I really like these videos with the small boat and shallow water. I think it makes it more relatable to a lot of people who can’t go far offshore and don’t have the skills yet to do the deep dives. Good stuff man!

Wow, this vid took me way back...
As a kid I'd go spearfishing with my old man in between the little islands off the Keys and was one of my most favorite outdoor things to do.
We had a couple of different aluminum boats - an 18' Starcraft with an 35hp Johnson for getting on the patch reefs (sometimes with a homemade hookah), and a 12' Sears semi'v alum with a 5hp motor he got from Sears for buying a set of Goodyear tires back in the 60s. 😂
Thinking back now, we killed a lot of fish off both of them boats. Great memories made.

For the onions, from what I've read in the past. It seems washing them removes sulpher which is the main "harshness" that people experience. I'm blessed to live in Georgia where we have Vidalia onions coming out of our ears, so I've never had to worry about having a "harsh" raw onion lol

Wow, you and your wife live an amazing life on the ocean. I am glad I found your channel. Not much of a seafood person even though I grew up in New Orleans and Florida, but the way you cook it all, I could enjoy eating it. I always loved the magic of seeing life in the sea. Since I was a kid, I always wanted to be a diver, but JAWS fixed that hankering for me many years ago. You look like your really good at it. I also like your dog and cat interactions. Says a lot about people who love animals. Well, I will be keeping up with your channel now and see what you all get up too. Cheers.

I had a blue crab grab my thumb as a kid. Got up under the nail to the quick. I freaked out because it hurt like a sob and my dad and brother were laughing hysterically. An old fisherman casually walked by and ripped the claw off. Problem solved. Thanks old man.

My mom got Paul Prudhomme’s cookbook with a bunch of his magic seasonings, I like his seafood gumbo, such a good dish and chicken shrimp wine bask, Paul Prudhomme is the man. I’m hoping he’s got a big chef’s kitchen in heaven cooking up a feast for the marriage supper of the Lamb, or at least one of the dishes.

Ever consider composting your kitchen scraps . Of course no citrus , in it . And using it to slowly start a small garden to grow tomatoes and a few other things that you really like . With food so expensive today you should give it a try !And Wow ! Another great video !

I had a friend that lived in Key west 22 years ago that I worked with at the old power plant. Quite the fellow. A very good mechanic. One friday nite after work he decides to go fishing out in the straits. He fires up his old boat with a ford diesel and motors out about 60 miles offshore by himself to fish for Dauphin? Anyway the motor comes off its mounts and according to him was trying to spin around in a circle. Being a pretty resourseful fellow he was able to secure the motor with bailing wire or something but it took awhile and he was very close to Cuba when he got it going again haven drifted in the current. He finally got back monday morn .got two hours of sleep.went to put his pants on and was stung by a scorpion. A Canadian fellow he was and alot of fun. Kinda miss him. Wonder how he is doing.He had a little kidee pool by his trailor where he kept a huge lobster as a pet.

Takes me back several decades to my life in the Keys and Glades, though I was constrained by how far I could snorkle out typically about a mile or so then swim about for a couple few hours then swimback in to shore. As I recall my longest day was about 9 hours snorkeling out and back north end of 7 mile Bridge out of Bahia Honda.Tired and burnt... And thirsty. I dive alone, and have, a lot. I don't know if you feel like you've found your "youtube niche" yet or not, but this style of video might be your best and most popular (alongside narrated fishing trips which are always awesome). Catch-and-cook style videos really appeal to the dream so many people have, a dream of regularly borrowing a little slice from the abundance of nature and living on it without desimating the world it came from. Integrating foraging and cooking is some of the best content ever, especially when you're doing it. Thanks man!

I used to lo e living in key west as a kid. Catching shrimp on the beach in the backyard in the winter was awesome. I wanted to go back to live in certain places in FL. For this reason. At least I get to take my daughter salt water fishing next week.

@@KeyWestWaterman my dad was military. So we lived on an island on an island. Lol. Had to gey past the guards with machine guns on the causeway. There was an island we used to go to on our boat that had a sandy beach, I assume people still use that place? Had to have a boat to gey there of course
