I appreciate your help only video on here that was self-explanatory everyone else showed the before and after with no actual work❤🎉
Thanks for posting, I just bought a cherry 2002 S-type and had to change the light assembly after killing my first 10 point buck. ( It was a great deal easier than trying to shoot one) It's worth remembering that the light assembly is $600 bucks new but I found one on ebay for $95 and all bulbs were included.
Muchas gracias por compartir esta experiencia
nice informal job ...... lol thank again very helpful
I have a 2006 3.0. With jag, it would not surprise me if you had to remove the entire bumper for a basic bulb replacement. But in this instant, it is not the case. The bulb can be accessed from the back of the light assembly. The procedure described in the other comments worked for me and it was a ten minute fix.
not with an hid kit it cant
maybe the 3.0 has more room I can tell you one side might be possible with a standard bulb. But on mine there is no way you can get your hand in there
Thanks for the video man, Couldn't find a video anywhere else on how to do this, upgrading the Jag to some 6000ks once the weather warms back up... I've been dreading doing this big job but it's going to be worth it. The aftermarket bulb is a DS2 right? I subbed hope to see more videos of the Jag.
Have you checked your headlight adjusters? Most likely they're broken, a common issue with these Hella lamp assemblies used on many cars of this era. I've done two adjuster repairs - an '02 BMW E39 and an '04 Jaguar X-Type. Both required baking the headlight assemblies in oven to soften the adhesive so you can split them for repair.
Yes mine is repaired with the ghetto screw method. You don't have to bake it just drill a hole and ghetto fix it
I'm terribly sorry to tell you this after you making such a great and informative video but I just replaced the low beam headlight on my 2002 S type in less that 10 minutes. Sorry. I was damned if I was going to take half my car about to change a damn bulb. I knew in my heart that Jaguar mechanics didn't do that and there surely must be an easier way. I replaced the one on the drivers side. The one on the passenger side is probably a mirror image. Here's the deal... turn, twist and pull off that 3" diameter plastic cover just below where that other orange bulb goes. PUT ON YOUR GLASSES if you wear them. Have someone hold a BRIGHT LIGHT in the area of the low beam bulb so you can see in there well enough to see how that little wire clip clips into that one groove closer to the dash. It's a bit tricky but you can do this: push in and away from yourself and soon you will see/feel how that clip lifts up and away from the base of the bulb. Pull the bulb out of the houseing and then pull out of the socket. This might need a little bit of help with a flat screw driver. Replace with the new bulb, stick it in the housing and get that little with clip to hook back in. Yes, it's just a little bit tricky but you can do this. It's not rocket surgery. Put the 3" plastic cover back on. That's a little tricky too put it screws in. I forgot to tell you that the big plastic cover that covers the entire area from bumper to bumper comes off really easily, just pull on what looks like a plastic screw. Good luck and let me know if I've saved you from an entire bumper pull. Peace.
If you were able to do this I am impressed. I could do that (with alot of frustration) on the drivers side but no way on the passenger. Did yours have the v8 or v6
I find it much easier and way less of a headache to just remove the bumper
how does this old car look so good, its old but i want it too!!!
I think you are describing replacing a non-HID bulb. I have both types of S-Types and yes, you can change the non-HID bulbs this way, but the igniter and ballast that are exclusive to the HID system take up all the room behind the bulb housing.
You have little baby hands or something. I'm trying to do what you described and I can't properly fit my hand in there to do anything. I can feel the clips, but I don't understand how to undo it. Its foreal pissing me off and taking off my bumper is not an option at this point.
Pls make more videos this is helpfull
No problem bud. I just lowered the car and added hids in the fog lamps. I also just added a subwoofer and it sounds awesome. I'll post some vids soon
***** thanks
She's a Beaut. Try finding a mechanic for a D? "Delorean." Thanks for sharing. You are the Man. I am getting way to old for so much Frustration.
Thanks brotha. Yes I love the cars man. Love them.
I'm having difficulty getting the bumper wiring connector unclipped from behind the left-hand wheel cover. Can't see well enough to know how the plug/socket are secured. It looks as if you managed to drop the bumper without disconnecting?
I have a 3.0 and you can access it from the engine. Wow thats too much work for the 4.0
***** well id rather have a v8 and spend an hour dropping the bumper bud
Do i have 2 do the same 4 the blinkers??
Does anyone happen to know the size of the bulb housings? I'm interested in installing Halo lights, but not sure if they'd fit in the housing. Can you please tell me if the sizes are 5 3/4 &7 inches?
What makes headlights not come on
Many things
Have you done anything else on this Jaguar?
+SuperAbt Did you look at the other videos?
Wow definitely helps to look in the owners manual… you don’t even need tools to change a light bulb on this car. This is not the correct way…
You are 100 percent wrong. Maybe if you have the v6 variation without HIDs, there is more room under the hood. On the v8 version with hids, this is the ONLY way. Stop spreading fake news brah. I have three cars and am quite versed on working on cars. I assure you, you cannot get your hands inside the lens to properly seat the hid ignitor. If one has little tiny kids hands maybe on one size but chances are you will break the fragile hid ignitor. You most likely have the base jag with standard non projector lenses and standard halogen bulbs, and most likely the v6 version.
I didn't have to do all that at all. I just popped that back of the housing out and put the others in. Took me 10mins. Go to my instagtam @officialmillionaireLo you'll see the video
But good job on yours and I'm smaller lol I'm 5'3" 150lbs so it was easy for me
Look for your Instagram but that name doesn't exist
You also must have the 6 cylinder s type
fuck me all this to change a blub
Some folks say you can reach behind the housing but in my opinion you'd have to be a child. I'm not sure about the v6 version but on mine there is no way and I don't have big hands. Plus what makes it difficult is putting the ballast back on the bulb. Definitely a pain even with the bumper pulled . The system sucks I just had a new issue where one of my headlights and fog lights work intermittently. It's not something easily diagnosed and fixed either.
Too much talking.
you could always F-OFF and not watch it.
Maybe say thank you for the free youtube video that may help a few folks out you huge steaming pile of SHHHHHHITTTTT!
