These last 2 years have proven how bad the decision to leave Belle Isle was for racing. They tell me this event makes money but lord is it hard to watch.
That was a better track, but speaking in terms of local interest, folks around here didn't like losing total access to the island for a weekend or that local businesses really didn't see much lift from tourism since all of the spending happened at Indy booths on the island and not at local businesses. I was at the race over the weekend and you definitely saw a livelier downtown vs. the years it's been on Belle Isle. Hopefully, they can retool the city track to something better because I don't see the city/state allowing it on the island again.
Ferruci needs to calm the F down, for his own sake - he’s trying to be aggressive and make a name for himself but he’s always involved in incidents even from Practice nowadays lol If I was his team owner I’d be thinking seriously about what his future holds.
The original Detroit street circuit from 89-91 was a proper ball to the walls street circuit, this however is a completely butchered version of that track.
If Indycar is a intent on continuing with this circuit for the foreseeable future, some of the corners, especially the first one, need to be adjusted or redone. Way too many collisions/cautions.
Drive to the car, track, tyres and weather first, then to the opposition second. Then penalties for mistakes should be tough and stupidity even tougher. Penalise stupidity and you will see better driving.

This was a lesson in how to destroy all the goodwill generated by the Indy 500. IndyCar was wise to drop the Nashville tourist route they pretended was a racing circuit. Detroit is yet another tourist route. It cannot be raced on with anything bigger than a shifter cart or with less suspension than a trophy truck. It is time to move to a different location, IndyCar. Detroit is an embarrassment that completely destroyed the momentum that was generated by a brilliant Indy 500.
That is definitely not racing, but a demolition derby, those cars are very difficult to drive, in top of that the track is very bumpy and narrow, every race except for the Indianápolis 500, there is not strategy but complete chaos, pit line is a hazardous place to work, but the spectators pay to see a circus, what a shame that no capable people is involved in race planning and direction
19:46 indy cars are tough. Numerous f1 cars would have to retire just from the front wing bumps. You cough on a f1 car wrong and it will be parked for the day.
While I have fond memories of watching F1 racing on the streets of Detroit, the cars are just too large and fast (and delicate) to race on the rough streets of the Motor City. At least Belle Isle is less heavily traffic used so is a smoother circuit.
Incredible every restarts was push back by hairpin carnage, pourchaire debut bit distracted by contacts, Ericsson late charge didn't paid off, the champs and experts got punched all in front power who killed his strategy, Palou & Newgarden meet eachother at the hairpin, herta saw the gap but didn't make the turn, Grosjean was kicked off from a bull, Dixon needs now 9 wins to equalise AJ Foyt and by the way taken another historical title 👍🏆🍾🤩⚡

This was an aweful ugly race at Detroit, it reminded me of why I quit watching NASCAR with their constant wrecks. Indycar needs to do something at narrow tracks like Detroit like maybe (single file starts and NO passing allowed for the first 2 laps) so cars can get in a line and get up to speed for a couple laps before they can even try to pass. Allowing them to bunch up on a narrow track with cold tires makes for ugly racing.
