    I have owned a 2014 and have a 2016 f150 with 3.5 ecoboost. I definitely agree with oil separator for the first mod but second would FOR SURE have to be a tuner and an email tune (I went with livewire TS and unleashed for the tune). Third would be y-pipe, they actually have an amazing exhaust sound and lets a lot of heat out plus lots of flow (I went with afe off road lol). I find that none of the cat-backs sound decent plus there really isn't much of an improved flow compared to modifying further upstream. From what i have read getting a dry drop in performance filter and leaving the rest stock is just as good (as far as hp gains ) as the cold air kits.

But at the end of the day the 5.0l puts car lengths on it and just screams America. 3.5l vs 5.0l 2 out of 3 was too close to call a winner

    If any of these aftermarket performance car parts sellers ever stopped shilling Cold air intakes and stuck to practical stuff that actually adds performance they would easily become the go to spot for people who want to actually maker their car/truck faster. I thought offering an oil separator first was a good touch, as that will actually help preserve your engine, the cat back & intake tho aren't really going to give a lot of HP/TQ even when modded, catback maybe gives an extra 5hp. Cold air intake is almost snake oil sure it gives a louder sound, but its been proven over and over on many different cars that stock intakes are light years better then what was on early 90s-80s and prior cars, ford, chevy etc spend huge amounts of time and money into developing efficient intake systems on modern cars and are optimized to draw in the most amount of cold air right off of the front of the hood, put those things on a dyno and you will see no gain with an intake, tune for tune mod for mod.

    Getting ready to replace the wheels and tires on my 2018 F 150 5.0 SuperCrew. Do you know if I will have rubbing issues if I go with a 20" Fuel Avenger rim (20x10 with a -18 offset) using BFG TA KO2 285 55 R20 tires? I like the aggressive stance that would offer me, but I do not want to have rubbing issues when making turns. I guess the Fuel Avenger 20x9 (with a positive 1 offset) rims using BFG TA K02 275 55 R20 is my safest bet but will not look quite as rugged. Thanks for your help!

    I've been considering installing a AFE bladerunner intercooler on my 2015 3.5 do you guys recommend the one from the video more? How much of a difference in power will you get from a aftermarket intercooler?

    • @CJBroncoF150
      @CJBroncoF150  6 лет назад

      We installed a Mishimoto and AFE intercooler in our F150s and both fit and work great. We don't have any data to prove it one is better than the other though. Simply bolting it on will give you a minimal power increase, you need to do a tune as well to get the most out of it.

    • @markkoranjr6426
      @markkoranjr6426 3 года назад +1

      Yes and no. The port injector does help clean the intake valves but the catch can will help with catching all those blow by vapors keeping them out of the intake.

    The newer Ecoboost have direct injection AND port injection. The port injection cures the build up problem.

    • @CJBroncoF150
      @CJBroncoF150  6 лет назад

      There are oil vapors created inside the engine from the motor oil that blow through the PCV system, an oil separator catches these vapors preventing them from going back into the intake like it normally would. When changing your oil you can drain the catch cans into your waste bin with the rest of your used motor oil and discard the oil like you normally would.

    I recently purchased a new 2018 Raptor. I've currently got 4400 miles on it. I've been wanting to install a UPR and concerned about your comments in regards to carbon build-up, etc., thus leading to engine failure. To hear after 3-4K miles both catch cans were full is extremely concerning. Is there something I can have done in the process of installing the UPR to clean-up any carbon, etc. that has built up over the 4400 miles I've put on the Raptor? Do you also recommend adding the Separator as well or just the Catch-Can? Your Catch-Can looks to have 2 hoses on it whereby I've seen other UPR Catch-Cans that have 3 hoses. Does this 3rd hose eliminate the need for the Separator? Thanks!

    • @CJBroncoF150
      @CJBroncoF150  6 лет назад +1

      You dont need to be as worried since you have the 2018 which has direct and port injection, so your valves are getting a little cleaned off by the fuel injectors. After only 4,400 mile shouldn't have anything to worry about, but its still important to get an oil separator on as soon as you can. Some kits are different than others, some 2 cans with 2 hoses, and some have 1 can with 3 hoses, it all depends on the kit that you get.

    You said this ecoboost needs AOS otherwise it will have problem. That sounds to me ecoboost motor has major engine defect. Why dont you recommend us to get old V8 engine with it. I rather give up 2 -3 MPG for daily driving and reliability. Having V8 will give us better MPG when we tow. Also No need fancy muffler for better sound. No need to worry about Major engine design defect either. I'm not very convinced with ECO boost after watching your video. Great video clip btw. Thank for sharing information

    • @freddycjpp3660

      Any direct injection engine needs an oil separator, it's not just the ecoboost. If youd rather lose the MPGs, torque and power of going back to a V8 than spending a few bucks on the ecoboost to keep it healthy than that's your choice. Thanks for watching

    • @jbs2ki
      @jbs2ki 6 лет назад

      Freddy CJPP you are right but Spending over $35k and you need to add additional parts to keep engine healthy? That doesn't sounds right. I'm not saying your AOS approach is wrong. Over $35000 truck won't last healthy without upgrade parts on them. I think that's defect; ford should fix it not the customer!

    • @freddycjpp3660
      @freddycjpp3660 6 лет назад

      Ford did address the issue in the 2017 models, they made the engines with dual port injection so an oil separator is not that crucial on them. It does suck that the older models need aftermarket parts to stay healthy, but me the few extra dollars is well worth it.

    • @CJBroncoF150
      @CJBroncoF150  6 лет назад +9

      A quality exhaust is really going to help with any turbocharged vehicle, especially when properly tuned for it, way than it would for naturally aspirated vehicle. A larger and better flowing exhaust will reduce back pressure to help the turbos spool quicker and easier for more power, you pretty much want as little back pressure in a turbocharger exhaust system. You wont get near the same performance gain from a cold air intake as you would with an exhaust, but when you get the whole system free flowing and breathing good and then you tune for it, the truck will run fantastic.

    Freddy, I installed a catch can in my 2014 Ecoboost about 3000 miles ago and not a drop in it! You think I installed wrong or am just lucky there's nothing in it?

      SMO it's because you don't need one. These salesmen on RUclips just want your money.

      Which catch can did you install? Our 2016 catches a ton of fluid.

      If you do a little research you will find how important catch cans are for direct injection engines like the ecoboost.

      Freddy CJPP it's the UPR dual valve with clean side separator for a 2014 f150. Mounted it in front of the radiator.
      I'm not complaining about it and glad I have it. Just curious since I've seen so many people with catch can that are catching a bunch of gunk.
      My truck only has 19k miles. Does the low miles have anything to do with it?

      That's interesting, if you have absolutely no fluid built up in the can, it's possible you have the check valves going the wrong direction.
