- After last video I jumped right into circuit bending the original Casio Rapman. And it turned out it was super nice and pretty easy! So in this video I do the same to the DJ-1. Enjoy!

Most bends make an instrument more useful by adding some features, but this one does that even more than usual. This is a legit useful instrument with these bends.
Me, maintaining a disrespectful amount of eye contact with that paper:
Most relatable internet comment I’ve seen in months
Probably the coolest music ever made on one of those
This is maybe the coolest thing I have seen you ever make! And I believe I’ve seen all your videos. I want it!!! It’s amazing! Have you ever considered doing workshops?
Thank you 😁😁 you mean like in person? A bring-your-own-casio circuit bending workshop would be awesome😆
@@SimonTheMagpie Yes! that would be great, you could sell modding kits in your pedal store 😯
Love the circuit bending stuff. Excited to hear more about the new Magpie Pedals too.
Dont delay ,buy today.
They are so good, so shiny too!
You will feel like you have stolen them!
Magpie pedals are the best bird themed pedals in the world!
@@deadprivacy I did grab a Disco Noise a while back. I use it as a noise oscillator for a percussion channel on a modular synth. Good wacky fun! 😂
Some old school Jungle on that pads. ❤
A properly bent synth like this is like a Stradivarius violin to me haha.. some truly rad sounds
Got flashbacks of the Toejam & Earl Sega Genesis game from this.
I still remember an evening with an bended casio sk1.. It was awesome to the sounds the laughter, great talking with others about it
Cool jazz starts at 14:00
The feedback loop sounds like some kind of ring-modulator. Brilliant.
Glad people are keeping circuit bending alive. It’s an art form that is rarely appreciated
This is an awesome bend Simon, great stuff!!!
STOP LOOKING AT THIS PAPER!! Awesome video!
This turned out really nice.
This one has some incredible potential. Already it's doing some great stuff, just with these few bends!!! Keep bending it! Build in some time-based effects, like a ping-pong delay. Good work! You just inspired me to turn my rig on. 👍
You put the fun in funk!
What a beat! Just to good. ... 😁🤙 These are very cool mods.
@14:50 Jazz!
“Come on y’all”
The base sounds are literally one of the nostalgic sounds of my childhood and it's so weird to hear them be distorted and changed so much.
Forgot all about this tech and mechanics. Thank you
One of the best non-pedal videos you’ve done lately 👍👍👍👍
Amazing bends! That's a very cool instrument now!
Awesome. Thanks for showing the inside and explaining stuff. I have an old Casio keyboard I've been thinking poking around in. Not those models, but gives me an idea of what to look for.
I can recommend circuitbenders.uk if you wanna see some other potential clock sources that are common.
I’m dreaming of one day having a proper bank of all the different common chips in casio keyboards and listed what clock speed and source they run on 😄
Wow, the possibilities endless with that thing. Really cool !
Thank you for this! It was awesome!😃
Damn son! That is a whole new album / show right there.
Great bend!
That thing sounds so good now. You’re a bloody genius 👍👍
You should circuit bend an old style word processor or computer. One with the stepper motor printer inside. If you hooked up some floppy drives or similar motorized storage, you could make a pretty interesting synth.
nice job
That first beat was so fucking 🔥
This looks like a lot of fun
Damn thats pretty sick dude. I've seen these online, but I was never was able to get one on the bench. It's amazing how much different it sounds when changing the clock/pitch.
"Come on, yo!"
Dope! 👏👏👏
Maybe the coolest thing I've seen yet this year! I would love to just jam on it.
DOPE !
This is the nicest lo-fi sound I've ever heard. I want a full emulation of this thing as a plugin.
this was awesome.
I would love to see the pitch shifter in its own effects box with the variable rate and the feedback.
Yeah I’m currently hunting some of those ICs to make a schematic for it! I bet it would be super duper cool!!
Sounds very Yamaha those sounds .great vid, reminds me of paperboy arcade machine
Instant trip-hop.
add some delay/reverb pedal to it , it will sound waaay psychedelic :)
You should publish the schematic to exactly what was done to the circuit board so we can copy it.
Working on that 😁
Wow.....!.... AWESOME!!!!!!
Hello 👋 Men Hello 🙂 👋 I have so many Q's to you, even
just don't know where to start! :) Happy to see Yo! ;)
damn that bend lit
it seems like such a fun toy nice :D
What a machine 😂
'Bend It Like Beckh'
Simon.
Really cool bend, add tape delay based on it's player!
sounds like if jpegmafia made the earthbound soundtrack
This is making me think of the Yamaha DJX line, The DJX II keyboard seemed like a fun unit, and bet you'd have even more fun with it. There was DJX IIb scratch board unit that was a really unique unit too, not sure if it'd be as easy to fiddle with though.
Bra 🔊🎹
Bestes Video von dir ❤❤❤❤ich will die kiste direkt haben ❤❤❤❤❤
Uhh noaiiiiice ❤
That is a sexy little machine!
yooo that shit is tight!!
15:30 or so it turned earthbound like music for menus
The next thing to mod on this thing is to add an external power input to be able to use this without any batteries. 😉
I actually has a power jack! I just dont have any fitting adapter 😅
@@SimonTheMagpie Then buy one and stop using batteries. Batteries = limited working time.
Damn, I want this. Couldn't find it on Ebay.
C'mon, Y'all!
I promise..and wow this is a fun find..I still want to be In a live band with only toys..now I'm lucky enough to have a Wwwonderfull job @ AVERA THRIFT STORE .😊..I'm so glad Simon is out there,he always makes me smile.Hes a guy that would be great to make music with...I JUST WISH I could afford his BOUTIQUE PEDALS. I hope he could autograph it if I buy one,..?
Killer Clown Piano 😂
new death grips beat at 8:54
Looks like a cool project but, it would probably just end up in my closet after I played with it for 30 minutes lol
8:55 layer some extra drums on that and it’s a Run the Jewels beat
Did Simon delete his old videos? ☹️
😊😂👍🏻
"I breathed too much fumes." Like, intentionally? Can a score some?
14:17
VERY Japanese-looking circuit boards.
Voi voi voi
Dude...
Poor thing sounds like it is in pain in some parts
Omg you’ve ruined it…in the best way possible 😀👍
Great job. Now do that with a brain.
