Andre, these tuning companies do a great job. Thanks for another great video! I personally went with Livernois Motorsports for my 2016 F150 2.7 Ecoboost. At the time on the forums, the experts were saying Livernois. They have lifetime support and custom tuned my transmission for me to suit my wants and needs. The 2.7 is such a capable engine. I use the Michelin Premier LTX - the stickiest touring tires I could find and it still breaks them loose! The engine holds 20lbs of boost from about 2,000 RPM to the redline and it is fast! 0-60 is just over 5 seconds if I can get it to hook up! I have towed 7,000lbs with my 8.5 x 20 enclosed trailer plus people and cargo in the truck with a towing tune and it works fantastically. A custom tune really wakes these trucks up even though they are already good.
Had my Expedition tuned by 5 Star. Their customer service is excellent. I've had to call them once or twice and they're on it. Their tunes are very street able, and make excellent power.

Can you imagine getting someone lining up next to either of these trucks at a light thinking they will easily leave them in the dust? What a sleeper. I just wonder how much longer the drivetrains and driveline components can continue taking this much power.
Does the transmission shift faster when you are babying it? I just got an 18 2.7 with the 10 speed and I drive slow... I don't drive the truck like a car so I don't want car like "butter shifts" wearing out the clutches. I really want a tune just to firm up the shifts.
Three weeks ago I drove a 3.5 Ecoboost truck first and then a 5.0 truck. Honestly the 5.0 felt weak next to the Ecoboost because of all that torque down low. The 5.0 may last longer but hell I never keep anything longer than five years anyway. Needless to say I bought the Ecoboost truck.
The ecoboost is an impressive motor. But with the list of things done to that 3.5 to get that power you could get a 5.0 truck with a supercharger and tune on pump gas and be faster. The ecoboost is making that power on e85. Very hard to find in some states. Every state has 91 or 93.

@@joetool4016 so boost it a bit and make 800-900 with very little stress on the engine. ecoboost engines are cool and all, but the displacement limits the amount of power they can make reliably long term.
Everyone is always comparing the coyotes to these ecoboosts, yeah we alll get it, but to say that they are junk is not 100% accurate and probably based on your experience or a friends, but most likely when people complain about there truck on social media. There are MANY in the higher HP range at 100k mile or more but as i said youll see more complaints than praise. As for the sound of these.....well i can't argue that lol
It’s not complicated. Until you get comfortable spending $7k or more to supercharge a v8, the ecoboosts’ performance can’t be touched $ for $. They are good engines for sure, but it’s not like they are made of gold (technically that would be a terrible idea, but you get the metaphor). Tuneability is just the inherent advantage of a modern turbocharged engine. It’s simply amazing what you can get out of them for under $1k. But if money is no object for keyboard warriors then duh: the 5.0 or any other big displacement v8 can be made to shame these little ecoboosts. But I live in the real world, where I’m very thankful this is possible.
I agree. I have a 2012 3.5L that I tow a 7k trailer about 2x a month(I know not alot) and is sitting over 205k. Still runs and other than a quarter size rust on cab corner, still looks new inside and out. I have a 16gtpp mustang so I dont lean 1 way or the other.
They’re just different. It all depends on what you want to do with your truck. I’m planning on eventually getting a Coyote because I will be living in a very rural area and I will be doing all of the maintenance myself. I also love the sound and the overall power of V8s. My cousin’s getting an ecoboost. My dad will as well. I currently have a 99 with the 4.6, and I’m happy with it. However, I would eventually like to have a newer F-150 as well, specifically, one with a Coyote and a salvage title.
You have a great point, my dad’s f-250 (2006) 6.0 obviously; people hear that and screech and holler but I haven’t seen another one hit 470k miles and running😳 however it is deleted
This is definitely impressive. I'm loving the level detail these guys go to to get as much power out of these engines as possible. Only thing I wanna know now is where they got some of the accent pieces for the truck. Specifically that lower door trim with F150 embossed on it and who makes those wheels.

@@RyanH.Parker you know at the end of the day it’s all about the driving experience. Nothing sounds as good as a carbureted V8. No computers or electronics, just your right foot. @@gabrielback5615 it's not replacing the coyote. The 6.8L is going to be offered as a special one off model and possibly a crate engine. What that means? A possible Boss platform mustang returning, and an all motor V8 performance F150 in my books.
Awesome work! Incredible numbers! I know in the performance world one isn't supposed to be super worried about the life of the motor however I have to wonder what this does to the life of the motor. When I get my F150 (soon) I will be hitting up 5 Star for some good but I don't want that motor to die a very early death.
When discussing the 2wd truck with the 2.7, I find the comment "13.1" is possible stated by 5 Star very interesting. It makes me feel very good about my truck. I know that they have ran much faster 12.3 in a 2018 up 2.7 2wd Supercrew but it was on a Hoosier with OEM 16 inch light weight wheels so I am assuming that they are referring to a real practical street tire. 2018 up 2.7's have additional fuel injectors, 6 in port and 6 direct injection whereas 15-17 only have direct. The factory fueling capability of the 2018 has an ethanol advantage in stock form compared to the earlier trucks. I have a 2016 Ford F150 Supercrew 4x4 2.7 Ecoboost with 209,xxx miles. It has it's stock original turbos. It is 5 Star e50 tuned and the only fueling upgrade is a VMP boost a pump. It has a CVF catted downpipe, an entry level CVF intercooler, AMS turbo inlet tubes and a S&B intake. Again it has stock turbos. I have ran a dragy 13.1 IN 2WD with a horrible 2.07 60ft time and on a small 255/50R20 all season 560 treadwear tire on the street. No doubt that with a 4wd launch that I can drop all of those et's significantly. I am not currently interested in doing 4wd, it is my goal to run a 12.9 on an EVERYDAY street tire that gets mileage, is safe in bad weather and can handle gravel roads, in 2wd with stock turbos. I currently have the worthless e locker rear differential carrier and I can't lock it in as it stopped working but they weren't great even when working because they disengage at 20mph. So I am launching with an open carrier. I have a Ford Performance Mustang GT locker "requires mod"that I will install soon and hopefully I can get that 12.9 by cutting my 60ft. I am currently leaving at a very low rpm on negative boost. Theres 500 utube videos of 4x4 F150's doing sub 5 second and sub 4 second 0-60 mph times launching in 4wd. I to my knowledge have the only sub 5 second "4.89" 0-60 on the street in 2wd on a regular tire. On a side note,a high percentage of people who "upgrade" thier trucks spend money to increase the power output of the engine and then make counter productive choices when buying wheels and tires. That 3.5 truck has Vorsteiner 20's, a wise choice coming in at 29lbs per wheel. The 2.7 truck has Fuel wheels and a typical 20 inch Fuel weighs 50 and the typical 22 inch Fuel weighs 60lbs. My 20's weigh 29.5. I did alot of research on my tire choice as well and my tire weighs 30. So 59.5 lbs per corner. I bet that 2.7 is carrying a minimum of 90 lbs per corner, probably 100. Reciprocating weight is far worse on performance than sprung weight. Ferrari says 1 pound of additional wheel/tire weight is equal to 6 pounds of sprung weight. Lets just say that 2.7 has 30 more pounds per wheel than my truck. 30x6=180. 180x4=720. So its like he added 720lbs in weight to his truck by making poor choices. So when I add turbos to my truck it will roast that truck?
I have a low mileage stock 2019 Ford F150 with the eco-boost and I’m taking it to the dragstrip this Friday. I’m mostly there to have fun but will be shooting video with my GoPro‘s for my new RUclips channel. But I’m curious how much horsepower the stock drive train can handle. I know my old Duramax had a reputation for tearing up the front end if you launched in four-wheel-drive with much of a tune at all so I never tried it. I doubt this will get answered, but I wonder what modifications were made to the drivetrain of the truck in this video I will be getting the five star tune, and may be a few other mild modifications, and documenting them on my RUclips channel. But it will be my new one, not this one, called That Kilted Guy Creates
I mean lately ford has been doing a good job with transmissions. Even the mt 82 which my mustang has is good if you get a non defective one. For example my EcoBoost mustang is tuned and makes more horsepower than a stock gt of the same year. If I had a Subaru I would be in trouble because those transmissions are only designed for 300 horsepower where my mustang came with the same transmission as a 5.0. check out the forums but I'm pretty sure trucks would follow the same formula. Also I was going to tell you many of those transmissions that break like the ones in the dodges experience damage from a violent initial acceleration. I've heard that if you ease into it at the start and then gun it makes a huge difference. Lots of people I guess get these high horsepower builds and then floor it and dump it in all-wheel drive which is really hard on the gears. It's the same principle as towing someone with a strap or a chain. If I get a run with slack it's going to break my strap but if I get tension on it and then go at it I should be okay.
Yeah but you got a change/upgrade the turbos on the ford and if you did an exhaust and a tune and an intake and a smaller pulley on the TRX that’s like 800 wheel hp ish
It sure can 😉 However, what many consumers have been wanting back (specifically for the Raptor), was that old fashioned V8 grunt. RAM and the TRX specifically stepped up to those in the market, with its 6.2L supercharged V8. Sure, Ford’s off-road/baja-capable Raptor is quick from the factory, and can be tuned/modified to be even quicker. But overall, consumers wanted the sound of a pissed off V8 while doing what they’re rightfully-so, capable of. The TRX is exactly that, with surpassed capabilities. Not to mention the market to tune and upgrade engine components is already out there, being that it’s a “Hellcat” engine. Consumers will immediately be able to custom tune, increase/implement different fueling systems and octanes, swap pulleys, add larger injectors, superchargers, etc. (All of this is honestly just friendly input). We’re certainly living in exciting times! 🤘🏻 🇺🇸
@@jailman1 Generally speaking, not many at all. I could easily say the same thing about F-150’s and Raptors; everything from the engine block heater, front and rear seat mechanism/components, headlights, rearview mirror/camera, gear position indicator for the transmission, starter assembly, battery cables and electrical system, spare tire bead, lack of implemented roof rivets for structural integrity, the list goes on. Go ahead and look up the recalls. (Now what were you saying about spending half the time getting repaired?)
Especially if you come watch my RUclips channel where I pass on my 35 years of skills to everybody, LOL. Mostly I’m kidding and just couldn’t help but notice the drywall post.
Ford has knocked it out of the park the past few years mechanically. First with the ecoboost. Very very massed produced with a tiny percentage seeing catastrophic failure, even when tuned . I don't want to own either of these engines past 150k miles when things start to wear out, but I've got to say I'm impressed with the performance potential here. Never would have guessed it for the 2.7L.
I know people who have money and lots of horsepower with lots of problems. I also know people with lots of brains and understanding of mechanical parts also with a lot of horsepower and minimal problems. It takes good understanding/experience of limitation on what that drive train likes as far as rpm, shifting, temperatures, and so on. Professional race cars are built to take a beating with extreme horsepower but a Joe Schmoe who only knows how to stomp on the gas pedal will easily blow a race car up. Food for thought.

Can you imagine getting someone lining up next to either of these trucks at a light thinking they will easily leave them in the dust? What a sleeper. I just wonder how much longer the drivetrains and driveline components can continue taking this much power.
Thats honastly impressive for a 2.7l amazing what tuning and a few mods can do

That's very impressive, from those v6's. Crazy power numbers

How much does it cost to go from Ecoboost to Beast?

You have to keep in mind there is a lot lighter parts on the rotating and redirection parts. So screaming these engines don’t come close to blowing up as big iron does. But I have to say there is no replacement for displacement/carbureted Especially when it comes to sound and independent turning/repair.
@@RyanH.Parker you know at the end of the day it’s all about the driving experience. Nothing sounds as good as a carbureted V8. No computers or electronics, just your right foot. I know in the performance world one isn't supposed to be super worried about the life of the motor however I have to wonder what this does to the life of the motor. When I get my F150 (soon) I will be hitting up 5 Star for some good but I don't want that motor to die a very early death.
9:07 Gapplebees 😂😂
I doubt this will get answered, but I wonder what modifications were made to the drivetrain of the truck in this video
I will be getting the five star tune, and may be a few other mild modifications, and documenting them on my RUclips channel.
The Ram TRX boys ran for the hills. This can be done to Raptors.
They ran up the hill still waiting for the ford guys to catch up ...😜
Yeah but you got a change/upgrade the turbos on the ford and if you did an exhaust and a tune and an intake and a smaller pulley on the TRX that’s like 800 wheel hp ish

I was a GM guy my whole life. I owned nothing but GM products. I had a very sour experience with a Yukon Denali that changed all that. I traded it in after six months of ownership on a 2016 F-150 Platinum. I never thought I would like a Ford as much as I do. I am quite impressed with it and unless I have a major issue with it, I don't know of a reason why I would ever consider a GM product again.
American tuners rock love my 2.7L screw
Why there is 4 dislike allready? Why may someone get offended whith thid content?
Good video by the way tfl crew!
Chevy guys smh
It’s the V8 boys, they can’t handle it.
Does the 2.7 EB get worse mileage towing (VS the coyote 5.0) similar to the 3.5 EB? Ideally I'd like to get modest power improvement with the best towing mileage.
This channel has turned into an advertising arm for 5 star tuning. Just make videos like before, not 12 minute commercials.
I highly agree, hence my comment: “What’s the point?”
How long are the stock internals going to last on these motors? My stock 3.5 has plenty of power but it would be nice to have double power!
