I found it frustrating trying to pop out that module and was worried I would scratch or crack the dash. It was easier to just drill several vertical holes on each side of the module faceplate , then tilt drill to side to cut thru the clips. Didn’t scratch my dash at all . If you look at the module there’s a good size gap and you can safely remove the module this way.

Thanks for this. I took my F150 into my Ford Dealer, and they wanted $200 to put a 2nd, external module under my dash... What idiots! I bought this from another dealer for $63, and it look less than 5m to replace myself.... This is why people hate dealers...

I’m on sync 3 3.0, replaced the hub on my 16 xlt and it does not enable CarPlay at all. Not sure if it’s the 3.0 update, but this seems to no longer work.

It did! It was a piece of cake. I ordered the new USB off EB from a Ford dealer in CT. Popped the old one out very carefully and plugged the new one in and popped it back in. And it worked.
My 2016 f150 had nav and was updated by wifi to the 2.2 software . Went to ford and got the usb hub that i needed 68.00 dollars and went by a store that puts radios in cars they put it in for me in 5 min 20.00 bucks works perfect.

Just ordered the part for my 2016 Taurus. Looks easy enough so hopefully I will not have any issues installing it.

Great job sir but it is absolutely ridiculous that we have to do this. Especially since Ford has promised this update 2 or 3 times in the last year.
Did the new module take away your ambient lighting setting that allowed you to change the color of the ambient lighting?
Sarasota Ford has quoted me $489 to buy and install the Interface module. Ebay has the part for $48. Sounds like I know what direction to go.

question i install the version 2.2 the i try android auto with out changing the USB module and it worked. So why do you have to change the module.

A sync contact at ford told me Sync 2.0 was all I needed not 2.2. Hmmm. I have 2.0. Waiting for the USB port from the dealer.

Ford released this update for OTA updates last week so the USB sticks are no longer needed.
