    I know all of the videos for installing a leveling kit identify the same general process, but, could this not be done by only disconnecting the sway bar link and dropping the lower control arm instead? I’m not a mechanic, but removing all those components seems like a lot of work and opportunity to mess up more components.

    • @PIPSBURGHVIEWS
      @PIPSBURGHVIEWS  3 года назад +2

      Other people have mentioned doing it that way but I have never tried it. Sometimes there is a lot of side to side pressure on the control arm bushings, making it harder to reinstall with the lower ball joint still attached.

    • @daddy_THS
      @daddy_THS 4 года назад

      I was told you can damage the IWE and the CV axle if you don't use a vacuum pump to disengage it. If you don't pull a vacuum (and cap/hold it during the entire process), it doesn't suck the actuator in and in turn it gets cracked/busted causing a vacuum leak and partial engagement leading to the grinding noise.

    • @PIPSBURGHVIEWS
      @PIPSBURGHVIEWS  4 года назад

      I have never tried that. The only time I see an issue is when people try to tighten the axle nut without it being fully seated. That will crack the IWE.

So by watching your video I now know that I made the right decision to just have the mechanic do it for me.
