Quite literally the most historic rivalry in all of baseball (yes, older than NYY-BOS by about 20 years). Survived a move across the country and the records are nearly equal.

2014 WS Royals vs Giants was another good one. MadBum's dominant performance, went 7 games, both teams wildcards, tying run held, and stranded, at 3rd in game 7 with 2 outs in the 9th. I follow the Royals, so that's a tough one to forget.

I agree. The 2001 WS is the best I've ever seen - and I'm a *Yankee* fan, mind you. The Tino and Brosius game-tying HRs with 2 out in the 9th on back-to-back nights (both must-win games, realistically speaking) are the most magical baseball moments I've ever witnessed. And although the end of game 7 was crushing to me, it was a fitting end to an unbelievable WS like that.

As someone who has only gotten into baseball very recently. 2016 is an obvious answer in terms of World Series

It's not mean to expect a playoff hero to win the big one. Not only do you get more games to perform, but you, ya know, win. Heroes usually win in stories.

Maybe it's because I'm a giants fan but them being a little shocked that the giants dodgers rivalry is higher than the padres one just screams their bias towards the padres. We do not like the dodgers lol

The top rivals historically have been Yankees/Red Sox, Dodgers/Giants, and Cards/Cubs. Everything else is basically in-state rivalries or divisional rivalries between a couple teams competing for top spot over consecutive seasons.

@@harmonydavis6784 Divisional rivalries now, but these are the go back 80+ years, when there was just NL and AL, and the Dodgers and Giants were on the East Coast.
