Giving Mauer and Gonzalez the same grade is a slap in the face to Mauer, full stop. He’s rated as one of the 7-10 best catchers of all time and is a first-ballot HOFer, while Gonzalez fell off the ballot on his first try.
I think it's a little presumptuous to say David Price will be a Hall of Famer, he only had 4 seasons of 170+ innings in the last 11 years of his career, only finished top 5 in Cy Young voting three times, just over 2000 strikeouts, 157 wins. I think he's roughly comparable to Johan Santana, even though he had less WAR, ERA titles, Cy Youngs, and never won a pitching Triple Crown like Johan - all that said, if Johan didn't survive the first ballot, I think David Price is going to be a tough sell. I'm also not sure Harper is the most talented prospect we have ever seen and he certainly isn't by far. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Harper fan, but A-Rod was labeled at the time and still carries - in most people's eyes - the greatest prep bat ever. Ken Griffey was also insanely heralded. Joe Mauer was mad good at the prep level, despite ending up several rungs below the previous two guys. I agree that Correa is a little overrated - when he's on the field he's something else, but that's a big asterisk. The same can be said for Royce Lewis and Mize. Mize has a wicked splitter. Fun fact about Torkelson, one only a few 1B with 30 homers last year, definitely very streaky. It will be interesting to see is Skenes can stay healthy with his pitching style, if he can - whew buddy. Anyway, really enjoyed the video! A fun little trip down memory lane. I still have a bunch of SI covers with lots of these guys them, especially Harper.
Grading the Jackson Holliday pick a D cause of a bad 10 game stint after being one of the fastest high schoolers to reach the majors in recent memory is honestly wild
Grading feels a bit random at times. Also why even include Skenes and Holliday if it’s only going off what they’ve done so far in the league? Like it’s a 22 year old who’s pitched like 4 games and a 20 year old who’s had 34 AB’s.
Griffey got an A+, that kind of sets the bar, and Mauer doesn't reach it. I would have said A- myself. If he didn't have injuries late, he may have been an A+
Yeah like the comment above said, He did not do what guys like Griffey or A-rod did. Still a phenomenal player an A is really good. But hey im just some guy on the internet lol
I then its arguable that Bryce Harper was the most talented prospect ever when he was drafted. If you read the scouting reports on Darryl Strawberry, several old time scouts compared him to Ted Williams, he was considered that good a prospect, substance abuse and effort issues, plus injuries kept him from being an all time great.
With all due respect, Baines was one of the greatest leaders in the sport. Not one of the better HOFers but very deserving of the Hall. He should be the A and Strawberry the A-
Good video. But you do need to proof read your script. Like how a guy drafted in 2006 won a game in the 2005 World Series. But other than that it’s a good video.
quick question, the video is too similar to barry mcockiner, almost uncanny. and it’s decently obvious. sorry for sounding rude but you should probably put that you had inspiration or give credit to him to avoid any future hate.
13:40 i think not signing Aiken was ok, they got the no. 2 pick as compensation next season. they used it to get Alex Bregman, along with their other pick, no. 5 which was used to get Kyle Tucker. no complaints here 😄😄

"dont even think of putting chipper ahead of him" sorry dude the stats show they were pretty much the same in terms of their talent.
I think Correa gets more underrated than overrated tbh. He's only had 1 szn where he put up less than 3.4 Fwar, outside of the covid year. He's currently on pace for 7.2 Fwar this year. He's at 36.3 Fwar right now and is under contract for at least the next 4 years. Multiple iconic playoff moments with 18 career postseason homers. If wouldn't be surprised if he has a legit shot at the HOF at the end of his career. The average SS has 60 career war and if Correa can get to 50, which is pretty reasonable, he has a shot. If Harold Baines can get in Correa definitely has a shot. A- pick for me rn
@@antbojo I semi-understand that but thinking more about it, you spend 1-2 years in the minors even as a #1 pick, longer if it's a prep kid. Couple that with at least one seasons worth of injury and you're already at 10+ years of pro ball which puts you in your early to mid 30s. Also I have no idea where these arbitrary at best letter grades came from. Anyone who's in the HoF, Joe Mauer, should be an A+. It may be harsh, but it's constructive criticism. I don't think it was a bad video but it could be much better with a few more layers of thinking added to it.
Great video. One thing though. Chipper Jones, while a great hitter, would be second at best and maybe third best all time switch hitter, not the best himself. Mantle is the clear best ever, and Eddie Murray had 500+ homers and 3,000+ hits with a .287 average. He doesn't get the respect he should, he's legit one of the greatest hitters ever, in a club, 3,000 hits and 500 HRs, with very few players. Aaron, Mays, Cabrera, Pujols, and two cheaters, A-Rod and Palmeiro. When he retired, it was just him, Mays and Aaron. Pretty impressive.
Some of these grades are a little silly lol sure Strasburg wasnt always healthy or whatever. But when you draft a player and they win WORLD SERIES MVP I think that's probably worthy of an A. Can't ask for much more than that. Especially considering some 1st picks never even make the big leagues
Luke Hochevar won the 2015 world series, NOT 2005
I was going to say, I knew you misspoke.

Youre all over the place with these
I think stras deserves at least an A-
Pithced his whole career with the nats, racked up over 30 WAR by the age of 30 and got the WS MVP
Yes he was amazing but longevity was not there but yes I can see an A-

Give this guy some love! Awesome content
Thanks!
bruh u can't even pronounce well known players name right wtf
Strasberg was the best pitching prospect ever. Unfortunately, injuries ruined his career.
Love the baseball draft stuff! Keep up the awesome videos!
Glad you like them!
bruhh you have darryl strawberry as an A but Josh Hamilton is an A+. I’m not even a Mets fan but cmon
I thought he gave Josh a B
Hamilton is B+
Harold Baines played 22 seasons, is a HOFer, and he gave him an A-.
I was skeptical the rest of the video after that.
Wicked video. Danny Goodwin hall of famer. This video rules.
best switch hitter?? mickey mantle existed
Good video idea, but the ratings are terrible.
Joe Mauer only gets an A? Dude deserves an A+

I physically cringed when he said "somehow got into the HOF"
Should have had a better grade than Adrian Gonzalez too
This video is really good! One thing though, Chipper Jones is not the greatest switch hitter of all time, Mickey Mantle is.
Also, David price is not a hall of famer by a long shot
I Respect your opinions brother
Great videi
B for Rutschman (best C in baseball) and a D for Holliday (still the #1 overall prospect)? Which Oriole did your wife sleep with?
With these takes, probably eddie murray
Real Hard on Holliday no way he deserves a D. I get his major league stint was bad but hes done nothing but rake in the Minors as a 20 year old
Good point
What are your thoughts on the first overall picks from 1965 to 1973? Besides Goodwin, of course.
You're delusional if you think a guy like David Price is getting into the hall of fame.
Good video. But you do need to proof read your script. Like how a guy drafted in 2006 won a game in the 2005 World Series. But other than that it’s a good video.

That wasn't a question
Is this the best RUclips video idea of all time?
Did you say Darryl Strawberry won 3 WS with the Yankees but didn't mention is 1 WS with the Mets, the team he's known for?
