I remember having The Punisher's debut issue, the Demon in a Bottle arc, Frank Miller's Ronin, the Dark Phoenix Saga, Secret Wars, Crisis on Infinite Earths and the Superman/Spider-Man crossover- I used to have a lot of these comics but time and younger siblings took their toll. What a time for comics!
Jesus, you guys just triggered a major memory of my mom taking me to the newsstand when I was a little kid and getting me comics! I had forgotten about that so thank you so much. Put a big smile on my face remembering that.
Loved this episode! I started reading comics in the mid to late 70's and remember all these topics like drugs and violence being discussed. As a poor Hispanic kid growing up in Miami, these were issues I could relate to.
The bronze age was my era of comics, I was born in 67' and started in with comics in the late 70's. I missed out on quite a bit before that but between reprints, compilations and the like I had at least a passing familiarity with most of it. Some days...some days I really wish I could go back, start sooner and be able to read them all again for the first time.
I literally just watched the silver age episode yesterday, subscribed to comic Tom, and wondered when the Bronze Age episode would premiere... and here we are. So, excited!
As a child of the Bronze Age, I truly appreciate this episode, but how could you guys forget about Shogun Warriors in the toy comic genre?? Raydeen 4 lyfe, yo!
Personally, I think Wolverine is the most unique character ever made. His metal claws and skeleton are unique only to him. His character also introduced the healing factor when everyone else just had Super Durability.
I guess he's kinda unique. But I wouldn't call him the most unique character ever made lmao. I'd say he's on the same level as Firestorm when it comes to uniqueness. And didn't the Flash have a healing factor before him?
@@JohnDoe97637 flash has accelerated healing but wolverine can survive bullets, have his body completely melted, have the metal taken from his bones etc so he has a healing factor

I prefer the Bronze Age. This age was starting to adapt darker stories and psychological trauma. The Bronze Age has some similarities to the Modern Age. Some of the Bronze Age stories are for younger audiences such as Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man, and Batgirl. In my opinion, I prefer the Bronze Age. I know the Bronze Age of Comics. After the Bronze Age, there's the Copper Age. I believe the Bronze and Copper Age of Comics, can be together as one era. Many people believed what if the Bronze Age of Comics still kept on going. For nearly 20 years. This explains why there's the Copper Age, known as the Post Bronze Age. The Copper Age, should be more like a companion and continuation of the Bronze Age. My idea naming for this era should be as "Bronze/Copper Age of Comics". Much like the Gold and Silver Age should be combined together. The Dark Age of Comics actually began with Rob Liefeld era and the start of the edgy aesthetic. This is why the Bronze and Copper should be combined together. This when the age of Patriotism and Innocence were slowly fading out. Which makes comics and other media be more philosophical, serious, mature, tragedy, and worth something fighting for. This is what feels like the beginning of the end.
You guy’s forget to mention that this era of comics introduced thanos (and I don’t know if the introduction of ra's al ghul and the league of assassins and the joker five way revenge are important) and the teen titans judas contract storyline.

Most of Bronze Age I was busy in school and didn't buy much, though I did pick up that Battle of the Century, still have it, the glue is coming off the cover now. Nice copy, bagged and boarded.
When Jack Kirby first came to DC he was asked what book he wanted to work on. He didn’t want to throw anybody out of a job so he asked “What’s your worst seller?” They said “Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen.” He said “I’ll take that one.” Inside a year he introduced The Fourth World, The New God’s & Darkseid. And made it into DC’s best selling title.
I know this is an old vid but I just saw it for the first time. Awesome history with all three eras. I'd love to see you talk about the Cooper Age and Platinum Age. Maybe even a small vid on the Modern Age.

Thank you for talking about my fav era of comics; second is 1985 through 2005, and third is early 1900s (comic strips to to comic books starting) to 1939. Since 2006 they have, in my view, been too many retcons/remakes/reboots/retellings/redrawings. Plus in 2009 Peter Parker was drawn in a way he looks buff, Parker/Spider-Man was always cool for many reasons one being he was built like a normal guy not another Superman nor Batman.
As a collector who bought comic books from the newsstands in the 70s and 80s, it didn't bother me what people thought when I bought a comic book at a store. I knew there were those who thought you were dumb if you read comics. This was true all the way through high school. It didn't bother me - until I got to college. I remember one time there were a couple of pretty coed girls looking at me like I had mental deficiency walking in the dorm with comic book. I had a roommate who thought it was dumb reading Thor even though my reading comprehension was better than that of the average college student. So, I agree that the comic shops are a great place to go. However, if you live in a small town like me, you have to drive a good distance to get to one. That's what lost from the newsstands today. The availability of buying comic books. I can no longer just go down the street to buy one. I don't blame the comic shops. I blame all of those who thought comic books were dumb.
My favorite comic book characters from the Bronze age are Wolverine The Punisher Swamp Thing Firestorm Katana Blade Moon Knight Shang Chi Cyborg Starfire Raven Iron Fist Luke Cage/Power Man Storm Nightcrawler Colossus Banshee Jason Blood/Etrigan Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Leo, Donnie, Mikey, Ralph Splinter Conan The Barbarian Black Lightning

I love how Dc and Marvel try to made their comic little realistic. Some of the comics are based on off on real life events. Drugs, alcohol, addiction, and suicidal events. Like Tony Stark was addicted to alcohol in the comics.
