Add him to the short list of “once in a generation” talent. He is so gifted.
I have been a huge fan of David's for 25+ years now and still believe, as I did back then, that he is the best male vocalist in the world and for me...it is not even close. I have seen him live 11 times now, met him at least 8 times, met his mom and dad and have been to two concerts at his home in Tn.. I am 63 years old and have followed music my entire life...I have never heard a talent like David Phelps before finding him when I heard him sing "It is Finished" with the Gaither's..., or since. The best in the world and he has been for the past twenty + years.
avidhas a true blessing from God andGod is keeping hisvoice and health vigorous because so many people are touched by his gift. David has had many excellent voice coaches. he has a degree in music and voicel.he has performed on broadway.
He’s well preserved because he is a child of the Most High God. He has always used his voice to glorify God. When you are in God’s Will, he takes care of His children. Praise Jesus for this amazing gift that we get to enjoy. To God be ALL the glory. When I listen to this song I picture a battle between God and us. He loves us so much! ♥️
His voice has actually improved from his twenties into his 50's...not diminished. Remarkable!
Plus he doesn’t have a full orchestra playing with him…only 2 instruments. It’s his VOICE that carries it!! Soooo GREAT!

I love that David doesn't cover his mouth with the microphone. That's one reason we can understand sis words so well. He is so phenomenal! His high notes are so awesome because his diction is awesome!

The first time I heard him, I immediately fell in love with his fantastic voice and his ability to write songs. He is so talented. I have every DVD and CD of his.
I could listen to this voice all day. What a God given talent!
David Phelps, the best male version of "O Holy Night" (the best female version being Sohyang ). Now the best male version of "I Have Nothing" (the best female version being Whitney). The books now can be closed as the matter is now settled for at least a thousand years or so. 😂 🙏
So Hyang has the best female version of I Have Nothing as well, lol.
@@Rosannasfriend Her English diction was relatively not up to par at that time. That's one down side but that's not all. I urge you to check out Whitney's medley version of "I Have Nothing" at the American Music Awards 1994........I love Sohyang and I'm sure her momma does too but with that version by Whitney it's not even close. That's like the Second Coming version. Glorious! LOL

2nd....if it hasn't already been said, this is not the original key. Houston's key is G maj and this is E flat maj. It still doesn't take away from the D5 he sings at the end....goodness.
David Phelps is my #VocalHero. His subgenre of a lot of his christian music is not even what i would normally gravitate towards.....however, when i hear him sing, I can be in a singing rut....or a life rut....and he makes ....me.....want.....to sing!
He is 51 now and will be 52 in October of this year. He is absolutely amazing. Have watched his musical journey and it just keeps getting better. Thank you for the reaction! And YES, this indeed needs to go viral.
David is incomparable---exactly what God created him to be. I have never heard any other singer who has the ability to sing MULTIPLE genres and, like you said, "slay" every single one! His God-given gift is a gift for all of us who are singers and music lovers 🥰 Thank you for using such beautiful words to describe his presentation---one I liked in particular---you said the sound was "luscious" and that is so true!!! His sound is so full and rich!! I, too, am amazed at how well he has taken care of his instrument. We are all blessed indeed because of it!!!

Having followed David closely for over 15 years now, I can tell you that he's like the sky: LIMITLESS.
My wife and I fell in love with him and his voice 20 years when we went a Gather Concert.
I somehow found David Phelps while pursuing RUclips on my phone. His version from him O Holy Night I fell in love with his voice instantly.
I love him singing this Whitney song with absolute PERFECTION.
I will continue to follow him.
Lovely reaction. You should be aware David is a phenomenal composer and arranger as well as an incredible vocalist. Almost anything he sings is either his own song or one he has rearranged like no one, except him, can do. He refreshes songs you think you know and it doesn't frustrate you. He is very aware of the love many of us have for the original versions, even his own, and is careful when tampering with them to give them a new freshness, without diminishing from the original. This is his arrangement. Blessings

I have seen David 11 times live, twice at his home in Tenn. and almost all from the front row. I believe I have a different viewpoint than some because of this background. I have met him and his family many times...he is an awesome yet a gracious and humble man. Best in the world from a front row view...and has been for more than 25 years.

He has a new project coming out in August called Gamechanger. This was from an online concert he did in April of this year called Stories and Songs Vol 1. He has released two other videos from the concert, Fly Again, an original composition and Can’t Help Falling in Love, an Elvis cover.
It's coming out September 10.

Please react to one if the songs from David’s new album release - Gamechanger. He’s released videos on 3 of them on video and all of the songs are in his RUclips channel. Song for Sinners is stellar and Hello Beautiful is nit to be missed as well as I Remember What We Thought Love Was with David on piano. He write, arranged and performs all 15 songs. It really is outstanding!

David's hair is a mystery to all.
When he did oh holy night for example he was already rapidly balding. His hairline had gone south and he already had a noticable balding spot on top, but then less than 2 years later he had a full head of hair, the hairline was back, and the balding spot was gone.
My assumption was that due to the drastic change so quickly that he probably had a hair transplant procedure or something of that nature, but at the end of the day he could be like Uncle Fester or Cousin It for all I care because it's that amazing voice that defines David Phelps as the greatest gospel tenor of all time not to mention my favorite male vocalist.
God bless David Phelps, and such a great contribution to mankind.👍
Maybe not a hair transplant. There are effective products out there that can regrow hair. Also the way the hair is styled can hide weak areas. Anyway I agree he could have purple hair and it wouldn't matter because of his sense of presence (passion) and his voice. Amazing singer and my favorite also.

I finally got to see David live last year and it was a night I'll never forget.
@@jeffreyb6165 I am just saying that hair transplanting is pretty obvious before the healing and I never saw any evidence of that. David always had a heavy concert schedule and was in the public eye frequently so I thought he may have used another type of hair growth treatment if he used anything at all.
I saw him once live a couple of years ago and I will never forget that concert either. Out of this world.

David is a Baylor graduate (vocal performance) and has always been amazing.
Honestly, I think David has gotten better as he has gotten older. His placement and the way he mixes up the tone color is amazing. He can sing soft and sweet or powerful and raise the roof.
He looks better because of the lifestyle he lives. No drinking or smoking, very healthy. Plus he may or may not have had hair implants. 😜

And to think this was recorded in the Barn next to his house. There is nothing like attending the Labor Day Barn Bash and Christmas Barn Bash. I mean how many singers hold concerts in a barn next to their house attended by 400 or so fans.
