We, the citizens of Rome, watch hundreds of films about our city, we host countless important personalities. However, we are grateful and fond of Russel Crowe because he comes to visit us as a genuine person and not as a star. He is not the eighth king of Rome but a fellow countryman: I think it is a better recognition.

It's great to know that about him. And many actors (that I have personally interacted with) like the same in turn. To be treated like just another person on the street and not some deity. Mostly because once you're famous, your private life and everything "normal" goes out the window.
So to know that Russel is one of those "Hey. I'm just a dude." actors is awesome.

When I was a cab driver in Banff, Alberta. Got a call to pick-up at the Picture Postcard House. Out came Russell Crowe, Burt Reynolds, Colm Meaney. The last name not known much. He was on Star Trek. I was blown away. They were making a movie called Mystery Alaska. Took them to a fancy restaurant and even got to take them back to the house. One of the highlights of my life.

"Before the taint the water" - I think he's very much aware how bad the new Gladiator movie will be. That's his true legacy.
HIS NAME IS Maximus Decimus Meridius.
Commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions and loyal servant to the TRUE emperor, Marcus Aurelius.
Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife.

Same for A New Hope when The Empire Strikes Back released. Same for the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield Spider-Man movies when No Way Home released. It's inevitable.

That's what star power is like; Tom Cruise is similar.
