    Now you have made me want a Casio KT100 .. I already have 4 MT70s :) Goes back to when I was a child and the MT70 was prominently displayed in a shop close to where I went for piano lessons. Piano teacher said it wasn't any use since it had mini keys .. and as a child I didn't have the money for it myself (and it was quite expensive). Many years later, after lots of searching for which was the Casio model that was stuck in my memory, I finally found the MT70 - the only one with a central LCD display - these days they can be bought pretty cheaply, though out of 4 I have, only 1 is fully operational.

    • @KeenOnKeys
      @KeenOnKeys  4 месяца назад

      Instead of the KT-100 (which will be pretty hard to find outside Japan), look for the CT-501. It is an MT-70 with large keys.

    I love how you're able to squeeze every last bit of sonic capability out of these keyboards. I like to do exactly the same. I didn't see any videos of a Casio SK-1 !! Is there a video out there I may have missed? I'm sure you could work some incredible magic out of it. I recently got one on eBay (after having used it a lot as a kid) and I was surprised how capable it is. It has a sequencer that records two tracks with selectable sounds for each track that play multitimbrally, plus rhythm and bass patterns at the same time. I was definitely not doing that as a kid. I really enjoy your channel and look forward to your videos. Thanks for the awesome content! 🎹

    I like to occasionally run drum loops through the rapmans voice pitch. By plugging an aux into the mic Input, one can run any line level signal through it...drums, synth, samples, whatever, and acts as an interesting, rare and unusual efx/distortion/degradedation typa unit...

    This is the holy grail of Casio keyboards for me. I've never seen it for sale in my country, and international shipping is very prohibitive due to its size. It seems like the only model successor from this era, where Casio actually improved on the original, (think VL-1, SK-1, PT-80) without sacrificing some other existing feature or function. Although many of the sounds are super cheesy, (which I love) there are a number of voices that border on semi-professional. When I look at the timeline of Casio mini and mid-sized home keyboards, so often I get frustrated when decisions that were obviously profit motivated ruin the progression and possibilities of a line of models. The DJ-1 was a refreshing change from what would have usually followed up a great first release.
