After jumping on the video doorbell bandwagon earlier this year my wife and I decided to add some security cameras to the exterior of our home. Since we'd chosen to go with the Ring Pro 2 video doorbell we decided to stay in the Ring eco system and purchased a set of Ring Stick Up Cam Battery cameras. I'm sure the majority of you watching this video are wondering what the video and audio quality of the Ring Stick Up Cam Battery are like so that's the first thing I go over in this video. They're 1080p full HD cameras with a 115 degree horizontal view and 65 degree vertical view and connect to your home wi-fi network using 2.4GHz wireless b, g or n. After demonstrating the Stick Up Cam Battery's image and audio quality I then move into the unboxing to show what all comes with the Ring Stick Up Cam Battery as well as just how simple these cameras are to set up and mount to the exterior of your home. I honestly don't know how Ring could make it any simpler. If you're looking for security cameras that are easy to install, that can be used both indoors and outdoors and don't require power being run to them or even a network cable; the Ring Stick Up Cam Battery is definitely worth a look in my opinion. Since they run on battery power and connect to your home wi-fi network they're completely wireless making for very easy installation. Whether they're worth your hard earned money though is entirely up to you to decide. I hope this video gives you the information you're looking for and need to help you make the best decision for you. Thanks for watching.

A lot clearer than videos seen in street crime or store robbery vids seen on RUclips.
There's a difference between evidenced based security cam playback and "who's at my door?" play back
Right I was like I can make out your face just fine at 15 ft😂😂
Thank you for the video! Very well done. I used it for the entire set up; I really appreciate you explaining how to view yourself and the surroundings on your phone prior to installing them. Thanks!
Thank you for the best video I have seen on these Ring cameras. I appreciate the thorough, detailed and comprehensive instructions. Saving to my Favorite playlist to refer back to. Terrific help to a prospective buyer.
Thank you for this review, you taught me more about this camera then ring does on its website.
I added a plug to mine, battery drained too quickly, I may have alerts/motions too sensitive but someone stole my Christmas decorations two years ago so I stay on the ready! I had solar panel however my location wasn't optimal for good sun exposure the plug is obvious, but doesn't bother me, if someone wants to steal my camera they will have to fumble with it for a bit...I'm completely satisfied!
How do u add plug to it. Id love to do this w mine as well bc i have it high up, and its pain to change batteries. I use it to watch my elderly handicapped mom who falls a lot and she can talk to me on it.
Thank you for the color night vision tip! Def worth the money!!!!! Love em!
Thank you. This is an excellent video - exactly what I was looking for!
Really clear instructions, thanks.
Thanks for this. I wasnt100% sure that these things mounted vertically. All now clear :)
Excellent description! Thank you!😊
Wow, you covered everything. Great job, subscribed.
Well done and well put together review! How reliable and/or accurate is the motion detection (especially when set it to human detection) so far? Thanks for sharing your review.
So Beautiful explained , Thanks
Great video. Am looking forward to getting it and setting it up.
That was very helpful. excellent video and overview!
Great video, certainly made my mind up about buying these now and I’ll be ordering 3 of them. Thanks 👍🏻
Roommate got the ring 2 about a year ago it's great the charge lasts forever it's not perfect but 🤷 early morning gets foggy etc the night vision gets covered but day time it's very clear for being 1080
Ring should be paying you. Your video made me make the decision to purchase Ring.
Good info. I recently bought one and it was pretty easy to get it working. I purchased a 26 foot charging cable that stays plugged into the unit so no need to keep pulling the battery out. I live in Canada so cold temps in winter might drain the battery. For the price it's good.
Where do you plug it in to keep it charging? I have one for watching my mom whos handicapped and falls a lot and its the only way she can talk to me, but I can see an outside charging plug anywhere. Im so bumbed.
@@jese2222able If it is a battery powered Ring cam there is a port on the rear of the unit located at the top. There is a plastic plug covering it. Just remove it and plug the charge cord in. I think the battery must be charged first but the charge cord will keep it fully charged after that if its kept plugged in.
Link devices is useful to catch someone running in. If someone is fast enough say around a corner, the camera WILL NOT catch them due to a slight delay. You can have camera 2 turn on when camera 1 gets triggered. That way you have a way better chance of catching someone running in a driveway. Adding solar lights to the setup greatly made everything more effective. (Brother had a bunch of low life's trying to sneak in at all hours)
Hi, great video. may i know could ring setting video recording as continue recording mode? the default is motion event recording, right?
Great Video, very informative. Good Job. Thx👍👍👍
Question- we got these for indoor - and sometimes my dad talks to me thru the 2 way audio but the volume is low is there a way to make the volume louder. Thanks !
Very informative video. Thank you.
Really good and helpful video, thanks.
These things are incredible.

_I just bought this model of 3rd gen. What wire adapter is more comparable if I need to wire them up?_
Now that you've had it for a while, How long does the battery last? And how much activity do you have?.
Excellent video! Thanks
Very informative video. Thanks
Great video! I didn't really know what security cameras to buy a few years ago so I ended up getting one of the ones they were selling at Costco. They weren't wireless, so I did have to wire them back to a central box (a bit of a pain), and the mobile app for them isn't particularly great. I might look into the Ring cameras if and when I decide to upgrade.
True, but the video quality on those are much better than Ring and you don't have to pay the monthly fee. Costco 4k or 8k series are top notch quality compared to Ring.
Thank you for a great video!
Great video. Thanks for sharing it. Set up my three cam's with ease after watching this. The app is great. Did not realise I would need a monthly subscription, then again cloud storage is not free, so happy to pay it for now.
How much is the subscription?
$10
Excellent video, thanks for your help.
You're welcome! Happy you found the video helpful. 🙂
Considering the price & WiFi features, it’s a great deal in my opinion! I have the Ring doorbell & other goodies.
That's a great video I think you done very well and thanks
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
Tbh it’s the best I’ve seen when it comes to range and image I could make u out if I had to describe you.
Great vid man
Thankyou sir for you time to explain. I will purchase soon, I have experience many theft recently
ok cool looks like they updated it... if i remember correctly the motion zones used to be very limited and coudnt be adjusted that way
If the cameras are inside does it have a regular power cord so u don’t have to pull the battery
CAN YOU MOUNT THESE CAMERAS OUT SIDE OTHER THEN ON THE PORCH CAN I MOUNT THEM ON THE GARAGE DIRECTLY IN THE RAIN OR COLD or Hot WEATHER ???
Thank You! 😊
Great tutorial
No one talks about the video storage. Does it come with a sd card built in? Do I need to go buy one?
Thanks for great information 👍
Glad it was helpful!
I have a 6.5 acre horse farm. I am looking for a system that can allow numerous cameras over time. Do you know if you can do this with RIng?
Is the wifi range good? Im having trouble with my ring doorbell and i have to move my router, will this have same poor range
Great video. I just find it interesting that you make every statement literally sound like a question. Performing instead of just simply giving information. You did such a great job?
Can it do a snap shot every minute like the doorbell camera ?
Will this work on a small front porch for a apartment?
this camera is without radial lens distortion?
I added solar panels to mine, and they keep battery charged to 100% even in winter. I highly recommend solar panels.
how did u do that
@@hihello9699buy the accessories
Very helpful video, thank you! How long did you find your batteries lasted, after all?
I'm still using the original batteries that came with the cameras and my camera that gets the most activations every day (between 10 and 20 a day) usually lasts around 6 weeks between charges. Our other cameras that get fewer activations last 2 to 3 months between charges.
oh man, the PC. its literally like looking at y own!!
Im thinking of getting one of these, i currently have a blink outdoor camera above my garage door, and it cant even see a car’s LP clear when it pulls in the driveway…
Awesome 👌🏽 review... 2 questions: Do the screws screws go into to wood without using the anchors❓️Do I have to use the anchors for drywall and with what size drill bit to use for predrilling for anchors❓️
If your screwing straight in to wood then you don't need to use the wall anchors. They're for if you're mounting to brick or stucco and of course drywall if you're using them inside.
did u pay 100.00 for each camera or is it a set of 3.your link only shows 1
And how do I connect a power cable to this camera, which apparently you can do !?
We had a 115 degree yesterday. Today the video was terrible. I got some motion detection today but the camera froze or showed a black screen. My RSSI number was 54 and green status. I’m returning them today. So disappointed, they were doing great.
I have been looking everywhere but cannot find an explanation of what home and away settings are. I don’t want the camera on all the time we are at home, but this does not seem to be achievable
What size is that masonry drill bit? I ordered one camera and need to mount it on brick so will need to drill it. Thx!
I don't know what size it is exactly but my recommendation would be to get whatever diameter you need for the wall anchors you'll be using.
can you leave it in live view?
I ordered one with the solar panel, so I am wondering if it can be left in continuous live feed?
I really wanna know if the solar works.:)
Great Video!! Does the video get saved to your phone or to a ring server? Does ring charge a monthly fee for your three cameras? Thanks again.
Ring is a cloud based service, so all the videos are saved to Ring's servers. You can download them though of course. Ring does require you pay for one of their Protect plans however to be able to save and view saved videos. If you don't subscribe to one of their plans you can only view the live feed.
So is this like a subscription type security? The plan that is. PS. great tutorial 😇 Thank you
There’s a solar panel you can attach to it :)
Thanks for this excellent video! At what distance from a wireless router do these cameras not work?
Depends on the range of your router. Most routers range is in the neighborhood of 30 feet or so (about 10 meters).
Thanks @@Maraksot78 I'll try it and add an extender if I need to
I have two Stick Up Cams (battery) on the back deck over 70' from the router--work fine.
Is the ring app free membership?
This is great video btw!
Great and informative video man! I'm going to get a few of these cameras as well. Just installed my ring doorbell yesterday..how much was the 3 camera set at Costco?
$249
Great video! A biggest deciding factor for me is the subscription plan. Right now, my cameras (not from Ring) alert me and send me clip of the video they took free of charge. Such alerts only happen once in two months, so a cloud subscription for a 10-second recording is not worth it. Does Ring offer alternatives, like local recording with a USB stick?
May I know what company you are using? Mine will alert me but will not send me the clip unless I pay...
What if the WiFi goes down before something is going to happen? Does this device have a internal recording for Wifi backup?
No it dosen't have a built in SD card. Cloud recording only. Internet must be on to record video.
can you please tell me if you need a dvr / nvr for those cameras? Are they recording somewhere or is it just live streaming without recording? Thank you!
Ring is a cloud service, so no NVR/local recordings. All recordings are saved to your account on Ring's servers. This is not free however. You do need to subscribe to one of Ring's Protect plans in order to save and view recordings. If you do not subscribe then you'll only be able to view live footage. You do get live notifications for free, but if you miss the event and aren't subscribed to one of their plans then you can go back and see it.
@@Maraksot78 thank you very much for the kind reply! To see the live recordings, I assume a smartphone (such an iphone) would prove sufficient? No need for the extra device, right? On the phone you may also check the “ring” doorbell if i am not wrong. All together on the smartphone.
@gsxr605 Yes, you are correct. The mobile Ring app is actually better/has more options than their web interface. As you add cameras/doorbells to your account you can view any of them live, or watch recordings, at any time from the app or Ring website... as long as you have an internet connection of course.
I don't honestly use a Cel phone. Is there a way to use a computer for viewing/monitoring?
Yes. You just log into your Ring account in a web browser and you can check your cameras and download recorded video there and stuff too.
This video needs more likes for how many views it has..
I cant seem to find why the volume that comes out of both of my cameras is so low. The siren is super low and so is my voice when i’m trying to talk thru the camera.
In an area with lots of traffic as in cars and people. Maybe 50 cars per day and 30 people, how long would the battery last?
Honestly just depends. You could get about 2-3 weeks before having to charge it. it’s best to set your detection zones and block off the road so the camera won’t detect cars driving by. It would definitely increase your battery life. you could set it for the sidewalk and up by your house only. And block out all the cars
Thanks We have two cameras
Great review/tutorial… I appreciate you making this high quality video about this product, it really influenced my decision to purchase it. So far installed all three cameras. Glad I went with Ring. I’m familiar with their interface, since I had the doorbell for a few years. Thanks again! 🫡
Micro USB cable for charging ?
can this device record vehicle license plates when placed facing the oncoming traffic
unlikely. video quality isn't clear even for facial features of people. Licenseplate difficult.
I am going to purchase a 3 pack next week I just want to be sure was it worth the money does it have motion sensor
yup
Cool
I can't hear anything on 2 of my cameras what could I have done wrong
Sounds great. How long did the battery last?
It all depends on how often the camera is activated and recording stuff. Whit the way I have them set up right now, the battery lasts anywhere from 2 to 3 months.
My Ring app does not detect or show the battery i put into my Ring stick up cam plugin? Anyone knows how to fix this ?
Hay my guy: Just subscribed and liked. Can I ask you one thing? Do cameras come with both types of mounts; ceiling and regular? Or: Only comes with ceiling mounts? Ring is selling these cameras on their website; but they offer no specifics as you did on the product. Good job man, keep in contact with me please. I just got robbed; so I will be needing you as a security consultant.
Thanks so much for the like and the sub I greatly appreciate it. Sorry to hear you were recently robbed; that sucks! As for your question, the 3 pack I bought at Costco came with both the ceiling and wall mounts so I don't know for certain if the cameras directly from Ring have them both or not but I would assume they do since people will need the option for either one. But again I don't know for sure. I just know what I got with the bundle I bought.
Do you needs 3 separate Subscriptions for the 3 cameras ?
No. Ring has 3 different plans, Basic, Plus and Pro. Well 4 of you count not paying for a plan at all. If you don't pay for a plan you only get to view your camera live. It will give you live notifications but you can't go back and see any recordings, only live. Basic is the cheapest and is for just one camera and unlike the free plan, you can go back and view recordings. Ring saves them for 180 days. Plus, supports multiple cameras at a single location (i.e. your home) as well as an alarm system and like the basic plan you can view recorded events for up to 180 days. Pro, I don't know a lot about because we subscibe to Plus but it sounds like it's the same as plus but adds alarm monitoring so it's more like an actual security sytem service. Here's a link to Rings site where you can compare the different plans.
ring.com/protect-plans
Any brackets for outside security?
Ring sells a mount for Stick Up Cams.
I thought that this was an indoor cam? I noticed you installed it outside is that OK? Thanks
These battery powered stick up cams can be used either indoors or outdoors.
Hi, can you please tell me if it works well in the rain, or does the rain damage it? Not seeing any comments on that anywhere. Thanks!
I have all mine under the eves of my roof so they aren't directly exposed to weather but these cameras are sealed up really well. There's a rubber o-ring around the battery compartment that seals out any moisture from getting in so they should be highly water resistant. Even the little security screw to lock the battery door has a little o-ring to prevent water coming in that way.
@@Maraksot78 thank you!
I have one exposed to the weather and sprinkler--aside from temporary image distortion due to water on the lens, works fine, Dries quickly. I did find a rubbery, tight fitting birdhouse looking cover online. Had to slit the back to get it to slide on. My purpose was more to camouflage the Cam. Two more Cams on the back deck get the rain, no sprinkler, no cover, no problem.
Where the video is stored? How far back can I look at the older video?
Ring is a cloud based service. In order to "store" your videos you have to subscribe to one of their Ring Protect plans. Since it is a cloud based service any video that is recorded is saved to Rings servers, which is why you need an internet connection for these cameras to work. You log into the Ring Website on your PC or go to the video you want to keep in the Ring app on your phone or tablet and you can download them to your device there. Past videos are saved in the cloud for 60 days. If there's some in particular you want to keep beyond that you'll need to download them.
I wonder how long the battery will last on one charge 🤔?!
Great video, how long does a battery last? And how much activity do you have? thank you.
The camera we have that gets the most activity each day catches between 10 and 20 motion events each day and the battery typically lasts about 6 weeks. We have 4 stick up cams in total and we ended up buying 2 extra batteries, so when one dies we can swap in one of the extras and charge the dead one. We usually never have to change more than the two batteries at a time because each camera gets different amounts of activity and most of them last 8 or 12 weeks.
@@Maraksot78 So you don't use a solar panel?. I bought a spotlight camp plus and Im putting it together today. But I also have a solor panel. (Larger one, Second generation) And I ordered an extra battery that's coming tomorrow. I'm hoping I never have to charge the battery, but it's cloudy in New York pretty regularly.. Sometimes we go away for 2 months in an RV.
Might have to put one in the woods so I don’t get up early for nothing during deer season
How is the notifications in other words when it picks up somebody does it show them early or after they passed by LOL
They're good in my opinion. They usually catch people shortly after they enter the motion zone and record until the motion stops. But you can change a setting to make it record for a set amount of time rather than stopping when motion stops. They're not as good as our Ring Pro 2 doorbell which has a 6 second pre-roll feature and gets everything beginning to end. But the Ring Pro 2 doorbell also costs over $150 more than a Stick Up Cam. Thanks for checking out the video and for the question. :)
Once the camera picks up motion the app will show you 15 seconds before the motion and then 15 seconds AFTER the motion
Does this camera sync up to a 5g router wifi I had problems with another camera it needed 2g
Personally every camera or low-powered device I own connects to 2.4G. So much so we gave up even having 5G listed on our router 😅 nearly all the smart devices we have won't connect to 5G
Can you connect them to 2 cellphones so wife and I can both see video feed?
Yes you can
I wonder if we could use 2 of these for my house and give the other to my dad for his house.
Yes you can. My neighbor got three of them and gave me one. You create an account with your own address and WiFi, they’re not connected in any way. If you’re thinking of installing one at your father’s house to monitor, I’m not sure how to do that since the phone and camera need to be on the same network.
@@1mollymom awesome ! Thanks
Hi, how far is it from the Wi-Fi source?
My furthest camera is 40-ish feet away from my router and the signal has to travel through several walls as well. Everything started out fine but after awhile I found it was a little too far away. It worked most of the time but there were sometimes the camera would lose connection to the network and I would have to go outside, take it down off the house, open it up, reboot it and reconnect it. I recently upgraded my router though and set up a mesh system to get better signal at all my cameras and things work great now. Knock on wood. XD ha ha ha
@@Maraksot78 thank you I will take that into account for my installation
I can't get the cover off to charge it. And I have 3 of these. I'm so upset right now
Hi being that this video is 2 years old I'm quite sure you put a end to the battery problem by going solar
hi i have arlo cameras and door bell was fine but after 2 years my doorbell was saying off line wasnt working i call arlo they told me i need to upgrade the cameras cause they were old i did they charge me 150 and told me for lifetime. 3 months later the video was saying offline when i call to chevk whatxwas going on i just upgrade nothong show up that i upgrade they stole my money here iam with no cameras and still paying 10 dollars a month for videos record any suggetions please thanks
