The Ultra Rare But Kinda Lame CASIO BOOMBOX Keyboard | CK-200

- Showing the Casio CK-200 and talking a bunch about all them other tape casio keyboards. This funny enough being the probably best looking but least interesting in the end. Which is such a bummer based on how cool it is at first glance!

That's not a toy keyboard stuck to a boombox... it's a mini-organ with a mini-Leslie!
Wrong way speakers. Needs A monkey
The thing they should've done is stuck a *sampling* keyboard to a boombox. That would have actually been useful.
Like, imagine a Casio SK-5 boombox. Or, taking it a step further, something like a Korg microSAMPLER boombox. Sample from tape, record back to tape, then sample that again... All in one portable unit. That would have been insane back in the day.
The hypothetical OP-1 of its day.
I agree!!!
Great video! As far as I know there are just two more cassette Casios that are missing in your collection: The DJ-1/Rap-2 and the KT-40. Nice glasses btw.
Turns out you know of one more than me! Cause I only have one of those. The one where a shoutout to your latest vid fits very very well. But that is nice! I enjoy the hunt 😁😁
I’m also planning to give you massive shoutout in an upcoming video on a particular red toy yamaha keyboard btw. A seemingly very very rare and obscure one with a blue and a black sibling.
@@SimonTheMagpie I think I know which one you mean. I saw it in the background standing on the shelf as I stopped looking at the paper for a second.
The way you managed to play the static at the end was horrifyingly cool.
Super excited for the twin cassette deck one. Looks like a cassette studio in one dream
I can't stop looking at that paper
Super video as always, Simon! Love this era of Casio creations that were often great in concept but flawed in execution. I think with all the cassette player Casio keyboards, the cassette player/ recorder/ radio were mutually exclusive from keyboard section, so you couldn't use them both at the same time. A missed opportunity there... Also agree with a previous comment that it would have made more sense to incorporate an SK sampler rather than a PT based keyboard, and allow it access to both the radio and cassette sections. The possibilities that would then give you would be endless!😎 Simon, maybe you should build the Super CK-SK Casio model that Casio never did!
Oh yes, I still lust after the twin cassette CK500 and the KX101!
Yeah I agree! A sk-1 cassette combo would be epic. I think I might have to do it!! I wonder if it is possible to somehow just fit it insteas of the pt-1 somehow😆😆😆 would be nice to not have to break it, hehe
That is a glorious Casio. Brought me back to the mid 80's and tiny plastic keyboards, thank you.
"shelf sitter" is perilously close to "self shitter"
love that "soft noise" towards the end
One of these days I will immerse myself in pure noise 😁
These Casio's just make me appreciate the genius of the OP-1.
Another couple of cassette Casios to look out for are the EG-1 guitar, which is basically a standard electric guitar with a cassette player built into its body (Look Mum No Computer did a video on one a while back). Then there's the Rap Studio DJ-1, a sort of Supercharged Rapman that also has a built in cassette unit along with twin scratch platters. Mega rare though!
I'd love to get like 10 hours of static/hum noise from that to use as white noise for sleep
I'd sleep like a baby
Monday with magpie, it's official!
Synth scientists have always been on some good stuff, these things are crazy
The end sequence.. felt very nostalgic. Miasmic. Miasalgic?
It was good.
Happy new year Simon, good to see you back! 🍺
This boombox was a scene opener in Chopping Mall from 1986 (about 18:55) into the movie!!!!
I CAN'T STOP LOOKING AT THAT PAPER 😂
Pretty sick as a radio drone machine though haha
7:28 sounds like it could be sound design for a dystopian movie
10:27 Swimming through static.
Casio DJ-1/Rapman?
Maaaaaaybe 😎😁😎😁😎😁😎
Right.. Sea side cafe??
“Mom can we have a music studio?”
“We do have a music studio, son.”
Music studio at home:
I am looking at this paper...
Stop looking at this paper! 😂 this guy just made my day lol
re: medium wave awesome noises with filter, I highly recommend Gas Of Latvia - We Are The Champions, the style is essentially the same.
Makes me think of a mellotron tape loop type hybrid type thing.....
I now know what it sounds like to pass through the boundary to the fifth dimension.
Hey, at least it works well as a noise machine!! I imagine a new belt would probably get the tape recorder up and running again. Sounds like it's slipping, not transferring the power to the rollers.
I would love any of these classic tech especially Casio.
Worth it for those filtered shortwave spunds
felt like I was watching a guided meditation! Thank you!!
As a kid, these sounds I’d laugh at. Today, yeah, let’s do something with it!
Huh
Dude, your videos amuse me nicely 😂👍
Next year Teenage Engineering will probably come out with one of these, and everyone with want one. OP1 with a built-in PA would be kinda sick.
I wish you uploaded a lot more content. 😉
Oh boy....the ScamBots are back...
But what if I want to look at that paper?
"Shelf Queen"
Epic keyboard love this video
Very David Lynch.
I kinda want to use Velcro to attach an op-z to to that expensive te speaker for a stupid te version of the stupid casio keyboards. Maybe also velcro a couple magpie pedals.
Belts? Rubber tyres perished, shiny or cracked? Lubricant? If anyone can fix it you can! 👍
Thanks for the confidence but I am surprisingly unlucky with tape machines specifically 😆
First time seeing these. Awesome.
Awesome!
Suh dude 📻
A friend of mine and I found one of these at a thrift store 20 years ago for $12. He bought it and I bought a pt-87 and pt-100 for the same price.
Awesome!
Sounds like old war short wave
what the hell this is cool
COSMIC NOISE
Connect a pedal to the swim sound.
gud noise box is gud
Thanks bro now theres another piece of junk gear I simply must acquire. Lol
DOES IT COME with Casio man in Boat shoe
Hack Hack Hack!
Make some auralbeats with that lol
Hey dood
i have seen neither xD
Casio guitar
📻🎹🎶
5 minutes of introduction is too long, bro. Real video starts then. But, since it was funny, it wasn't as stressful as other people's videos with long intros and background story
The static at the end sounds like something David Lynch could build a whole episode of Twin Peaks around.
The MPC Live 2 of the 80s.
