If I order the F150 CarPlay module from Amazon, do I need to do something from the computer or if I install the module directly, will Apple CarPlay work?
Everything worked exactly as described. Overnighted the part from the internet store, Started the update - didn't concern myself with the activity on the screen as the update progressed, just waited until the completion notice. Swapped the module, plugged in - No CGI needed. 2016 F-150

AutoHeadz hey man it started to work. For some reason it will not work every time I use remote start, but works each time I start it with the key 🤷🏾♂️. Not a huge deal, but I’d say it has worked 80% of the time with remote start
You say to use an 8 GB drive but the one you use in this video is 3.7 GB. I haven’t done it yet but I’ll try with the 4 GB drive I have before buying an 8GB.
Hello! What should I do if I took the usb flash drive out before the installation screen popped up? My car is now at version 3.0, but I never got an installation complete message pop up before taking out my usb flash drive. Thanks for the video!
I had a very difficult time doing this. I ended up having to edit the auto install file by manipulating semi-colons to install one step at a time then also I had to simply leave the usb in the truck over a few days and out of nowhere the updates completed. I had to edit the auto install 4 times and install the updates in 4 different sections by adding and removing semi-colons. I also had to add [SYNCGen3.0_ALL] before each section to finally get it to install. If you notice below I am preparing to install the 3rd section as there are no semi-colons. The final stage will be to add semi-colons to the 3rd section (keeping semi-colons to 1st and 2nd sections as well) and remove the semi-colons to the 4th and last section. That might help some people out there who are tearing their hair out trying to do this while following the instructions from the Ford website to a T. I did the download on my 2016 expedition and sync did update to sync 3 V. 3.0. I updated the usb module and when I restart the car I get an era message saying that the USB module isn't compatible!! Has anyone else run into this problem?
Hello, it’s me again. The install works but there is a lot of delay in it nearly every function. For example, if I press maps or navigation it could take up to 30 seconds or even a minute or two for the CarPlay to respond. Sometimes it’s instantaneous but most of the time there’s huge delays. Any ideas?

I get all the way to the point of moving it over to my USB drive, but I don't see the 4th zipped file on it like yours shows, only the original things that you highlight and move over. I followed your directions to the exact format and do not see the compressed file moved over? I tried earlier to move it to my truck with the new installed USB port and it said bad file, so I have deleted, reformatted again, and going to try it again to see what happens.

Yes sir! You do this because you are updating sync 3 which is built into your vehicle. This allows the CarPlay module (link in description) to talk to sync 3 properly and allow carplay to be used.

To clarify you started with a radio that didn't have Carplay and by adding this, you then have Carplay, correct? Do you know if they have this for Dodge Ram?
So on the Ford owner website it’s now on version 3.02024 and it doesn’t provide the same files. The .zip file that comes in your 4 files on the flash drive doesn’t show anymore. My truck won’t update not sure why but it hasn’t worked yet any advice
Started updating and after 20 mins the POS states that it failed because it "ran out of space to update." The first time it updated stating I could remove the external drive, only to find out it updated to the same setup that was on the thing. I must have gotten a fraud piece from china in regards to the module, OR..... do I have to do this upgrade before installing the new module?

@@AutoHeadz after multiple times this POS truck of mine keeps failing to finish the upload stating that something has “run out of space.” I took the new module back out and replaced the old one in hopes that was the problem, borrowed a newer flash drive from my friend hoping that was the problem, and each time, the same thing.
Total cost 70$. Works perfectly. Apple constantly makes updates to Carplay so everything has always worked great. Just recently they did an update that lets you customize your background. This is my favorite upgrade on my truck without a doubt.

Hmmm. Usually when people have issues it’s either they missed a step or they didn’t start with a fresh flash drive. I would try again with a different/new flash drive.

I would try and see if it works. Technically if you see the new version you should be good to go.

Did it work with out the zipped folder? Mine is the same way. Only have the 3 folders.

Getting the module is the first step.
Secondly you need to get Sync 3 onto that new module and that requires a computer.
So do I need to download the updated software before I switch out the usb module?

I have sync 3.0 already on my 2016 f150 but my build # is different. If I get the new usb will that work?
As long as you are 100% sure you have sync 3 all you should need is the module.

Yes. You do. You have to have sync3 installed first as seen in the video with a completely new flash drive.
