Grosjean felt that hit by Ericsson a thousand kilometers away.
I think ericsson hit us
I feel kinda bad for Grosjean, everyone thinks he said Ericsson hit him when it was his race engineer lmao
Congrats Takuma Sato once again!!! 2x Indy 500 Champion!!! :D Only other F1 podium/or winner that has won the Indy 500 twice this century is Montoya. Wow Sato!!!
When you think about, Montoya could win Motorsports' triple crown if he wins Le Mans
@@indyracingnut Helio never drove in Formula 1.
Wall: I think Ericsson hit us.
*Gross Jean disliked that*
Lol, that got me.
Cool seeing you here
Grosjean laughs
A man of culture i see
For everyone complaining about the race finishing under yellow, the wall Pigot hit was destroyed,
It would have taken hours to fix it, so INDYCAR made the right call to end it under yellow!
You wait all year to watch this race , So , What's a couple of hours . This part of the wall has been hit before and the race continued .
Go watch NASCAR if you are looking for the Daytona 505 or the Talladega 507.5...
It's called the Indy 500 for a reason.
If all you want is a playoff / shootout you can watch any other sport. This is why every lap matters and why college football should *never* expand beyond 4.
@@shiii36 Things change for the better for a reason. This is a much safer Indycar then it was in the past.
Sonny Sonny 3 laps is cool but it’s not worth waiting 90 minutes.
Props to the safety teams arriving on the scenes incredibly fast, glad to see everyone okay
The rescue crews fumble too much with the fire extinguishers before getting the fire suppression contents on the base of the fire.
@@davidhoffman1278 the trucks they use seem inefficient as well, needing to get out run to the back of the truck to grab an extinguisher then to need to run around the front again just wastes to much time, they should have extinguishers attached to the front and back of the trucks.
@@comeatmebro3229 These guys are LITERALLY the best in the business, and LITERALLY invented the techniques and tech that has saved multiple lives, and then spread to NASCAR and F1 and beyond. I'm pretty sure they don't need your computer chair advice.
@@drumjedi5301 so you are saying having extinguishers on the back of the truck but not on the front makes more sense then on both sides? having extinguishers on the back is fine if you pull up ahead of an accident bit when you pull up behind its just inefficient, here fire marshal trucks need to by law have extinguishers on the front and the back.
not saying the fire marshals are bad im just saying the trucks could be set up better
JD gave FIREstone tires a whole new meaning.
Lol
I was thinking: “geez, I haven’t seen THOSE colors inside a wheel too many times...if ever!”
no, didn´t you notice that the car is an RWR? that 51 is just cursed
So much sports on now! I had to watch NBA, Nascar, Champions League final, Indy, MLB like it's been great for sports fans
haha yupp the delay due to covid and now we have a tsunami of sports, not like im complaining :D
Don’t forget abt f1
I love it
And Football in 2 1/2 weeks 😆
Screw the NBA, MLB and Nascar.
Congratulations Sato on another brilliant race/win!
Always pulling for you!
I forgot Alonso was in this race 😂
I think it was a myth he was in the race
@Shawn McDonald FACTS. I'm pissed he's returning to F1 for the same reason. The next F2 champion, Formula E champion or Nico Hulkenberg for example are much more deserving of an F1 seat, even if it's with Renault.
@@JanitorIsBack even Max Chilton finished ahead of Alonso. MAX. CHILTON. That's how you know Alonso is washed out.
Alonso’s washed up, I’m glad he’s going back to the borefest sport as F1
Shawn McDonald calm down and realize Chevy powered cars stood no chance against Honda
Takuma Sato get his 2nd Indianapolis 500 win.
Coincidentally on Alonso's 2nd Indy 500 race 🤣🤣🤣
@hecksters423 Yes
@@hecksters423 And Sato's first win was during Alonso's first race. Given that Alonso is committed to F1 the next couple seasons, I guess Sato will have to wait until at least '23 for his third win. :)
Lucky, race should have been red flagged
Warren Adshead It would taken ages to fix that antenuator
Great to see Sato win.
Out of all the hype, Marco didn't lead one lap smh.
Marco didn't even finish in the Top 10.
I know right, figured at the start Dixon was gonna show dominance and Andretti would give him the big F U and come back around him. I'm a little baffled by it, maybe he was gonna wait until the end to show his hand ? 😆
Hehe! Marco only drives because his daddy owns the team. He needs to go.
sounds like Marco to me. I don't like him, but I never actively root against him, because I never need to.
Dixon just pounced on that start.
Took the draft and was gone till Sato entered picture.
Takuma Sato is one of the best drivers to race Indy. He knows how to race this track. To wild in the past, but know he's using his head and winning or having great finishes.
He was good in F1,but lack of opportunities
Congrats Takuma Sato! 🥛🎉🎉🎉
Crazy that he beat Dixon too
Yes!!!
I thought Dixon was going to win as well...but the session didn't go to a red flag, but good job Sato
Sato drove a very solid race.
@@Diecastbuffet who's your favorite driver in INDYCAR?
Congratulations Taku!! おめでとう!!
Congratulations Sato for winning the biggest indy car race of the year Indianapolis 500
Takuma has probably the biggest Japanese balls. This is what racing is: Brave pilots risking their lives to get glory. No time to wining on unfair blocks.
Congratulations Takuma Sato! Great to see a Good Guy finally wins the Indy500! ♥️🌷🕯
this was he's second time😊
Congrats to my favorite driver Takuma Sato on winning the Indy 500 and holding off Dixon.
Congrats to Sato. Rossi got screwed.
Now I know why Indy 500 is so good
That speed just incredible
Pato O’Ward is the best finishing rookie
And in the same kind of car as Alonso.

Fantastic win..
True champion.
🏁佐藤琢磨優勝おめでとうございます🇯🇵
Indianapolis might be Sato's favourite track. Remember his only podium finish in F1 back in 2004 with BAR and now he is a two time winner at the Indy 500
Oddly he said that he likes hungaroring, "something in the flow of the cornes".... :D To me,seems likes he's fast everytime the circuit is a real FAST circuit. On street circuit wherever there is a a track with good hard braking, he's there... (Gilles Villeneuve,Nurburgring,Monza...). Let apart suzuka where probably he know every inch of the track.
SUPER SATO!!!!!

8:19 That looked just like Swede Savage's tragic crash of '73, luckily this one was much more tame and "livable"
Yes. Glad some people remember; and/or like me have seen clips of Swede Savage's tragic fiery crash.
The exact same thing I thought....I think it was at the same place in the track too
Let us not forget that Savage survived the wreck and was recovering in hospital before an infection claimed his life...
Just saying...
Probably the worst Indy crash I've ever witnessed!
Fun fact: Rossi’s number is #27. And at the end of the Indy 500, Rossi’s position was 27th.
So entertaining watching Dixon and Sato
Missed the race but I think I just like watching the highlights now!
GO SATO !!!!!
For the people wondering why it finishes under yellow, that wall would’ve taken at least one hour to fix so it was better to finish under yellow instead of finishing 2 hours later, I’m not surprised by the decision
Agree!
It was TV time
It should be able to get fixed in ten minutes.
@@servantofthemosthigh7443 You are talking like all GWCs end with crashes which makes no sense since majority of them end without any issues. Especially the ones that happen on tracks outside of Daytona and Talladega
It would’ve taken more then 20 minutes to fix, I was at a race when they hit the barrels at out entry, much less damage to the barrels but it took 30-40 minutes to finish. This tire wall would’ve taken much longer because of how damaged it was. Indycar also is very pure with “if its the Indy 500 it 500 miles, no less no more” they aren’t going to engineer a finish
Anyone else noticing just how important fans are?
If masks worked, fans could have filled the stands - and fill baseball stadiums, hockey arenas, etc.
Some people can't comprehend this...
@@copelandtenn wouldn't want to catch a cold

OMEDETO GOZAIMASU TAKO-SAN!!!!
Coming back to this in 2024 and hearing Palou referred to as "the rookie" is so very strange now. He's been the center of Indycar attention for so long now that it seems like he's always been there.

Not digging the new pvc pipe microphones they’re using
brettwrb - This was an online only thing because they did not sound like that on the NBC broadcast. I''m not sure what they did for the internet clips, but the audio quality between the two were vastly different.
It’s the sensational Takuma Sato!
Congratulations to Takuma Sato for his 2nd Indy 500 win but I’m wishing a speedy recovery to Spencer Pigot. I’m glad that INDYCAR has the windscreen because it saved Spencer Pigot’s life, if that windscreen wasn’t there, who knows the outcome would’ve been with Spencer Pigot.
Eric Marchesini Power, Veekay, Ericsson and Pigot are happy that the aero screen was used this year
CyDaFox is egg and Askew too
Why do you keep saying his full name
GP2 engine won
Alonso: Karma! .. oh wait
What an a amazing race, best one this year
When i saw Askew hit the wall Live on TV as hard as he did, i curled up in a ball and yelled out in suprise and shock...But its a good thing he is ok, that was a Heavy Hit!
Looks like Alonso is Sato's lucky charm. Congrats, Takuma.
I wish Dixon had won. But congrats to Sato.
@Leopold yeah, I did't watch the last 1/3rd of the race closely, bc I was cooking, but to me it seemed as though Dixon wanted to trade the lead w/ Sato (for fuel mileage), or expected him to run out of fuel in the last laps. Was this the case to you?
Props to the diff for another great call in the com box. Well done Taku, it takes more than luck to win this race.
8:15 that crash scared me. Glad he was ok.
some of those crashes were gnarly ... safety nowadays is insane
Patricio is going to be a future Dixon!
Rossi never disappoints. Always entertaining to watch. They should have showed Ferruci's moves. That kid made some really crazy moves too. Entertaining race but dud ending.
I’d not pour the milk on myself. Take a sip and put it down.
Congratulations Sato! You did a great job all day.
I love when they turn left!!!!
Great race
Those Aeroscreen looks horrible, but if you look at the cars as a whole with the Aeroscreen, WHAT A BEAUTY! These Indycars looks awesome!
It’s not unusual for the race to end under yellow so I don’t know why you guys say Dixon and Rahal got robbed.
Even this recap gets my blood pumping. (didn't see it live)
Honda was kicking some Chevrolet asses in this race.
Was really pulling for Andretti. . .
Huge Ryan Hunter-Reay fan. Great race but boy did his pit crew let him down. Unless there is something that I dont know about, those stops really screwed him. By my count lost 11+ spots because of pit stop times...
Why in the world was the pass where Sato passed Dixon cut out of these highlights? That's the pass that wound up winning Sato the race.
“No attack, no chance”
Cars look and sound great this year Indy. A lot less go-cart looking. Wide is beautiful .Lose the windshield though
This race should be named, Chevy vs Honda
This is one thing I think Nascar gets right. We need to see GWC's in races like these.
17 min highlight video of Indy 500. Start, crash, restart, crash, restart, crash, restart, pass, crash restart, crash restart, pass, crash finish under yellow.
those tires placed in front of the cement walls did a whole lotta good. hope they fix that before the nascar race next week. he's lucky he's alive.
I mean, NASCAR was at IMS already in July and the revised schedule says they are headed to Daytona this weekend.
You know something the rest of us don't?
Anybody have any insight as to why there are so many fires after crashes?
was wondering this too
I'm wondering the same, most I've seen.

There were a lot of wrecks. But the wild thing made it happen.
Jeaanna🍀
the announcers not recognizing that staying driving with the car on fire is most times the safer option.. drive to a marshall stand or fire crew, they have the extinguishers.
uh.. except the fire crew was literally chasing the dude
@@failtolawl im sure stopping an indy car ,on 3 wheels, while on fire, the second you see the truck, is rather difficult. He clearly gets the car shut down incredibly fast once he saw the trucks. he was keeping it going before there on that emergency road. It happens fairly often in all forms of auto racing.staying moving until fire crews are right there means less burn time..
also he literally drives past the truck, immediately applies brakes.
Soooo, is it normal for the right side of the cars to catch on fire every time it hits the wall? Seems like a fuel or oil line is routed in a dangerous spot
Askew squared that wall up so hard his soul left skid marks on it.
Watching the race now and no one really taking Sato seriously lol
I feel really bad for Dixon. He pretty much had this race in the bag.

Only thing with the Airscreen is that you can no longer see the other drivers stop by to congratulate the winner anymore.
Asians are now the best drivers too, shattering stereotypes.
What a trip to see nobody watching in the stands
I’m shocked they didn’t red flag at the end
TV time. Had they been on NBC Sports I bet they would have. Oh well, we were robbed for sure
Not enough time to finish repairs + not enough laps to restart.
@@joshherman4214 Completely agree about the TV time impact. All ties in with the later start time.
NemaCat yeah those were the two exact reasons
If they stop on the backstretch of the 4-to-go lap and immediately opened the pits on the 3-to-go lap, there would still need to be a formation lap with 2 to go. That leaves just one lap of green available in the best case scenario. Throwing the red flag was never a real option.
I’m defintely not excited to see Alonso in F1 after his Indy efforts

Congrats to Sato but you guys should have red flagged at the end...
Had they red flagged the race they would have spent who knows how long fixing the pit-wall. They made the right choice for safety reasons.
I agree but since Pigot wrecked into the pit road tire barrier, they probably had to fix and repair that which would of taken a while. Would of been an absolutely amazing finish if they had red flagged it.
