In this video I rank and look at twelve Marvel Omnibuses collecting first appearances and early adventures featuring many of Marvel's iconic characters!
Where this 60s era stuff really shines is just how much the colors pop with the bright yellows, reds and blues on the modern glossy paper. I generally prefer the artwork of later Marvel series particularly in the 80s/early 90s but they definitely take on a grittier and darker hue especially as the artists start getting more detailed in the black line work. The classic silver age gives a bit more room for the colors to “breathe” so to speak.
It's clobbering time! With all the silver age omnibuses getting reprint , we are truly in d boom era of these stuff. Not to mention for all the silver age fans out there of this medium, truly a great video mate! As we know it can be really wordy n rough these early years of some of these titles n characters, so it's nice to see someone doing a content like this for a change. Peace n love from Malaysia, cheers!
I originally got into omnibus collecting as a way to collect all of this classic material, so each of these books are pretty special to me! Thanks for watching!
I've been watching your reviews and I found them really interesting in order to help me choose where to follow after I've picked all the X-men and Amazing Spider-man classic omnis. I'm going to give Fantastic Four and opportunity!
Great job on this ranking! I know the Silver Age stories aren't for everyone but there are a lot of formative stuff that happened during that time. IMO, the Lee/Kirby FF run is probably the greatest series comic book stories ever!
I have every one of those omnibus as well. Some of them are still my all-time favorites. I think it's a shame that we don't have at least one (or three) "Sub-Mariner" Silver Age omnibus yet. One of Marvel's very first creations and still an integral part of the Marvel universe as a whole in the comicbooks and the movies. We've had Black Widow, Captain (Mar-Vell) Marvel, Warlock and we're getting Wonderman this year, WONDERMAN!!! Come on Marvel, Disney whomever. Please make it happen. This was a great video, thank you. MAKE MINE MARVEL...👍🏿
Great video. I have almost all of these - can’t find that Shield one though - and pretty much agree with your ranking exactly. The wordiness of these early works is what really stands out but loved them at the time and they deserve the respect you are giving them. Nice take on the ranking video, thank you.
Thank you for watching, always cool to hear from other silver age enthusiasts! The SHIELD omni is definitely due for another printing, hopefully there will be one sooner rather than later
Thanks for sharing your rankings. Unless one grew up in that era reading them at the time of publication, the silver age starters really are an acquired taste. Personally, I can get on board with The Avengers, Dr. Strange, Fantastic Four, and of course Spiderman. The others I'd have to skip a bit ahead. I should have dipped my toe into Nick Fury/SHIELD.
Yeah I can definitely understand why it's not an era of comics that everyone can enjoy but I've always found it pretty fascinating to go back and see the earliest stuff featuring all these now iconic characters!
I enjoy the silver age stuff a lot. It is generally fun. Colans art is beautiful. Ditko is so awesome.
I agree with all that!

At last a fellow lover of the silver age of comics, great video I really enjoyed watching.😁

Sounds like a good choice to me! Thanks for watching!
Love this video! Would like to see you continue this series on with bronze and modern age or even by decade
Glad you liked it, I'm thinking of other ideas for ranking videos, there'll definitely be more to come

Thank you! Yeah the Lee and Kirby FF run is one of the all time greatest, no doubt about that!
Nice rankings!

Definitely a good point, Namor is a pretty big omission from the whole silver age omnibus line
We do have a few Golden Age Omnis, which are excellent and the best version of the character, IMHO.
That was a cool concept for a video. Nicely done!
Awesome idea for a video!! You should do more ranking/top 10 lists!
Thank you! I do like doing lists and rankings from time to time, I'm sure I'll do another one at some point soon enough!
I loved it!
And now I need to go find the Nick Fury omnibus! That art looks great!
It's stunning!

@@TheComicBookTrove really hope so. Thanks again 👍

Would love to see your take on the Bronze Age
Yeah it's something I've thought about doing, I'd like to just get a few more bronze age era omnis to make it feel a bit more complete though
