Yeah, he said it was the hardest guess and that was kind of basic. Like one of two umpires that ever gathered national media attention (looking at you Angel).
It will never not be the most frustrating thing in the world to have people say LAD-SDP is a bigger rivalry than LAD-SFG. Quite literally the most historic rivalry in all of baseball (yes, older than NYY-BOS by about 20 years). Survived a move across the country and the records are nearly equal. The Giants had played the Dodgers over 1,500 times before the Padres even existed. Recency be damned.
I get they have a lot of Yankee fans on this channel so I had a feeling yanks v sox might have placed first on this pole but never in my wildest dreams did I think Giants v Dodgers would not be number 2 and to have Dodgers Padres on this list at all shows its a bunch of twelve year olds voted.
JM Baseball has a huge hole when it comes to knowledge about the Giants. In the All-Time WAR draft earlier this week, a Giants player wasn’t taken until like the 9th pick and Jake took Bonds over WILLIE MAYS (who is #1). Now Padres/Dodgers > Giants/Dodgers?? Hard to watch as a Giants fan
Surprised the subway series didn’t make the list, nyy vs. nym rivalry. The New York subway series goes as far back as the New York Giants and the Brooklyn Dodgers and is always very rowdy.
2014 WS Royals vs Giants was another good one. MadBum's dominant performance, went 7 games, both teams wildcards, tying run held, and stranded, at 3rd in game 7 with 2 outs in the 9th. I follow the Royals, so that's a tough one to forget.
I agree. The 2001 WS is the best I've ever seen - and I'm a *Yankee* fan, mind you. The Tino and Brosius game-tying HRs with 2 out in the 9th on back-to-back nights (both must-win games, realistically speaking) are the most magical baseball moments I've ever witnessed. And although the end of game 7 was crushing to me, it was a fitting end to an unbelievable WS like that.
Going to willingly walk into a minefield here and say that put everything else about the man aside, W throwing a perfect strike first pitch while wearing a kevlar vest was dope and set the tone for the entire series.
