I could listen to Hank and never get tired of hearing the experience and wisdom!
When he talks about the kid and his dad bringing those gifts to him and the kid thanking him for saving his dad.... man.... that one gets to me. That right there would make all the sacrifice, training, classes, overnights, missing family stuff, etc... worth it, that one singular thing.
Great stories while I study on the second half of my weekend tour.
You guys are a Hoot man I swear! This stuff is Great Thanks for sharing. 😂😂😂😂😂
I love listening to these old firefighting stories! The one about attempting rescue of the large man with pole splitting his legs is hilarious! Being a retired firefighter (cap) it is sad seeing the seasoned knowledge and experience leaving exiting the fire service! The new firefighter generation will never understand the way it used to be!
Great job salty dogs
Absolutely love the podcast Absolutely great to hear from these legends of the job and how it was back in the day. Interesting to hear about you guys there in the FDNY having an athletic club fire. We here in Indy unfortunately had an athletic club fire as well that 2 members from IFD that lost there lives on. I was just a young kid at that time but my father had about 4 to 5 years on the job when that happened and just as a kid you get a realization to what the outcome of any job he went on could be. Again love the Podcast can't wait to hear more.
Excellent stuff. Thx.
Another solid podcast!
I love Hank., I’m coming down for a St. Patrick’s Day parade with the boys and I will help make sure everybody takes their shoes off and doesn’t spill anything lol I’m the same way about my house too 🎉busting his balls .I love it
Ielpi used to tell a story about the Coke facility down the block on the other side of the highway. You guys went there for some sort of leak in 2000/2001 and he ended up with another volley friend who was rotating through 128 at the time. Not sure if the Mat was there yet but 288 was working on the leak and the other guy looked at Ielpi and said how do we know this wont blow up on us and Ielpi said I have no idea...
I remember Hank,we both received medals in 1994,i was one of the rare engine men to get one....lol

Is Hank and Lieutenant or Captain or Battalion Chief?
and if a chief when did he get promoted to Lieutenant then Captain and Battalion Chief?
FF
Conor, I remained a firefighter throughout my FDNY career, with 15 of those years in R1 and Sq.288. I was a Lt and Captain of Truck 1 Freeport NY FD also Captain of the Freeport FD Dive Squad. I was a Deputy Chief at the Nassau County NY Fire Academy. There’s your answer!
@@hankm2496 yes why thank you.....
@@hankm2496 Question, when did you retire from the FDNY?
You guys need to do a interview with Retired Lt Carlos Gonzalez from L133
good idea
