Friggin amazing! Can’t believe it’s been just over a year since all of the boulders and soil were moved in. Thanks for opening your doors Jeremy! I’d never go inside.
Michael Young here. Jim just love this garden video. The garden is amazing. Please do more videos on this garden!!! Love it!!!I am originally from Danville VA, but lived in Northern CA and Tucson for a long time. Now here in mid MO due to family issues. Hope to move to a better cllimate, maybe yours!
The Texas Rose plant is commonly known as pink skullcap here in Texas. There's also a purple variety, medium purple coloring (more yellow based purple). They can get quite large here, they're always very lovely looking!
@@juliannetaylor9989 Mine die back (8b central Texas) in winter and come back like a perennial. You might be too close outside the hardiness temps. We've also had a couple of winters with much lower than usual cold snaps. If it's only been in the last few years, you might try again. Also I have mature trees in my yard and all around the neighborhood, which helps with insulation. If you don't have trees near the planting sight, you could try some frost cloth or row cover if temps are going to be below 20*.
Jeremy's Bristal Briar has filled in at a remarkable rate, and it is gorgeous! After seeing this video, I really need to step up my groundcovers to help suppress weeds. Jim and Stephany, did you notice the cute toad in the righthand corner of the frame at 25:19? It almost looks like a rock, what great camouflage! Thanks for another fantastic garden tour. I hope you have a wonderful weekend! ~Margie🤗🌱
Genius, with the silver falls. I have always liked the plant, but not the look of it hanging over containers. (Just me, I know) Looks phenomenal as a ground cover. I’m zone 8a, so sounds like it will over winter for me too!
I did not know either, so will try to put as groundcover too. Love the grey green and it likely will spread well in our area, wet winters, not too cold.
Wow, that garden has really come along fast. I remember the video from a year ago, with the big boulders, as if it were only yesterday! One of the beauties of ground covers means less weeding, which I'm sure most gardeners are in favor of. Jeremy has some splendid ground covers! I've got both mondo grass and vinca (small) periwinkle ground covers in different areas of my yard. Such a pleasing juxtaposition of ground covers with perennials in this video!
I'll be watching this one several times and taking notes. This is exactly what I want to do. Too old to be doing all the mulch I do every year. In the next 4 years I hope to accomplish this. Thanks very much for this information.
This is my second time watching this video and would like to find out when he was showing the Juniperus Conferta All Gold the Palm looking trees in the background (maybe yuccas) actually are. Place is amazing!!
Such an amazing garden. I live in a naturally rocky area (Zone 6b the highlands of the Hudson Valley), so lots of great ideas from this garden and no construction needed! I have been pulling weeds out of cracks and crevices and replacing with sedum, campanula, rock roses and whatever else I can find that works -- always an experiment. I have learned so much from Jeremy's garden. I can see more junipers in my future and will try the solidago. Thanks again, Jim, for such great content. And thank you Jeremy for sharing your beautiful garden with us.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful garden - the variety and combinations are excellent! Additionally appreciated is Jeremy's wealth of botanical knowledge. Please consider additional videos of the many types of plants growing in his garden.
Omg Jeremy said cattails are natures corndog and I’ve been saying that since I was a little kid. Love that. I just love the ground covers there. This garden is amazing. So beautiful.
Amazing how much work he has achieved with this garden! So many interesting plants also.the stone work alone looks amazing..like a cherry on top ..lol.. Thanks for inviting us..
Thanks for sharing this video and introducing this Bristol Briar that is Jeremy Schmidt and Meghan Fidler's home. I'm glad you gave enough information for me to find them. I am surprised you didn't include any links for their work but it was easy enough for me to find so perhaps you assumed everyone would be familiar with their work. They are so interesting and knowledgeable. I've been a viewer of you channel for many years and you do a great job! Thanks again for sharing this information on ground covers, I definitely want to source and buy locally many of the ones shown in this video Jeremy Schmidt and Meghan Fidler's Bristol Briar.
I had dichondra survive in a pot 2 winters ago in my Cary, NC garden (7b). The pot wasn't protected any differently than other years--just left where it was in summer. This spring, I got some seedlings.
great video. I enjoy seeing how his efforts turned out. I am happy that you got some of that goldenrod so we can see how it does in your garden. I also appreciate seeing such a variety of ground covers. Thanks Jim and Steph
Every time I bring up plants, my husband brings up snakes. Also it’s time that he should not be out doing yard work due to his issues. Ground cover would mean less grass to cut, but it also means maintenance of the ground cover and his issue with snakes. Vicious circle. Your lawn looks glorious! Really beautiful! ❤️
I just LOVE this garden!! It's really looking GREAT, I say good job Jeremy!!! 👍 Of coarse, when I first saw all the boulders (not gunna lie, I had boulder envy, STILL DO!) I knew this garden would be spectacular no matter what the plant material used. Now it's just a feast for the eyes!! I could spend DAYS exploring this place!!
Wow how fun to see Jeremy’s project all flushed out & beautiful even with ground covers filling in spaces. I wasn’t certain at first it was the same place until I saw you both sitting on the rocks! Thx again!
That little solidago is so cool! Thanks for the fantastic video! Love seeing your garden every time we get the chance. You’re very good at describing your thought process and I really enjoy it!
Could you identify the large silver plant that looks like a succulent in-between you two during the first few minutes of the video. Your wife panned to the plant and I thought you were going to identify it. It's right below the Black Eye Susans.
This garden is inspirational! I love the layering, variety of textures and leaf colors. I'm going to try that trick with the dichondra silver falls in my Minnesota garden. I'm renovating a long-neglected front garden overrun by weeds and quack grass and need to fill areas while I let my wallet cool off. Adding perennials one quadrant each season.
Wow oh wow every area looks phenomenal!!!! I love the berm planted up with that All Gold….absolutely beautiful!! How large were the All Gold when ya started? And one more question….can ya divide that All Gold? Thanks for the tour!! Great show!
We have purslane (not spurge) growing everywhere, and I decided that because it’s easily to pull, I just let it. If it goes to seed it creates a heavy carpet of tiny seedlings that don’t get big. I’m not sure if this is a good idea but I need something on top of my soil until I figure out what to use.
I’d sure like to take out my front yard grass & put in ground covers in its place! It wouldn’t take long for the ground covers to take over based on what you’ve experienced.
Ground cover adds so much to my garden. In many places I let several duke it out. I have lamium ajugas, sedums, junipers, weeping hemlock, creeping Jenny, and wild strawberries. I mulched with arborist wood chips this spring , and they had no problem popping up through the chips, but the weeds ( mainly perennial grass and morning glory) are much less problem.
Wow, very impressive! I saw those videos and it has come a long way in a very short time. He has definitely casted out a ''horticulture spell" on us, Jim...love what he has done, WOW! Great work on the drone footage highlighting the overall design!
Two plantsmen nerding out together "casting horticultural spells." Love it!!!
That was too funny! 🧙♂️
“If you don’t see the weeds they’re not there” That about sums it up for me too. Love this video Jim and love ground covers!!!
Does this apply to the ex-spouse as well?
PLEASE keep these garden tours coming!!!! I love them all!!!! Great channel Jim 🌿🍃🪴
His garden is one of my favorites. Please keep doing videos of his garden tours over the years.
Friggin amazing! Can’t believe it’s been just over a year since all of the boulders and soil were moved in. Thanks for opening your doors Jeremy! I’d never go inside.
Watermelon! mmmm!! Wish that grew in my yard. I'd have that as a ground cover for sure!
I appreciate this video on ground covers. I spent about 1 hour yesterday just picking weeds in my front beds.

I was wondering if it was skullcap! I'll have to give it another try. I tried twice, but they died out🤷. Zone 8a, North Texas

I loooove dichondra silver falls
Love seeing this garden and the various stages you have filmed. Thank for this one too!
Jeremy, your yard is beautiful.

Great video, I am definitely going to purchase some of the ground covers for my yard! Thank you Jim for all you do.
This is such a wonderful garden. Always love to hear Jeremy's thoughts on any topic.

I've never thought about planting. Dicondre falls in the landscape. I can't wait to try it. My creeping jenny is a beast in my garden, and I love it.
Great content! Today's video has great choices of underlooked groundcover.

Beautiful groundcovers! Who knew there were so many!
Love this topic and being introduced to some new-to-me plants.
Wonderful garden, and love the ground covers. I think we need a part 2 for 10 more. Very interesting to learn about!
Thanks for sharing this wonderful garden - the variety and combinations are excellent! Additionally appreciated is Jeremy's wealth of botanical knowledge. Please consider additional videos of the many types of plants growing in his garden.
Agree that would be super interesting.
I second the notion!💚
Omg Jeremy said cattails are natures corndog and I’ve been saying that since I was a little kid. Love that. I just love the ground covers there. This garden is amazing. So beautiful.
Wow, just wow. I remember the construction video and expected this type of growth to take years! I’m blown away.
Beautiful. I incorporated a fire pit and a goldfish and a Koi pond into my flower garden and enclosed vegetable garden...lots of work, and.enjoyment.
Love it. I started my rock garden after watching Jeremy pull sedum out and stuff it someplace else 🥰
Amazing how much work he has achieved with this garden! So many interesting plants also.the stone work alone looks amazing..like a cherry on top ..lol..
Thanks for inviting us..
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the dialogue between the two of you! Please combine your powers to help create Captain Planet😂! THANKS!
Yes!!! Love the stone guy.
Absolutely loved this video! I wrote down 5 of these groundcovers to try to get for my own garden. The Montana Minnie discovery is very exciting!
Thanks Jim and Stephany. 🌸💚🙃
That was fun. Thanks Jeremy!

“… hope it makes a garden is a better place to be” ~ thanks for this one. Gonna try a couple of these in Zone 8A.

I’m blown away by how much this garden has grown and changed!!! Amazing!
Wow amazing space! Love this ❤

❤❤❤ absolutely inspiring🎉!
Yes from the beginning to this is so amazing! Beautiful!
Again, great video & information. I found a ground cover for my side yard, Thank You.
Dichondra/silver pony foot is a staple here in Central Texas. It lived thru 8 degrees in many places in our snowpocalypse.
Gorgeous !! i’d love to see a list of these plants , because i keep have to pause & rewind to spell these long names lol
Love the transformation!
Amazingly Beautiful
Thanks for sharing
Articulate and interesting tour. May reattempt mondo grass and pamper it for a few seasons.
I sure did enjoy it ❤
I truly enjoyed this video and both of you! I learned so much about ground covers. I'm subscribed.
