Going to do that fix and thanks so much
Hello JagTV (father & son if I understand correctly) !
Many thanks for all your great videos.
One question : the back cover of the wing mirror is scratched (Xtype). I would like to replace it but not change all the wing mirror (just want to change the back cover). Could you explain how to remove it? I don't want to damage it. Should I remove the mirror to get access to a screw? Many thanks!
Hi,
The wing mirror cover can be easily removed without removing the mirror assembly. The cover is held on by clips inside the cover and does not use screws. To remove you will need to separate the cover from the mirror body by prising apart at the top with a thin but strong blade. I recommend protecting both halves with masking tape or similar to avoid damage to the plastic or painted surfaces. Once you have opened up a gap just pull the cover gently away from the mirror body. I have added a link below showing the the cover fittings. Good luck and thanks for watching.

Thanks ! Actually I succeeded to remove it manually :-)
Now I am looking for a new one (mine has scratches), if you know an online reseller... ?
You're very welcome. There are many for sale on Ebay. Check out the link below. Had you thought about repairing your scratched one. They are quite easy to fix.

I'm thinking of painting the cover with this : www.chipex.co.uk/ or this colorndrive.com/gb/touch-up-paint/jaguar-x-type-midnight-mica-pef,66269/details
What do you think?
fish are good at repelling water. nice one.
I have a 03 Jag S-type R , USA ... Do all R's have power folding? Mine doesnt seem to or its broken. Thank you for your channel I now feel confident on attacking some of the minor things on my car where as before I would not because well frankly there arent many out there and no one has videos on it.
Hi - yes the STR has always had folding mirrors as standard.

Hello, I would like to ask if a WD-40 would do the job. Cheers for the video, really helpful!
Hi - WD40 is what we used in the video - so yes it works well.
Many thanks, my friend!
Hello JagTV! Can you make a video how to remove a part of the headliner to get to the sunroof front draining pipes? I tried to unclog mine, but they are properly blocked! Thank yoU!
Hi Wojcjech - I'm sorry we don't make videos on demand and also our S Types don't have sunroofs so we won't be making a video. Have a look at the following link which may be of help to you.

@@jaaagtv Understood, thank you!
Are you guys on the jaguar forums by any chance?
Hi. One Question. Everything’s working in my 2001 S-Type. Only the Mirror-Heating is not. Fuse is okay. So i guess it’s a cable problem. The orangecable for heating goes into the door so far as I can see. Or has the two motor and the heating any connections? I have 12-13 volts, 7 Ohm but 0 ampere. Without Ampere there’s no function of course.
I would next check that the mirror heating element is working by performing a resistance check across both heating terminals wih the cables disconnected.
Hello. In my S-Type 2001 (pre facelift) the folding mirror on my driver's side stopped working all of a sudden, but the passenger side still folds. It still makes a clicking sound when I flip the rocker switch on the door. Could this be an indication of corrosion like in this case or something else? There was a time in the car's life that the folding mirrors were never really used for the longest time. Usually nowadays it would take several clicks of the switch before it can work. Thanks for the help.
Hi - Always difficult to diagnose a problem remotely. If you can hear clicking from the mirror then the electrics would appear to be OK. There are two little servo motors with plastic direction mechanisms which can wear out or break. A visual check would confirm this. However I would suggest that you remove the mirror cover and inspect the condition of the mechanism. It may just need cleaning. Give it a good spray with WD40 - allow it to soak in (few hours at least) everywhere and try operating it again. Hope this helps.

Thanks! I'll work on getting it opened first. Hope that its only cleaning needed. Do you suggest placing silicone grease or something to stop it from rusting in the future?
Silicon grease is a bit too viscous and it tends to "creep". Just do regular checks and spray WD40 which is a natural fish oil based product that can be sprayed safely on electrical components.
Oh okay then. I'll just stick with the mighty WD40. Thanks again.
Is there an actual switch you press to fold them - as I can't find it ? .... Thank you
Put left/right mirror switch to central position then press mirror adjust at 6 oclock position and hopefully both will retract, good luck. 🇬🇧👍

Hello. Is there a special button for folding the mirrors?
I bought 2006 Jag S-Type SE just 2 days ago and I'm still not sure whether the mirrors are power folding or not :-) I can't even fold them with my hand, I don't want to break something.
Helmut Green Hi, congratulations on purchasing your new Jag :) The electric folding mirrors are operated by putting the rocker switch (the left/right selector) in the middle position, then briefly holding the down position on the four-way switch. More details available on page 90 of the user manual here: www.jaguar.ie/Images/S-Type_Global_MY07_tcm102-91483.pdf
Hope this helps!
All the best.
Jag TV Thank you very much :) I tried it today, but nothing happened. Now I don't know whether my mirrors are not power folding, or whether they are just not working properly :-/
Helmut Green Hi, no problem. According to the parkers guide, the electric folding mirrors were fitted as standard on the SE until Feburary 2006. From then onwards they were an optional extra so it may be possible the option wasn't fitted to your vehicle. Someone over at www.jaguarforum.com may be able to help you identify whether you have this option.

Thank you again ;) But first I have to sourt out some problems with oil leak. There is some oil on rear diff, but also somewhere in the front of the car, but I don't know where exactly. I should put some cardboard under my car to see how much oil is leaking. I hope it will not be too expensive to fix it :-0
Helmut Green Funilly enough, my dad has come across an oil leak recently on his 3.0 V6 SE coming from the front of the vehicle. We managed to trace the leak (by removing the belly pan) to the oil pan gasket (£40) and will be uploading a video for replacement over the coming weeks.
How do I work my fording mirror
how to open a stuck hood on a Jaguar 1998 if the cable is broke
Hi,
You haven't specified which model Jaguar. If it's an S Type then it would be from 1999. Is yours an S Type?
No it's a Jaguar XJ8 Vanden plas 1998
Hi Keith,
This is not an issue we have come across (yet). However this link to Jaguarforums.com may be of help.
