I think Sato reuniting with RLL is quite possibly the best career move he’s had. (Sorry Andretti.) It’s amazing that with RLL, he gained 4 victories and has shown to be a better championship contender but can still improve. Sato should continue to drive smart and really know when to be aggressive or not. (Even if it’s his trademark, No Attack No Chance is not always the way)
@@CoSmicGoesRacing Sato is not always attacking recklessly, so he is a lot smarter than he was in F1. He had lost a few chances to win in F1 but he has won several races in Indy which means he has been still improving. He is definitely one of the greatest.

I wish i was that competitive and aggressive as both Sato and Dixon are in their 40s! Indy has finished three times with Dario under yellow and one with Kanaan under yellow as well. They never needed GWC and they never will. Stop trying to turn indy and any other sanctioned body into NASCAR I'm not sure if it's a matter of luck by now but the fact Alonso's teammate, a 21 year old from Mexico who hs has never raced on the indy 500 before, has finished 6th speak volumes to me Great result from soon father-to-be Rahal as well! A podium is so much better than last year's DNF. Gutted for Rossi and Palou. They were locked in for a promising result, maybe even a victory. Overall, great race! As usual one of the best races of every year if not the best! Looking forward to Gateway, a track where Sato won last year!
Exactly! I've been watching the Indy 500 for the past 20 years and have seen numerous finishes under yellow. Lots of fair weather fans or Nascar fans who think every series should have a GWC finish. I'm a fan of both, but hated the playoffs and GWC finishes.

No wonder why people call it the UFC/WWE of motorsport, for people who think good finishes consist on cars being torn up and drivers getting hurt until they reach the white flag (if they ever do) Also, i wonder where were these people when Dario won all his 3 under caution, same with Kanaan
@@andrewtan881 it likely would have taken far too long, considering how hard Pigot's car hit. A green-white-checker would have been exciting, but I don't think everyone would have wanted to wait 30 min or an hour of red flag for 3 or 4 more laps. That piece of gear likely just saved someone's life, so it was better to take the less-exciting decision, IMO.

Wondering...if the red did fly, would the drivers be allowed to get out of the car during that long repair? I know you can't work on them but I "think" you have to stay in them too. That may have lost the race for both the 40 yr olds up front.

They call it "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing" for a reason. It delivered. Ok, Yellow [finish] was controversial , its not the first time and wont be the last. Congrats to Sato. He earned it [as did the last one] .
Greatest racing spectacle is somehwhat of an over statement. Pikes Peak Hillclimb, Isle of Man TT, moto GP is super interesting at times and any WRC race, especially the one in the snow is very amazing too.
As I said, its [yellow] controversial and much as I would love a green to chequered flag , it seems to be tradition to finish under yellow when a crash [of which there were plenty, hence 'Greatest spectacle in Racing'] happens right at the end [of race]. Compare that to modern F1 when races are won [by a certain driver in a certain Mercedes] before they have even started. Had there been a green to chequered at last Sunday's Indy, there were any of at least 3 or 5 drivers who could have won but it was the controversial Yellow that handed it to Sato in the end. It seems to be the rules and rules are rules.
Race should of been red flagged @ 6:21 nice way to ruin a good race. Also you might want to look into caution laps not counting as official laps. You waste so many laps. Caution comes and the driver pit. Make it so they don't advance in position.

I was gonna watch the Nascar Dover Race on FS1 since we had much channels than last time, that wasn't until our cable got messed up and we've been trying hard to fix it but it's still malfunctioning. That wasn't until I realized that our cable might've been expired the day before the race. So I was thinking to myself "What should I watch?", and I saw this in the Guide and so I watched the Indianapolis 500 instead. It was a great race. Congrats to Sato btw!

Marco only has 2 wins in his 15 year racing career. I always thought he was a mediocre driver. He gets all the hype because of his last name. Talent wise he's no where near his grandpa or even his dad.

legit decision at the end. you cannot race with that pit barrier in that condition, its life threatening, you need to repair it properly
Would’ve been more exciting if they red flagged it though. That way they can repair the barrier and then carry on the last 5-ish laps under green.
