With Helio's historic 4th 500 win, Thats now 6 different winners in 6 races. 5 different teams have won at least 1 race, we have 3 first time winners in Palou, O'Ward and VeeKay and we also have a first time winner for a team in Meyer Shank. IndyCar is as competitive as it has ever been.

Dude I was sitting very high up between 3 and 4 (closer to four in the short chute), my mom is a die-hard Helio fan and I could not believe I was seeing history like that, I had tears in my eyes dude, can't forget I'll be going in 2023 so can't wait!!

One of my favorite memories of "The 500." Seems like only yesterday.
Congratulations Castroneves! Been watching this guy win races in the IRL since I first started watching racing in the early 2000's! So, glad to see him back on top of the greatest spectacle in racing again at this age!!
That's exactly what a seasoned professional with a thorough knowledge of the entire 500 miles of this race understands and uses his tactics to match. Something which the new "young guns" will learn as they gain experience. There is so much talent in this group of young drivers that IndyCar has a bright future! Already looking forward to the 2022 edition of "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing."
Back in 2014, when Helio did a runner-up behind Ryan Hunter Reay, I was there. I could feel the frustration that Helio had. But then and now, as always, Helio has been my all time favorite at Indy. I am more than happy about his victory. I hope his fifth win at Indy soon.
2023 here after 2023 Indycar season. Helio Castroneves's 2021 Indy 500 win as a 4 time indy 500 winner feels like eternity due to how sweet the victory truly is.❤
This was one of the best Indy 500s! The race was competitive throughout with lots of lead changes, especially in the last few laps. In addition, there were no serious accidents and perfect weather. Most importantly, this was a historic race as Helio Castroneves won his fourth Indy, to join A.J. Foyt, Al Unser Sr. and Rick Mears as the only four-time winners of this legendary race.
@Robert Norris; I had always hoped that Dario would have been able to take his fourth win as well. You are correct that this was one of the best Indianapolis 500's in history & I've been an ardent fan of this race since 1961.
I gotta say that the broadcast crew was excellent. Lee's intro coming to the green flag was terrific and the combo of Townsend and PT are awesome. Only ding is against Marty Snyder for not asking Helio about the last few laps in victory lane. That is inexcusable and Marty should be replaced in the victory lane role.

No kidding, I was like, "Why the ^%$^%*&^ are you showing me the fans at (other than the finish) *THE* most important moment of the race. I really want to see why that start, to me, was a mess. The first three rows, at least, were no longer rows but a giant blob. Back in the day they would have waved off a start like that, but I guess not anymore given how delicate these cars are. At 00:59, when they finally show the head on view down the front stretch, there are *no* "rows of three" and they haven't even hit the Start/Finish line yet. I will say though, that I was amazed that you could see from 1st to 33rd all together from Turn 2 back to Turn 1, which I haven't seen in years.
You guys never showed JPM’s car (a indy car champ & two time 500 winner) even tough he went from 24 to 9th man. Not even on the pits... that could’ve been way better cause he was my fav driver in the race. You could at least show everyone a few times
Do they really have time to do that. And they did show him a few times, for example when he was doing something like an overtake. He even shows up in this abridged version of the race. Also some of those passes might have happened while someone else was passing for the lead. There's 32 other drivers in the race and I'm sure the fans of the leaders would have been disappointed to miss any action up front if it was also happening when you're favorite was doing something.

I'm a first time watcher here from F1 and i have a question. How come Romain was not in this race? Is it because he is a rookie this year or can you just choose not to race?
After his crash last year, Romain decided that he only wanted to race the road courses in Indycar. For the ovals, he hands the car over to Pietro Fittipaldi.
I like Dixon and would have been happy for him to have won the race but can’t help wondering if Dixon’s running out of gas wasn’t a bit of Karma for accordioning up the the pack and then getting on the gas at the start. If he did it on purpose it was a very selfish move. It could easily have caused crashes that would’ve put others out of the race on lap one. He’s a very experienced driver and it’s hard to see that move as accidental.
we have enough tired used up f1 midfielders already....... alonso had his chance and blew it not taking the event seriously and committing to it 100% and look at what 2nd and 3rd year young drivers are achieving instead of old f1 fly ins.
