And I passed five cars in the slow lane on the highway today. Fortunately this has as much to do with IndyCar as F1 does.
If you really want to get into comparisons though, let's talk about how amateur these drivers look in comparison to Formula drivers. How many accidents where there in this race on a very wide oval circuit compared to Monaco with an extremely narrow and uneven surface with 18 turns?
How much practice have the drivers had on this circuit compared to Monaco? Indy drivers have had 19 hours minimum of track time over the last two weeks.
F1 drivers had three, 1- hour practice sessions in two days. That's 3 hours. And they have qualifying on the same day of their last practice.

There is a good view of them from ground level coming out of turn 4 and 2 seconds later screaming by. Then come back and comment if you feel the same way. @@ImminentDebacleOne reason for the crashes is because Indy cars actually race each other. These cars run much closer together than F1. F1, much more often than not, is a parade and there are less crashes because there’s no racing action. Monaco is, always has been, always will be, a parade but, for Monaco, I’ll admit, a lot of that is how the circuit is laid out. The cars are impressive but the racing action sucks. Racing got better after Liberty took over but even C. Horner once said “after the second set of pit stops, you can probably just go ahead and wave the checkered flag” due to the fact nothing really happens after those pit stops.

I saw a practice during week 1 on Thursday where Newgarden and Power went out by themselves and tried to pass / defend each other like it was the end of the race and I noticed Newgarden was better than Power on that end of the track even in practice.
To be fair it's hard to pass into the 3 than it is into 1. Newgarden had a super car. I've done my share of picking apart what Pato should or shouldn't have done at the end of some of these Indy 500s BUT honestly, I think Pato had to pass Newgarden into turn 1, I think that was his only play. If you one want to pick about how he passed Josef, and how the pass could have been executed slightly bed; that's fine; BUT it was the end of a tire stint, running full rich, at the end of the Indy 500. I personally can't fault Pato much at all.

It's to the point where I have given Marco Andretti the middle name Lloyd Ruby, after the Texan who should have won Indy at least twice in the 1960s but never did win in 18 tries: "Marco Lloyd Ruby Andretti."
And he's probably screwed, because there never has been a first-time Indy winner making his/her 13th or later start of the 500. The farthest into a career that any first-time 500 winner has been is their 12th appearance, which has happened three times: Sam Hanks in 1957, Tony Kanaan in 2013, and Josef Newgarden in 2023. By this metric, Marco, who is now 0-for-19, was screwed when he failed to win one by 2017.

28:09 Here is where he lost the race. He dips down to the inside 28:10 too much. He should've been 28:11 a car width off the white line. Had he been a car width off the white line he could've and should've blocked to the high side sooner. Had he managed to get Newgarden off the gas for 1 second he wins the race.

Monaco GP: the two Haas (Magnussen and Hulkenberg) crashed with Sergio Perez in 1st lap and local hero and poleman Charles Leclerc won his home Grand Prix.
Indy 500: Tom Blomqvist ruined Marcus Ericsson's race, collided in 1st turn on 1st lap, but Scott McLaghling didnt coverted his pole position into a win because Josef Newgarden won Indy 500 for second time in a row.

If The IndyCar Series is to Grow They Need All The Seats Sold Out For Every Race Like Formula 1. If there's a Track Near You Don't Sit at Home and Watch on TV. Go to the Race. I Personally Would Love to Have Them Come to Virginia International Raceway. No Stands & Seats or Local Support However. I'm Transplanted From Indianapolis and Have Supported IndyCar Since the '70s and One of the Few Around Here Who Put IndyCar in Front of NASCAR. In Fact I Never Watch NASCAR Anymore.

F1 this weekend was so boring it sent me to sleep; no overtaking for the top 10 cars, they finished exactly as they lined up at race start. On the other hand there was the Indy 500…..how many overtakes during the race? It was breathtaking 😅 Great race, shame Aussie Mcloughlin didn’t get there but huge congrats to the winner, awesome dive around the outside to claim the win. F1 is dead RIP

15:20 Callum Ilott (15) should have exited the passing lane. He slammed on his breaks in the passing lane causing contact putting so many people in danger. It should have been a disqualification..... Indy 500 should not kill the pit crew or put anyone in danger.

It's been a while since watching any part of the Indy 500. Still exciting and glad the sport is safer than it was. Lots of rookie mistakes, but some of the accidents were avoidable if the driver just used common sense instead of depending on the safety measures to push the envelope. Jim Clark(rip) is still the best driver in my book.

I gave up on F1 when Schumacher left. The best engine (aka biggest wallet) is 80% likely to win the championship. Once ever 5-7 years the chassis makes a difference making a bit of a contest of it. If you want competition it's usually 5th-10th place providing it.

Even if your team is owned by the series and track owner and your sponsor is the official fuel of the track and speedway. Even if your team is a proven cheater, it’s a huge accomplishment. Forget the haters Team Penske you guys owned this one.
