He’s really a talent that transcends drumming alone. I’ve binged his videos. He’s a great motivator and generous with his time and talents. We all can learn a bit from him.
FFS. Here's the 'talent word' police. Talent exists. Practice exists. They aren't mutually exclusive. A person who has more talent will likely need less practice to reach the same level as the other. Some people are born with 60IQ and some 140+. We aren't all built the same. Get over it.
I'm pretty sure I've watched all of his videos and this is by far the smoothest, tightest, most technical yet flowing performance he's ever done! One big takeaway I have is that despite the wild drumming the track did not feel overplayed, that's a huge accomplishment!

First time I have seen this guy, WOWSER! The first thing I notice is that he seems to be barely holding the sticks, it's lke he is balancing them in his hands right at the very end of the stick. Very smooth and he just seems to float through the song. Incredible.
He is a great player- sort of established a signature style. I think all or most of the drummers you react to also have carved out a style and a "voice " to communicate their ideas and delivery. What sets him apart in my opinion is their is nothing lost in translation and its obvious and so relatable- nearly impossible to duplicate- but nevertheless relatable to the Average drummer or non drumming viewers that may not understand the subtle nuances and other techniques that are typically only recognized by someone (like you) with a in depth knowledge of drumming. He is also so very very entertaining!! He has captured what I think the average person considers a "modern drummer". Fast, precise, talented and doing all so effortlessly. I think he will inspire alot of young players and glad the drum community has discovered him.
Natural and overwhelming at the same time. I’m speechless every time I see his videos but I can’t really enjoy them, he’s so damn under control that it looks like the most easy thing of this world.
Been drumming on and off half my life! And taken it seriously the later half of that half! Ive immersed myself in a world of drums and music, countless hours practicing, listening, engaging, surrounding myself in drums amd music. I cant think of a single drummer thats able to give me chills solely from the patterns and accents/feels he or she able to create. EL Estepario does this in like 30 secounds

It has been said that mastery of any skill - drumming, football, chess, anything - takes around 10,000 hours. ESTEPARIO SIBERIANO is proof of what you can achieve with 20,000+ hours and devoting 8+ hours a day to every aspect of your craft. It kills me that no matter how fast, how hard or ridiculously technical he plays, he always looks so relaxed and calm, this guy is a phenomenon! So precise and every beat within beat is meticulously timed.
This guy leaves more talent on the top of his throne after a practice session than most drummers could ever hope to possess. The guy is so good, it's almost disturbing.
God I love this cover! Probably the most of all of his covers .. the combination of MJ, the remix and his drumming, unbelievable. I've seen it like hundred times already. And I really like your reaction, priceless ;))).
Yes, Sir. In the end you can feel the musicality in his performance. Personally I don't care about fast musicians, in any field, but when they can deliver beauty through sounds. Great analysis.
I MEAN REALLY!!!! I’ve just finished an awesome practice feeling satisfied with my accomplishments! And I watch this video! He depresses me to the point that I feel I am so far behind time! Did this guy sell his soul to the devil? How in the hell does he do this? I can live in my studio and play 10 hours a day for the next five life spans and can’t see myself ever playing remotely close to this alien! Wow, I take my hat off to him too! Truly speechless now! Peace and love to all!
Repetitive motion and muscle memory are what do the trick. That, and BALANCE. you need to practice everything equal and opposite. What you do on your right hand, do on your left foot, then rotated it to all positions equally. Once you have balanced muscle memory, you can focus on increasing speed. He also has studied many techniques in order to be able to play super fast consistent singles, on literally any limb, at any time.
I could watch this dude jam out all day. Lol. So talented...makes it look so easy and flawless and you can tell he's just enjoying it the whole time. Love it man!
The observation that its "just not a speed element, but a musicality element" is spot on. ANd its what makes him as great as he is. Clearly just playing the drums at warp drive isnt going to produce the visceral results this guy can generate. Hes truly the most magnificent speed drummer Ive ever seen, and the reason why is, he can make it notably musical as well. Hes not simply riffing at warp drive, hes adding something new and creative to the song and its all the more spectacular given the sound produced can only be achieved with an incredibly accurate high speed method that I personally havnt seen reproduced at this level before. Its clean, tight and wicked fast in the extreme, and its also musically competent. BUT, (theres always a but), this takes me back to my earlier days of exploring rock music when my tastes were almost evenly split between progressive rock and Heavy Metal, with some leaning into speed metal as my favorites. And the critical thing that brings me to this point is I recall the rather thrilling feeling in 1980 of listening to Fast Eddie Clark on Motorheads Ace of Spades album and literally thrilling to the literal speed of the guitar playing that also tended to led a musicality to the songs in some very interesting ways I had never experienced with any regularity at that speed. This really felt different and exceptional and it raised the eye brows of several of my musician friends who also loved it. We literally debated frequently the over al quality of numerous guitarists, and Fast Eddie was often raised in those debates because he was both fast, and had the ability to still somehow add some musicality. It was new, and exciting to us, despite the fact Motorhead as we found out already had some history prior to Ace of Spades. BUT, at the end of the day, once we had totally become more familiar with the style, the speed, from a few different guitarists in speed metal, and what it could and could not do on a track, we better began to properly analyze its limitations and benefits that wild speed brough to a song. And the end result was, there were indeed significant limitations in its ability to express broad musicality and similarly limitations to produce notably very significantly different soundscapes to the songs. It had some decent musicality, but the depth and breadth was naturally limited to some notable degrees because of the sheer frequency of the rapid fire notes played. After listening to the general style many times, it became apparent that while initially very thrilling and sort of breath taking to hear, it wasnt exactly the most expressive or meaningful guitar playing over all by any stretch. I can definitely say as a massive drumming fan who regularly can listen to most records and concentrate on specific instruments through out to really grasp the recording, that when I listen to this drumming it strikes me EXACTLY the very same way listening to Fast Eddie playing guitar did. Yes, absolutely breath taking. SO spectacular for what it is, you cannot help but bow and tip your hat to this kind of truly phenomenal skill. And it cannot be spoken of with enough compliments to say how fantastic it is to have a drummer who can play like this around. We deserve it, and hes simply exceptional at what he does. PERIOD. But its limited. Its limited by its very spectacular nature. Of course, it for any reason, its the style one really thrives on, this guy IS your man. But if you must have more variation, and even more musical expressiveness and more versatile stylings and over all unpredictability, this isnt your guy. But, make no error here. What this guy does is simply otherworldly for what he does. And Im truly glad he exists. Hes wonderful to listen to and watch.
I just came across him for the first time day & the dude is nuts! I listened to his history & clearly the guy puts in the work & not just hours practicing, but hours practicing to truly get better & do it perfectly. He compares it to an athlete & that is an apt comparison.
As a bass player I have to say while I am inpressed by his incredible levels of talent and technique that last 30 seconds of pocket got me REALLY excited.
He brings a rock and roll sensibility to parts that would never have been thought of naturally but only come to us after the advent of programmed drums. And he does it fast and in time. It’s like musicality and the grid intersect at this one point.

Im always interested to hear more of what you have to say post performance but you often end at that point. Which is fine too, i quite enjoy your channel. Also, i do like hearing your immediate post performance passion as opposed to editing it out (kind of like a post game interview when the athlete is still running on some emotions, thats when you get the good stuff, the raw emotion). Even if you feel you ramble or stumble for proper wording or whatever, it would be great to sometimes leave the raw post performance emotion in the video, ramblings and all. In addition, i quite enjoy your extended post performance discussions. I think a lot of your subscribers would like to hear more of your in depth thoughts (although some dont like the performance interrupted, as where i prefer your interjections..i assumed your subscribers are here to see what you have to say) but for sure after the performance. Oh and btw thank you for introducing me to el esteparios channel last year!!
I truthfully believe he's the best drummer in the world. Is he, in reality? Probably not but to me he is. I've been a musician for 20 years and I've NEVER seen anyone like him. Just unbelievable.
OMG 😱 I love this guy he’s changing how drums can be played,he really is phenomenal and his kit sounds amazing, I watched a video the other day when he had a kick pedal hooked up to a cowbell, blew my mind 😂 love it ,
Wow, you have to say he's both phenomenal and unique. Rarely have I been able to generate that much speed. But as pointed out so astutely you need all the parts.
I would of hated this version of Thriller if he wasn't playing drums to it!!! That dude is insane!! It's actually one person the RUclips algorithm for shorts got right for me!! Usually I get weird videos of people trying to use power tools and I have no idea why!! But one day a while back one of his videos popped up and I immediately went to his channel and watched a bunch. Been a fan since!!
He trained so, so, so, soooooooooooooo much, that he even doesn't need to think on what he's doing, he seems too spend no energy to play this whole thing, he plays with a face that seems that he's simply reading a book! It's kinda absurd, ridiculously absurd! Everything simply flows, this guy is a monster!
Normally I don’t like when drummers are overplaying, but El Estepario and Mike Portnoy are 2 of a few drummers where I am not annoyed by their overplaying and rather like it.
I think this too, they both feel like rather than just cramming in as many notes as possible for the sake of it, they just have enough room before their skill ceiling that they can use the available space for musicality much more fully than other drummers.
But damn. This is diesel. The drum teacher, Lou Lacava, was taught by Mike Mangini, the percussionist from Dream Theatre. (In following such a lead, who could feel that type of worth? right?)
I'm a bass player back in my day when I was younger and I've always been wanting to play drums. I bought a practice pad to just get my stick stuff figure but I'm thinking about buying a used set to take to the next level what book or training program should I follow to transform my bass knowledge to drum world?
His triplets, sextuplets and sixteenths work, especially between snare & bass drum, are mind boggling at times. If he can fit something tasty in place anywhere throughout a song,he does it because he can & he can't help it if his version of tasty is a million times better than any of ours. The two may be totally different by many miles at what they do, but El Estepario is to the social media drumming world that Jeff Porcaro was to the session drumming world. Both of them are famous and have most definitely set the bar for how to do things right.Props to both of them, regardless of whether they're here on Earth or in Heaven.
Its as if an alien sat down and said this is how a kit is supposed to be used. Redefining the instrument.....reinventing drunming and musicality. Totally a mind bending revolution has begun.
I don't even drum but always had a passion to start.. (not anymore really 😅) That being said.. This dude is the reason I got recommended this, and a million other drumming related videos on RUclips. 😂 The man isn't f'n human!!!!! Side note: I also hate reaction videos, but seeing other drummers react to him is priceless.
Your facial expression is the same that myself and my wife had when watching his rendition of Thriller. Glad you cover this piece. Quick question how many kits you own there? Cheers.
Throughout time there is always the one and then there's everyone else. There was Buddy Rich and then everyone else, John Bonham and everyone else, Peart, then everyone else and so on and so on. I not only believe but know without a doubt that we are witnessing something truly special. So we should all sit back and enjoy the ride that El Estepario Siberiano is taking us on. It is amazing!

Your face reactions WOW less stopping cause you are at a loss for word!!! He is amazing!!
Agreed!!
He is the Messi/Ronaldo of drumming ........skillful,precise,classy and fun to watch playing
Excellent consistency and speed💯
Yup! Total package 📦
He is so good you almost don't want to like him....but you just can't. Amazing
Phenomenal 🤯
I would of hated this version of Thriller if he wasn't playing drums to it!!! That dude is insane!! It's actually one person the RUclips algorithm for shorts got right for me!! Usually I get weird videos of people trying to use power tools and I have no idea why!! But one day a while back one of his videos popped up and I immediately went to his channel and watched a bunch. Been a fan since!!
He’s gotten better and better 🤯
@@AndrewRooneyDrums ,
He was good , and he improved himself , he just gets better & better 😊👌🥁
Yes , I absolutely agree , he's really phenominal 🥁👌🙂
He doesn't show how every song should be played, he shows what is possible to do if you practice.
Hard work. Quantity + quality
INCREÍBLE, uno de los mejores baterías que he conocido.💪🏻
Yo tambien!
He's the Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, Yngwie Malmsteen of drums. Mind-blowing, game-changing awesomeness.
🙌
At this point I just come for Rooney's faces, they never get old. Awesome stuff
HAHA! Thanks Roberto!
What I find at least as impressive as his drumming is the fact that it even occured to him that it was possible to drum like that.
Yup he's an original
He slays the bass drum, single pedal on the main groove
My leg cramps just listening to it
How can anyone saying this guy ain’t the greatest drummer ever
So good 👌
Normally I don’t like when drummers are overplaying, but El Estepario and Mike Portnoy are 2 of a few drummers where I am not annoyed by their overplaying and rather like it.
(In following such a lead, who could feel that type of worth? right?)
He’s a drumming machine for sure! Out of this world!
This guy is one of the most technically profiencient drummers on the planet.
MONSTER!
Numero uno.
That dude understood the assignment and nailed it.
He earned that shirt he's wearing with this performance!
Yup!
Honestly, in like a sea of super impressive techniques, his cymbal catches are just unmatched. So fast you barely see it.
Yeah, l suppose he’s ok, if your into natural talent, impeccable timing, amazing chops and a sweet beard.
🤣🤣🤣👌
shitpostmcgee, you forgot one little between him and mere mortals, his work ethic. He practices 8 hours a day every single day!!!
He is a great entertainer as well as a genius drummer. Drum manufacturers will be lining up to sponsor him for sure!
He is by far the sickest drummer out there ❤❤❤❤
Amazing talent and hard work to achieve what he has. Overplayed this tune, but it's such an incredible demonstration of what's possible!
Yup you don’t get 1.5 mill subs by playing no chops
@@AndrewRooneyDrums :) Thanks for the great content by the way, so entertaining and informing.
This guy is just Amazing! 😮
His reaction at 4:03 says it all! LOL This is what he makes us all do every time!
Yes Marcelo! 😱🫣
Mate you literally froze for almost 30 seconds around 4:40 😅 can't blame you, mind-blowing
HAHA. That sounds about right
I'm a bass player back in my day when I was younger and I've always been wanting to play drums. I bought a practice pad to just get my stick stuff figure but I'm thinking about buying a used set to take to the next level what book or training program should I follow to transform my bass knowledge to drum world?
I've seen all of the new generation "Uber Drummers"but there's not even a close second to this wizard!
🧙
why is this man not on mainstream tv absolutely awesome!
Awesome :) Thanks Andrew!
Love these reactions. He’s the most creative drummer out right now.
So good Alex!
Its as if an alien sat down and said this is how a kit is supposed to be used. Redefining the instrument.....reinventing drunming and musicality. Totally a mind bending revolution has begun.
He plays with such joy!
I can't believe he's only like three/four years older than me..... He's inspired me so much.
That’s great Tyler! Best bit is he’s honest! Simply hard work and effort
Im not sure it can get better than this. Like, honestly. Its an honest "We've reached the top Harry!" kinda thing. Like, where can you go from that?
I hear ya. In terms of shredding a cover… how much more nuts can it get?
That is his new studio, in his new house shared with two other friends who have businesses there too.
I don't even drum but always had a passion to start.. (not anymore really 😅)
That being said.. This dude is the reason I got recommended this,
and a million other drumming related videos on RUclips. 😂
The man isn't f'n human!!!!!
Side note: I also hate reaction videos, but seeing other drummers react to him is priceless.
Your facial expression is the same that myself and my wife had when watching his rendition of Thriller. Glad you cover this piece. Quick question how many kits you own there? Cheers.
Hey Alejandro. Neither kit is mine!
I'm at my teaching spot. We have a heeeap. Perhaps 30?
Vintage... all sorts :)
@@AndrewRooneyDrums thats great to know. Thanks for the reply.
Bro the fucking audio on this is fucking amazing.
Yup!!
It’s a whole new genre he’s creating Greg!
The same SugarFoot in person has written congratulating him. Its great that!!!
