What to do when Windows Update gets stuck and is frozen? Just follow the step by step guide on how to solve this issue.
Power down the computer or laptop by holding down the power button for 3 to 5 seconds. Now start the computer, you will need to do this procedure 3 times to get to choose a option screen. From there, choose troubleshoot/Advanced options/Uninstall Updates
Click the Uninstall latest feature update option
or Uninstall latest quality update

I don’t think Windows is buggy, but Windows 10 is the buggiest operating system of the Windows series.
Man, my mom was going to have a very important presentation with a PowerPoint document at 12 and it was 11:30 already and she totally forgot to save it in a USB and the computer started to update and it was stuck at 0% for like half an hour and after I saw this video it stopped the update and we could recover the file! Thank you very much, you saved my mom's presentation. :)

Lol the same happened to me, mine was stuck at 100%, I started panicking, came to this video and it finally loaded normally. I'm so gonna shut down all updates from now on, I don't want to go through this anguish again.

It would make more sense, if it automatically rolled back the update, if it got interrupted (via a force shutdown, loss of power, or crash)

Edit: maybe they put some sense ito there system but you need to shutdown and restart your system and wait for like whole 20 to 30 mins

Wow, that is a big update for such a small program! At least, you probably don’t have a bloated hard drive like i have, so it shouldn’t be as buggy.

Whats the point in these updates if they break my pc...every time I click update and restart it gets to 30% and freezes makes me mad...if windows are going to push these updates make sure they work...I thought this video would show you how to get the update to install do you know how??
Yeah I got the same issue... I have tried for several months now to install an update and it keeps getting stuck at 85% and I could not find a solution yet.

Mines a laptop it’s stuck at 90% I have no access to my mouse and it won’t restart it’s been like this for a day.
I still have a test that I have to complete by Tuesday where I fail and an essay that I have to write by next week or I fail
Found the fix.
You have to completely shut off the laptop until you hear the motor stop running turn it back on and while it’s turning on continuously press F 12.
When you do that and then the diagnostic screen will pop up use click run diagnostic, Allow us to do it stain keep pressing yes and then when all of it is done then you press exit and it’ll restart the computer

No offense, but just saying yes I restarted 3 times doesn't tell me much. Did you Try using the QR Code to see if it said to do anything? You could have shown the shutdown each time and shown what happened in-between those shutdowns. When You did it the first time did it just boot back up and show 98% again and stay there or did it do something else. When you booted for the 3rd time did it automatically come up to the choose option screen that you show us, or did it boot to the screen showing the update and then all of a sudden go to the choose option screen.

It says “you have pending update actions and we will not be able to uninstall the latest quality update…” it is not happening as you said so. İt restarts the computer and try to continue to update. The stuck on the update screen continues…

I watched this video, but, I'm not getting the same options for "Advanced Options". I get six options, "System Restore", "Go Back to the Previous Version", "System Image Recovery", "Startup Repair", "Command Prompt", and, "Startup Settings". So, far, I've tried "Go Back to the Previous Version, and, I get an error informing me to try "Reset Computer". I never seem to get the same options as those explained in any RUclips Video.

I remember my friends dad, pc tek, used to call it percussive management. He also would threaten it verbally with being replaced and I swear it always worked. "Hits laptop" -- Is not as sturdy as desktop as it broke completely....

Hi. This video is exactly what I need right now! I upgraded to 10 Pro so I could delay the auto-upgrade to 1903 until a couple of months passed and it looked relatively bug-free. I didn't hear any horror stories, so I let the pause expire. However, MS tried to update my pc from 1803 to 1809 ($&*%*#!!) before it would install 1903 and, as you know, 1809 was a living nightmare! I thought MS pulled that one because it was so bad? So now my machine is stuck, trying to download and install Feature Update 1809. Nine failed attempts so far and each one with a new error code. Multiple trips to the Troubleshooter for repairs and retries and it just continues this loop. I was actually glad when it was frozen this morning. I shut it off, turned on a different machine, and found this video.
2) My problem is, since it is no longer frozen, I can't use this video as a solution. Is there any other way to access that program you reach by forcing it off three times (so I can uninstall this cursed update)? It just turns on and off every time I try to get there.
@gilkesisking ~ Thanks. I don't think that's going to be necessary, but if it IS... at least I've done it before so it won't be totally alien to me. I'm going to try and create a Macrium Reflect mirror image tomorrow morning as well as a backup of all my data before I try anything.

This has happened a number of times Brian usually freezes at 30%, but if I then power down when it then reboots it continues fine, win 10 oh the joys. Don.

When I did this on my laptop a few months ago, it worked perfectly. Now, having forgotten the basic thing .... after shutting down each of the three times, then powering up again, is it just to the stage where you see action; the stage where you see action up to the login area; or up to seeing action, seeing the login page AND logging in ... before we shut off using power button?

I have a PC which was upgraded from Windows 7 and a laptop with Windows 10 from the start. I have had this issue with the Windows 10 upgrade on the PC that had Windows 10 as an upgrade from 7, but not in the laptop.
In one of the latest announcements from Microsoft about discontinuing support for Windows 7 at the end of 2019 they said to go buy new equipment because although 7 can be upgraded but it is not recommended. I wonder if they know this issue is common on those upgrades but they are not planning on fixing it, so go buy a new PC.
I done that a long time ago and it messed up my master boot file which I tried multiple methods to repair none of which worked and it seems my rescue CD was corrupt
