Love this content, dissecting a near impossible to play solo ( without the ability to read or write music ) is impressive enough, but to then play a near perfect reproduction on a greatly reduced kit is both a testament to his abilities as drummer and a musician. A force to be reckoned with, and a totally out of this world drummer. Great react!

  • @joeferragamojr

This is awesome! I Love the fact that there is a group of GREAT musicians coming up who are willing to "share" the struggle of learning how to interpret other musicians solos. Ive been a gigging musician since 16 years old. I started on the drums with gospel music like most out there. Then 25 years later we lost our bass player and I needed to learn the bass. Now 18 years later still playing both. But the mentality of ALL the "good" musicians in most genres were all secretive with their technique. I remember asking really good bass players after a gig what was that run you did in the second chorus of the 4th song in the set when you started with a pentatonic run and ended on the 4 (hypothetical situation here) ..... and the answer you'd get is ... "oh I just felt that I have no idea what I did"... leaving all young musicians thinking that there was some magic place you needed to visit in order to play like a beast!!!
It is so refreshing to see really outstanding musicians like yourself Colby Fulton and El Estepario show the younger generation that that magic place you need to go to is ...wait for it...... "PRACTICE TOWN". and you need to make your reservation in "Practice Town" a long term stay... Maybe rent a Villa in "Practice Town" and live there for some time, get to know the natives, or .... better yet, buy some land in "Practice Town" and build a small tee-pee there and learn the landscape a bit, eventually your little tee-pee will get upgraded to an apartment and then maybe you will become a naturalized citizen of "Practice Town".
Mentorship , like you both are doing to this young generation was the missing piece in the 70's through the 2000's. Now people are seeing that the way to continued improvement is mentorship!
Good Job to both of you

Yes, but the major advance on Mario is, he creates these things, El Siberiano Estepario just follows it or replays it, so in that perspective I rate Mario way over El Siberiano Estepario. Hes got an amazing groove to his playing that just hits me like a speeding truck!
And of course Vinnie Paul of Pantera, who just like Mikkey Dee, who was kind of hidden behind the dazzling sun that was Lemmy, kind of always got in the shadow of the exceptionally brilliant Dimebag Darell!

I love how ESS listens. This is extremely important in any musical context, but especially for a drummer who does not read music, it is indispensable.
ESS has built an amazing technique set by working his tail off. Remaining humble and respectful of people doing their own thing, present and past, allows him and any other musician or other person to keep learning and growing. Here is where work on listening skills really pays off, because listening to experts doing crazily hard stuff - whatever the field of endeavor (and we can substitute "reading" and "observing" and other terms appropriate for the ways we pay close attention to learn from other people in any given field of art, craft, industry, or science) - relies on our ability to understand and to analyze what we hope to learn. Whether we want to replicate a part for enjoyment or for an exercise or we want to pull a set of sounds out of context to find a way to incorporate some of it into our own new music, all the work we do to learn how to listen - to learn how to learn - makes it possible to do what we need to do.
The beauty to me of what ESS does is the way he shares the journey, and shares his enthusiasm for what he is doing. It reflects a respect for the work it takes to do what he hears in his head. That respect and enthusiasm show in his appreciation of other players.
On the format, I really enjoy part breakdowns like the one ESS does here. They give insight into how a part I don't know works, but also tell me something about how the person doing the analysis - here ESS - thinks about music and the instrument.
As for Mario, bravo - he seems pretty masterful. Somehow, I have minimal familiarity with his band (not really my thing - grunting vocals don't attract my attention). With all the music out there, sometimes things just pass you by without your knowing it happened.

The scariest thing about Mario Duplantier is how hard he hits. And he does that for a full 60-90 minute set. He’s a fucking alien.

well playing a music and creating the music is two different thing, , it's easy to be impressed by blast beat and speed double kick , Mario doesn't care and has nothing to prove at this point , he just does his stuff

Mario is one of the best no doubt about it but my personal favorite and inspiration was Neil Peart from Rush, he died 5 years ago but the music and his drumming lives on...

I love these videos! The look on your face when you see the Estepario's skill is the best. Fun fact: on a recent interview with another spanish youtuber, he said something like "When I listen to music, I transcribe them on paper like "pum pum pim", "pam pam pim pum" which is hilarious xD

If you wanna see Mario's amaziness displayed in songs, you must listen to "the art of dying", "toxic garbage island" and "the cell".
    Keep it up! 🤘🏽

It may go without saying, willing to take heat for this. It is a gift to have an ear and coordination without learning how to play an instrument. I learned how to play french horn in 4th grade not with the books given to learn how to play, I learned from the radio with Back in Black album and on a CD of Blink-182 Enema of the State. Memory,Ear and coordination goes a long way, but dedication is by far what makes any musician their best

I never heard of the band Gojira before, but cool name, and wicked drumming! I'm a subscribed fan of Siberiano. He is a monster machine, and very entertaining. Every drum stroke seems precise, as if it's the only note he's playing that day. It doesn't matter who's best, they are both awe-inspiring rhythm aces.
