    I did a 2 in level on my 18 F150 using this method and man am I glad I came across this video. The job went smooth with out any issue. Only part that took the most time was adjusting the LCA so the bolts fit back in. The ratchet straps are a must for that part. Once again thanks!

    All the leveling kits I've installed, I disconnect the upper ball joint, tie rod, and sway bar link. The spindle that's still connected by the lower ball joint will lean out towards you and plenty of room to work.

    The easier way to do this leveling kit is to just leave the lower control arm connected pry the whole shock/spring out and then hammer out the bolts from the bottom of the shock put the spacer on and then reattach the shock to the strut Tower line up your holes on the bottom of the shock to the lower control arm get one started then get the other started and let the nut pull the splines back in takes about 45 minutes a side.

    Great video. Another video shows this method and I like it better than taking the entire hub and rotor apart which is an over kill. But the other video didn't remove the outer tie rod end, which makes things a lot easier as in your video. I think U said u are marking the nut location of the FRONT lower control arm bolt nut so you can keep the alignment close to what it was in order to get it to a shop with minimal tire damage. Since I can't see the front bolt hole in this video, I'm assuming the bolt hole is slotted to allow for camber adjustments and u are marking where the nut is along the slot. It looks like in one quick glance, that the rear bolt, which happens to be slightly visible, is also slotted. Guess that also needs to be marked. Right? Yes I know it has to be realigned asap after doing this work.

    • @Itsjustacoyotee
      @Itsjustacoyotee  Год назад +5

      Yes the holes are slotted and I marked them to keep the alignment as close as possible because any time you put a Leveling kit in, regardless of the method you should get an alignment because the height throws everything off. By marking it yes it will keep the tire wear minimal and keep it handling decent especially if it takes a few days to get an alignment done

    Nice video.
    Would you think the bottom strut bolts changing angle from where the strut was rotated 180 degrees is the reason why you needed a ratchet strap to pull lower control arm inward?
    Getting ready to put a 2" leveling kit on and I really think dropping lower control arm is best way to go.

    • @daiweichen3913
      @daiweichen3913 Год назад +1

      When you put the spacers on it turns the strut 180 degrees, it looks like OP used the jack to push the bottom bolts in. The bolts are only at a 5 degree angle. Now the reason for the ratchet straps is likely to pull the lower control arms back into place. I actually ran into an issue when doing mine where I could not get the lower control arms back into place because the tension of the strut was too strong. Using a jack would just lift the entire truck. Either you can use the ratchet strap as in the video or have someone heavy stand on top of the suspension to lower the truck down to the control arms.

      @d-arts7139 Год назад

      I’m having the same problem installing mine. Friend is actually doing it. He says the bottom bolts don’t rotate inward. I thought we’d just swap struts left and right side. I have a 2015 f150 that I leveled a couple weeks ago 2.5 with 22” wheels on 33 tires and I knew some ride quality was going to be gone but when I hit a bump or rough spots in the highway it seems to throw my truck sideways one way or another kind of like it comes off the ground but definitely seems like I lose control of it while I’m hitting that rough spot in the highway I did all that at the same time so just asking what would be the problem haven’t had time to go back to the place that did the work but I never seen anybody else mentioned anything like this just trying to see where I or them go wrong thanks in advance your truck looks great

    • @Itsjustacoyotee
      @Itsjustacoyotee  2 года назад +1

      Definitely wouldn't hurt to get things checked over to make sure everything is good, but you'll lose a decent amount of ride quality with that set up. Bigger wheel and less tire will create more bounce since the tires will give less when hitting a bump, and having a 2.5in level stretches all the angles on your stock suspension which makes it ride stiffer as well. My guess is the bounce is coming more from the tires than anything. I run a lot of low pro setups like that and I usually have the same issue on many different vehicles where when I had a big enough bump the vehicle kinda bounces and shifts sideways a little. My f150 was more just the rear, and my superdutys the whole truck kinda did it. Also, depending on how many miles are on your truck, it is possible you could need new shocks.

      @c.breezy92 would be easier to still remove the tie rod.. and you'll have to remove the sway bar end link and unbolt the upper control arm to you can pull the lower part down as far as you can to give you the most room. The part that'll fight you the most is those studs in the bottom of the strut because of how long they are. Like I said I've done it this way and it takes WAY longer because you fight with it a lot more.. you take off way less things and it's way quicker to just remove the 2 lower control arm bolts.. if you mark them it's easy to line back up. You'll need an alignment either way so doesn't need to be perfect. Easiest to use 2 jacks to lift the lower control arm back up but can be done with just one.

    Could you explain marking the control arm bolts? I don't understand how marking the nut is significant? Don't you just retorque these when done?

    • @Itsjustacoyotee
      @Itsjustacoyotee  2 года назад

      To get the alignment back as close as possible, if you don't get it back where it was it will put the front end out of alignment. You still need to go get it aligned after installing the leveling kit but when we did it this way, we got it back where it was supposed to be and the alignment was very close.

    • @rideoutwest7885

      @@Itsjustacoyotee but isn't that bolt just through the LCA bushing? I'm not following how marking a nut does anything important to help alignment. Thanks for the help. Starting this next weekend! Any input is appreciated.

    • @Itsjustacoyotee
      @Itsjustacoyotee  2 года назад

      @@rideoutwest7885 it changes the camber of the wheel. Just mark it, you'll see what i mean once you loosen the bolts, everything can move. The bolt is tight in the control arm, but the holes on the bracket that's welded to the frame are slotted to be able to move the lower control arm in or out to adjust camber if i remember correctly. If you don't mark it and don't get it back in the same spot your wheel may lean in or out, and it will probably drive like crap. Like I said you still want to take it in for an alignment, but marking it keeps it close to where it needs to be.
