&C music factory. He does Triplets on cow bells.
This guy holds his stick the same way I hold a pen. Looks awkward but I write more comfortable this way. Kudos for drummer making me not feel weird now! :D
Great John!
I've only seen that fulcrum strangeness once before and honestly it makes absolute sense for maintainable agile speed now that I've watched it in action. Great video m8.
🙏
Incredible ,first time hearing him play a full tune 👌👌👌👌👌
How good is he!?
The floor tom techniques he is using has been used by many drummers over the years. John Bonham and Buddy Rich to name a few.
I am interested in the grip. Had a kid in marching band use it to play bass drum with that same grip. Never used it myself.
I have seen several of this guys videos. He is amazing. Now I will go practice.
Him yelling "Siii" at the end really shows that he tried this a bunch of times and he's actually siked to get it right
Yes Tory!!
A covered 21/2 for precise absolutely incredible blow my mind awesomeness. Holy cow love every bit of it. Thank you.
"The Bearded Hobo" I believe --- I've heard him say that in videos.
He's seriously one of the most talented drummers I've ever seen --- he's played 13 yrs I believe.
Absolutely incredible
Yeah it's not that long really to be at this level
He started playing when he was 12 and he's 26 now. (he said in one of his videos)
Gran esfuerzo de superación técnica. Su pasión lo acompaña en todo momento.
i use that weird fulcrum sometimes, but mostly when doing alot of stick tricks, also i find it easy to get faster, tighter rebound like that
This looks easy for him because it is you have to see everything he’s done your head is going to really hurt after! Absolutely 1 of my favorite drummers ever.
He’s a practice monster 🙌
This guy El Estepario, Delta Empire, Anus Pastry, and 66 Samus are my favorite RUclips dummers. They all put out excellent content, I would recommend them ALL! They all have a wide range of music they cover
Ohhh yurrr
A man of culture
Been subscribed for quite awhile from Canada F57 and love my drummers, I just found this dude too and my GOD i can seriously see this being one of those miracle career opportunities for him where dream theater or outkast suddenly needs a stand in drummer and he gets a call for a million dollar tour over these videos. Awesome, Neil Peart. ❤God love him❤ has rolled over in his grave or reincarnated into this guy's drumsticks...wow. Where has this guy come from.
De agora em dia, qualquer um que me diga que toca bateria, vou mandar ouvir "El Estepario Siberiano ". O cara é de outra galáxia.
The best drummer in the world xxxxx merry Christmas xxxxx
El Estepario Siberiano is King. .... Also, Im here mostly to say that I doubled over laughing when you said "I wonder how many other guys are out there like this that will just ... blow my hair back". Wouldnt take more than a whisper mate. :D
HAHA
Hahaha!!!
Yea, I died.
Bro definitivamente de otro planeta😅
Si! 👽🛸
I spent a few months watching this guy doing covers but stopped because it bugged me at how tight his snare was. Sounds a bit deeper now and bearable. This is the best I've seen him. Great drummer.
This is incredible man!
