Absolutely agree! I could almost hear the narration of epic proportion as the music played.. just another day, little did Laura know that as she planted more perennials she was nurturing a hope for tomorrow that reached across a divided world, and a love of gardening that would be shared around the world.... Garden Answer the movie 🙃

    Just had a mindful moment.
I have watched G.A since 2016! (Omg that's been so long)
In that time we had a rental home so the garden was annuals and pots I longed for Garden of my own. My mum trained as a horticulturist at Kew gardens in the UK, and the love has been passed down like Laura and her mum.
And to see how much this garden changes in just months and years gives me hope.
So that that we have our purchased home and the garden we have been dreaming of just I too can now see leaps of progress and have the confidence in knowing that gardening is magic ingoea from dirt to green and beautiful in no time.
It's true to garden is to believe in tomorrow ❤️🌹

For the entry walk : why not have some stone pillars on either side of the start of the brick walk to add a sense of formality to indicate the beginning of entry walk and being stone they could marry the color of the flagstone to the entry.

    • @corron168
      @corron168 Год назад +17

My thoughts too! Could add some black metal/iron gates to the pillars and leave open toward the Hartley and the house entrances

If you want guests to go toward the house, I would bring the brick walkway all the way out to the parking area, so they just follow the brick path. The entrance to the flagstone patio could be along the path, maybe through an arbor or just a break in the hedge. I can't wait to see the end result, but enjoying the long drawn-out journey just as much. Always something to look forward to!

i like this idea but i would accentuate the entrance with possibly the urns you took out of the formal garden recently. an arbor could also be nice, but you can have too much of a good thing and you already have several arbors scattered about. i would want a bolder statement. like taller evergreen topiaries or something structured. awaiting the result also!

My mom has very limited mobility now and we're putting in a path that her walker can go over easily and YES I'm super nervous about picking the right pavers! It's a path for her to easily get to the car, but it's also going to be part of my garden. Very lucky I found someone patient and excellent at his work. But still, big time nerves.

I don't like the flagstone, it doesn't fit with the formality of the brick. She needs to pick a style & stick with one because while this mishmash might appeal to the eclectic, it doesn't match with the formality of the Hartley & the brick. Hiring a professional Landscape Designer would be a huge help to "button up" the hodgepodge that's going on.

It’s so exciting watching your beautiful garden projects take form; each one so different, but yet all have a unified design that suit your lovely home. Why don’t you put a large, stunning archway at the main entrance to your house 🏡 Perhaps you could give your property a beautiful name and have it etched into the wood, or maybe a big black or white metal archway with a hanging plaque? You could grow some sort of striking blooms or roses up the archway. 🌺 You could always have a smaller but similar, less grandiose archway lead to the green house. Your property is really looking beautiful. All of your trees, shrubs and perennials have so much. 🌳🌻🌲🌷

I agree, rather than trying to make the entrance obvious with the pathways, mark it with an arch, trellis or other structure. I also think if you want it to be obvious as an entrance, the bushes at the corners in that area need to be removed and replaced with something shorter and more open.

@@vzeimen I agree about removal of tall plantings. I have heard that with landscaping, you should be able to see the door.

Hell yeah! I totally agree that landscape construction is nerve-wracking! I can only go through stuff like that once in a lifetime...I need order and calmness LOL. Of course I am a member and saw part of the walkway installed and it looks absolutely GORGEOUS!

So many changes all thrown out at once makes my mind go all over the place. I would take my time in making decisions, do the research and gather ideas then make a decision that you know for sure was the correct one based on the facts. Good luck and try to take it one area at a time..

Great video today! I love seeing the progress on the hardscaping. The addition of the drone footage is wonderful. We see everything at eye level which is how most gardens are enjoyed but getting the high level view really places the landscape into perspective. I find when I am trying to convert friends to being GA watchers I look for videos that have the aerial footage to give them an idea.

Merging the flagstone and brick walkways: I can see a small fountain or statue in a circular flower bed encircled with a soldier border of the bricks. It will be a natural meeting of the flagstone and brick paths. If it is centered with the front door, it will be a beautiful view coming and going from the house. A circular structure in the center enables a good flow to each pathway and creates a lovely experience to move through the spaces. I have a similar structure in front of my house. Can’t wait to see what you do- it will be beautiful! ❤️You all!

For the entrance I would entertain the idea of another very large water feature in the center where all the paths would meet up and of course some boxwood hedging.
The leveler is called a transit. Only reason I know that is because my husband pours concrete and has one and showed me how it works. 😂

With that music I imagined an epic scene of Aaron running in slow motion with a bag of Biotone starter fertilizer to pass off to Laura. So triumphant. Anyone else?

Maybe add some evergreens in front of the parking and a brick arbor leading the way to the Hartley and a double-wide brick walkway leading towards the house? Whatever you do will be wonderful, Laura!

Thank you so much for the teachings as I wait for land clearing for new homes for my daughter and myself. I watch each video with a notebook because you share so much information about each plant. We have so much landscaping to do and it is fun dreaming about what a finished product can be.🌺🌺🌺🐝🐝🐝

Have you considered hiring an architect for help in designing your driveway? Like you, my husband an I have a definite vision for our space. We also do much of the designing and work ourselves. However we couldn’t wrap our brains around how to design our steps leading to our courtyard. We also disagreed about where to place key elements within the courtyard. We had an architect (not landscape, rather home) come for a meeting. Within minutes his comments made lightbulbs go off in our brains like fireworks. It was the best money we ever spent. The flow in the space is perfect! Sometimes a different prospective is all you need to unlock the right answer. Best of luck!
