If you're talking about people challenging El Estepario and it being a competition for him, its not, its really about inspiring other drummers. He's talked at length about talent and how he thinks its a scam; its about practice and routine but also having fun. He's satirizing. The message is if he can play it with one you can do it with two. That's what these videos are. Maybe they are a challenge but its not a personal one, the challenge is become a better drummer.

@@AndrewRooneyDrums he’s also done a couple videos where he showed some comparisons of how his playing has improved over time and it seems like it’s just been the last couple of years that he’s gone from being a pretty good drummer, to being the absolute machine we see today.
I’m not even a drummer, I’m a guitar player and I just find this guy fascinating, and I love his videos. I’d love to see if he could write a drum part using two hands that’s literally impossible for most drummers to play-that’d be the real flex, and would really raise the bar for aspiring young drummers. Like the 4 minute mile, or guitarists trying to play Flight of the Bumblebee at ridiculous speeds, just because they can.
Since I’m not a drummer, and he’s the only guy I’ve ever seen doing that one handed technique-is he literally the first, or was there someone else doing that before him even?

3:55 it is a weight inside the rusty old cowbell. the purpose of the insane amount of dampening effect he gets with all that weight, is because he plays SO fast, and combine that with the microphone pickup element that he needs to carry over to our ears, it's necessary. basically, in short, without the 10 pounds of dampening, our ears wouldn't hear the quick snaps, and we would instead hear a blur; being able to hear every single distinct stroke SEPARATE from the next, is key to his raw speed coming across clean and pure to truly convey his talent.

Hey Andrew, would love to see you react to Metallica live in their prime. I know it’s popular to bash Lars’ drumming but he was a pioneer of thrash metal drumming in the 80’s and did some phenomenal work especially on some of their earlier albums. I highly recommend reacting to ‘Battery’ live in Seattle 1989. It’s a face melter!

Kkkkk

Good morning from New England Andrew...I've been subbed to his channel for a while now and one of the key components to pulling this stuff off is to look at the kick drum he has a TRIPLE bass pedal...If he can do this with one hand what is he capable of with both hands..Peace ✌️

El estepario siberiano had a long interview not that long ago where he speaks (in Spanish) about the one handed videos, and he explicitly says it’s just for show and fun time, and also adds that those songs are not meant to be played one handed, and probably you’ll get harmed if you play at that intensity for long periods of time, so if he doesn’t nail the vid in a reasonable time span, he moves on. You can see the interview in “The Wild Project” channel here in YT.
