  • The first 30 days on a CARNIVORE DIET makes many metabolically important changes in your body, the conversion from prioritizing suger for fuel to fat. Until this settles down, usually within 30 days, cravings can be overwhelming. Here's how to outwit this.

Four months carnivore now. With the wildest sugar and carb crawings constantly. I'm walking around my house like an angry and hungry lion. This video made me realize what I have to do. ONLY SHOP AT THE BUTCHERS FOR 30 DAYS. Stay away from supermarkets. I need it to be this simple. I hope it works for me. Wish me luck. Big tanks to Mitch

Great point. I only go to Costco/Sams meat department and i rush out. I quit going tot the grocery store except once every 2-3 weeks. Grocery stores place stuff in every isle to entice you. Snacks, candy, chips, chocolate, etc… not seeing those temptations on a regular basis does help.

The key to cravings when you start carnivore is to eat more meat when you have a craving. Do not limit or count calories on carnivore. Beef, butter, bacon, eggs, (salt), etc... Eat as much of the carnivore food as you want. Your cravings for other food will go away. After six months all I crave is meat. If I do have a veggie or non carnivore meal I regret it as my body feels terrible.

Buying an air fryer was THE best decision I made. I can cook a 1” ribeye 7 minutes each side @ 400 degrees. It comes out perfectly medium rare and the best part is - no grease everywhere. Easy cleanup.

When you said to have food ready "quickly," I actually cried ... because I feel like I have been fighting "cheating emergencies."
I had been carnivore since July 7 ... until the holidays destroyed me.
I have been trying to get my control back.
    When I started carnivore ... cold turkey ... I didnt cheat at all ! ! !
And when the holidays hit, I told myself that I would have "just a little bit" of sugar items ... but I have been struggling ever since.
One little cheat became several days which never end ... and I told myself that when the holidays were over, it would be all better.
    I am suffering so bad.
Every morning, I tell myself that this will be the day that I get back on track.
And I have failed every day.
I wrote to you once ... When you cheat, getting back on track is like climbing a glacier wearing ballet slippers.
I have discovered that "just a little bit of sugar" is like "just a little bit of heroin."
I have never done any kinds of drugs, I am not interested in alcohol, I have never smoked.
But this sugar addiction has me jailed.
I know that the only way for me to get my control back is another cold turkey ... but my body is fighting me ... "Excuses are like dirty socks, everyone has them, and they all stink."

Both my doctor and my therapist recommended "journaling".
To write down everything that you eat, and all of your feelings and goals, and words of encouragement.
      I have a pretty "journal".
      I write poetry.
Often, I just draw pictures in it.
I write all of my appointments in it.
I cut out pictures from magazines and tape them in there.
It is something to look at when I have nothing to do, like waiting somewhere.
I dont journal "everything" ... only positive things.

Knuckled down again New Year and am coasting along again now, loseing weight is great and a must 55 and 22 stone, but the thing that has amazed me the most is the relief from pain, arthritic and inflammation soreness in much of body, gone, no meds again, clarity of mind and peacfull sleep, nothing short of amazing, when i went on binge in December pain was back within 3 or 4 days. Week back Carnivore gone again, stick with it folks truly life changing......great pep talk Cheers

Thank you, Mitch, and thank you to all of you who replied to me.
I wrote down all of your advice, and put it up on my refrigerator, and I am working on all of it together.
I cut pictures of meat meals out of magazines and taped them around the kitchen... I drew some pictures of my own, along with encouraging sentences.
I have finally gotten back on track, as of February 1 ... it has been one week now that I have not cheated.
This is my first success since the holidays began... it took me this long to get back on track.
The line is "One day at a time" ... but I have been taking it one activity at a time ... I focus only on one thing that I have to do, and dont think about anything else, as if nothing else exists.... such as....
Get up, take a shower, get dressed, cook breakfast, eat breakfast, wash dishes, etc. ... and with each small separate activity, I think of nothing else but that activity, and I congratulate myself that I made it that far without giving into anything that I am not supposed to be doing, and for pushing all of the bad thoughts and cravings away from me.
That was my strategy ... I constantly failed, but I repeated that first day many times until I finally succeeded to the end of the day... it took me many weeks to have one day of success.... a video calls this "compartmentalizing."
So, it has been one week of success, and my control is very weak ... I am hanging on to keep going and not cheat.
The cravings are driving me insane ... my triggers are everywhere, all the time ... I have been crying every day.
I cant remember my first attempt at Carnivore in July being this difficult.
I have been watching Carnivore videos constantly, some of the same videos several times... they help a lot.
All that I can promise is that I am trying ... and that if I fail again, then I will try again.

Mitch... you are so right. Are you left handed or right handed. There are a few ways to butcher an animal. When I went through culinary school I asked the Exective Chef instructor how he kept the weight off... he was very slender. He said the trick was not the consumption of calories but the consumption of starch. He suggested that I limit or remove flour, rice, and Posta from my diet. I followed his advice. After a while I found it easy to eliminate these foods entirely. This action helped me a lot . I ate more vegetables but concentrated on low carb vegetables. This brings it to today. On carnivore for a little over a week. Yes, the sugar monster has made its presence known. I have gone through a few days of digestive discomfort, and it has been very controllable with meat. Hope this long-winded explanation is helpful to some.

I started keto 6 days ago. I guess you could say I’m easing my way to Carnivore. I’m 64 year old Grandma. 16 year breast cancer survivor ( my 1st & 3rd cousins who had similar types of breast cancer had a recurrence after their 10 year anniversary….they died). 😢 I had gastric sleeve surgery July 31, 2014. I lost 120 pounds in 14 months. I kept it off the first three years, but each year since, the weight has come back. I stopped cardio/weight training. I’m definitely a CARB ADDICT! I want to take control of my life. Keto/carnivore seems crazy! It goes against everything I’ve been told. It’s drastic. But I think I need drastic. I’m not having cravings. I’m having a hard time enjoying meat and all the other foods included in this lifestyle. Thank you for this video. Now, I’m crying my eyes out! Ugh! I need to get a grip. I’m probably going to have to watch your videos a least 100 times…..God, please help me. I want my health back. I want the inflammation/pain to go away. I have a wonderful family and life. Thanks, again for this video. I’m praying for ALL of us, including your daughter. ❤

Losing that much weight in that short amount of time is NOT healthy! THROW AWAY THE STUPID SCALE FOR GOODNESS SAKES! That is NOT healthy - to always be weighing yourself. You go for how you feel and your clothes sizes - that's it. And stay focused on your HEALTH - not how much you weight. THEN YOU WILL SUCCEED!

I appreciate your encouragement. 🩷

Hi Mitch, another great video, thanks for sharing.
Curious, how are you getting on with that power tower you bought over New Year? I also bought one the same as you, but found I struggled with it, so ended up buying a bunch of resistance bands, which have been a game changer 😊👍

    • @OldGuyCarnivore
      @OldGuyCarnivore  5 месяцев назад +14

Funny you should say that. I bought the bands as well. They do make all the difference and add so many options. I plan to make a video about how I use all those things to have a pretty complete workout without the need for weights.

That’s a great idea. I would love to see that 😃
It’s also a good tool for some stretches. And if one currently doesn’t have those bands, a towel can be used too ☺️
