Great update. I appreciate everything about this kid. By all measures he's a responsible gun owner who put in the time and effort to prepare himself in the event he be put in the position to protect himself or others. I don't know if the general public understands how incredible he performed under extreme pressure. But what I appreciate most about him is that he has shunned the limelight. Respect on all fronts. I've been a concealed-carry license holder for around two years, and training with pistol longer, but didn't start carrying regularly until that shooting. It's an incredible responsibility. It's good to hear he's getting counseling and pray that Elijah Dickens enjoys a peaceful, joyful rest of his life. He's more than earned that.

something not talked about much.. the aftermath of a shooting, the individual's property.. here we have someone who saved an untold amount of lives a clear cut case of justified use of force, and a very cooperative police force... and it still took 5 MONTHS for his property to be returned to him including a holster and pocket knife. Think of the people who've had legitimate self defense cases but due to uncooperative and zealous DAs caught in the ringer for 20 months or more that entire time their property not returned. I think it's high time we mandate limits on tyrannical confiscations... I'm all for an investigation, I understand it's need. however it's absurd to take someone's property for unknown lengths of time, for months on end, even years in some cases. limitation should be within 90 days.. that is more than enough time to run any labs they may want to do. if they need to see it again after that then so be it, but it's ridiculous that we're ok with absurd confiscations. they can do it with cash currency as well.
