Good video. I have a question, please. do you have any idea how to add the camera icon (to activate or desactivate the camera) in the sync home screen ? (at the top right next to home icon ). what is the line or lines of code to modify (with Forscan). THANKS
Hey I know this video is a little old but I have a question, in your video after the update I saw you did a master reset of the system, when you do this reset the system still keeps the update you just installed? It doesn’t revert back to the previous sync version before the upload via usb? Thanks for your time.
Thanks for the video. I want to try this, but I don't have the cable to link from my computer to sync. Can the updates for forscan be used on a jump drive to change the screen size?
Hi, your video helped my upgrade. Thank you. How ever I don’t have a volume indicator in my screen. Volume works but indicator is gone both knob and steering button. I did some research and found someone who fixed it but I don’t know how to do what they did. He daube did the following: consp wrote: ↑ You enabled Smart DSP which you apparently do not have. Set it to off. This option is the same for all versions (and Sync 2 as well I thought). In your case: set the first block of 7D0-01-01 to 086A, you enabled it by making the first byte 88 instead of 08. The DTC will also stop if you disable it as it no longer tries to detect the DSP and get the volume signals from it. The non working buttons: The configuration for both the buttons and steering wheel look correct. I do not know how the buttons on a mondeo are connected but if one of them works they should all work (depending of course on correctly configured software e.g. the dsp setting).
He’s talking about modifying the as-built data. If you go to the part of the video where I had to change the as-built data for the screen size. He gave you the line number and the data to write it to. I can’t say I’ve ran into that, but it makes sense and sounds correct.

Hello, I am needing some help. I have an 18 mustang with nav version 3.0. I followed all your steps but when I hit "start" and it's supposed to download to the USB drive (it's a USB 2.0 32GB) it does it in less than 5 seconds unlike your video and every other videos I've watched. My internet is NOT that fast. I plug in my car and all it does is reboots...i checked the memory on the USB and I still have 29GB or so which makes me think it is not being downloaded to my USB.
It should definitely take longer than that to download to the flash drive. If you don’t see anything else wrong with the packages you’ve selected to download maybe try deleting and reinstalling the cyan labs app.
It does have to be the licensed version to write as-built. I think they used to offer a free license that was good for a month or two for someone that just needs to change one or two things like yourself. Not sure if they still offer that or not, but even the paid versions are pretty reasonable.
I have a sync 3 that has no touch input everything shows on the screen as it should. I was told to reinstall the or upgrade software first before buying a new screen. Its a 17 Focus St. I have no way to get to current version number etc. Can I still try this by using any current version number and going to 3.4 ? I was going to choice the lowest to make sure nothing is missed
I normally do this without the vehicle running by turning the key to the on position and back to aux every once in a while so it doesn't completely turn off, and doesn't use much battery or any fuel.
We have a battery charger that you can set to hold what ever voltage you select. I use that fairly often and just set it to hold 13.5 volts while programming modules.
Great video, very easy to follow along! Looking to do this upgrade soon!! Quick question, do you know how to add the "Climate" button to the main screen? Since I see some Navigators have the climate button on the main screen and some do not, thank you!
@@sanursikdar4363 just a thought, but is the button on the main screen your looking for just one of the differences between the sync 3.4 systems and the older systems? What version of sync do you have?
@@CarShopTalk I'm not sure why my comments are not being posted, even after doing an upgrade to Sync 3.4 the Climate button does not display based off some of the videos I've seen. I currently have Sync 3 installed on my 2019 Navigator.
@@sanursikdar4363 I would probably try to find a vehicle that has the feature you’re looking for and then check what version of sync it has. I’d probably also get the VIN in case it turned out to be something configured in as-built files.
Just curios why the vehicle needs to be running? Battery life? My truck has 2 batteries and I am going to run my Snap-on Charger on Flash Mode which is made for doing this exact sort of thing So I was wondering if there was any other special reason to have it running
Nope, there’s no other reason. I do them fairly often with a Rotunda charger. I usually set it to hold the system to 13.5 volts. The only thing you have to be careful about is that the charger is hooked up so it goes through the vehicles amp probe. If not the vehicle will think the battery is getting to a low state of charge and shut down the sync system in the middle of programming.
Hello, thank you for the video! I’ve updated to 3.4 perfectly and was just attempting to resize the screen using Forscan w the OBDlinkEX and ran into an error saying “I need an extended license to run this function”. Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I’m looking into getting 2016 navigator. It’s year model with interior update including sync 3. Does that mean I can update this system , and use Android Auto?
Pretty sure the as-built code for the screen size would be different. You”d need a way to change the as-built file and Forscan would probably be the easiest.
