Small trick I learned from working on lots of rusty nuts/bolts on a old jeep project... heat is your best friend.. LOTS of heat.. don't be afraid to make the old bolt glow.
Drilled/Slotted rotors and good pads. I have been 120 in the 1/8th and a short shut down and still got it stopped with stock rotors. 85 S10 Blazer, 3300 lbs.
Get a coil spring compressor, remove shock/put compressor inside coil/compress spring with an impact wrench and disassemble the whole front end, remove compressor after the spring is out and on the bench.
You can upgrade a stock caliper with a larger piston stock caliper. Good pads, and cross drilled rotors will help. I like ceramic bearings, or oil filled hubs for low friction. I'm a fan of the old school Centerline convo wheels 15x12 out back for sure, and skinnies up front.
Go with the ladder bar, that way you can use a 15x12 rc components torx with dual black eclipse cut bead lock with polished wheel. Black center with the eclipse cut with polished aluminum with the matching front runner
Leaf springs and caltrax for the rear and RC component Wheels drilled and slotted rotors up front and strange in the back it's going to be a bad ass truck
Budget upgrade front brakes, drilled/slotted and pads, 12” weld beadlocks, 9” aluminum center, 35 spline, gun drilled star patterned, 5/8 lug rear ladder bars, add front bars to the 10 point, and rear down bars
Second gen calipers, hubs, and rotors. Spindles will interchange. Second gen blazer has dual piston calipers. Has rear disc brakes. All that. But that's a easy upgrade for front brakes. Junkyard and some paint bud.
I moved my cab back and closed the gap between the cab and bed since a 10 point cage was installed to eliminate body flex. this also allowed the engine and trans to be moved as far back as possible Also the front tire location made the truck look better, stock tire location is too far rearward and looks goofy. just an idea since the truck has a poor engine location on frt spindle centerline. Not to mention your going turbo which has a lot of additional weight added to the nose.
Get front brakes for a 2000 or 99 GMC Jimmy 4 door 2 wheel drive they will fit right on your spindles they are larger calipers for better stopping power
That's what I ran on my 92. It was a street truck with the stock motor but I ran a 275 60 15 tire on her and it worked really nice. The tire stuck out about 1/2 " from the well but I didn't have any issues
Ok...powerstop rotors, pads, and calipers to save some 💰 and still have a decent brake system. Esp at this level. Use the powersteering if you are close to having it complete anyway. Imho i think bogart gt500 r/t's or d10 wheels. And while your at it throw a sbf in it!!! As far as ur content its pretty solid bro
I'd slap some drilled and slotted rotors, maybe some 2 piston calipers, and good pads. Simple and easier to get replacements. 15x10 classic Billet Specialties for the win
Personally think upgraded drilled and slotted rotors all the way around with a good set of pads would be good. RC component Hammer Eclipse wheels would look killer‼️ Also ladder bar set up in the rear would be better and cheaper for the truck rather running leaf spring setup.
If you want to lower it just go ahead and order lowering spindles that a way you can use your stock style steering and for front brakes just do slotted rotors and new pads
Hey John doc aerospace makes a kit for those and there cheaper than wheelwood or strange I would put those on it or go back new with factory it’s just a s10 you don’t need all that to go 490s
if your not worried about reusing the springs , before you unbolt anything take your torch to the spring and it will loose all springyness then unbolt your shit and it all falls to the ground
If it were me I would do the upgraded pads & Rotors with some fresh paint on the calibers and splurge on some sweet Viking Shocks for the Rear im not a big race wheel fan but that joint would be fire with some bronze Te's with a triple R8 Tires on them but thats just my opinion with it being lowered and some Sick wheels and sticky tires Not only will it have the power plant but will also look good to like all around but its all on what the build ur going for is it race truck only or would it be a sweet pro street truck for cruisen....
2” drop spindles and aftermarket brakes for the front, and ladder bars for the rear! If you are wanting to run high 4’s with this thing don’t skimp on the important stuff.
upgrade ebc if possible front rotors and pads and little shop rear disc conversion if available with drilled and slotted basic upgraded oversized master
@johndoc Weld v series wheels black and machine or the billet specialties black and machine. The brakes you could do like the cts v Brembro and drilled/slotted for a decent price and it would be a cool video for a budget nice swap.
Either just do ebc drilled & slotted roters, their race pads and maybe new factory calipers, or see if a set of duel piston calipers and the roters off like a Camaro or something will bolt up without any mods.
Drilled/Slotted Rotors & Good Pads Up Front. Billet Specialties Wheels
Yup. Order from R1 concepts. My rotors from them have been awesome for 10 years.
Small trick I learned from working on lots of rusty nuts/bolts on a old jeep project... heat is your best friend.. LOTS of heat.. don't be afraid to make the old bolt glow.
Is those S10s like the gbodies and can use the 99 blazer 2wd spindle and brake setup? If so would be a good cheap upgrade
So many choices with s10s for front brakes! My favorite is 5th gen camaro brembo swap!
Air hammer and floor Jack under the lower control arm will be your best friend with springs. Trucks gonna be bad ass someone’s going to get lucky.
Drilled/Slotted rotors and good pads. I have been 120 in the 1/8th and a short shut down and still got it stopped with stock rotors. 85 S10 Blazer, 3300 lbs.
Ladder bar ftw
Aerospace brake kit
Get a coil spring compressor, remove shock/put compressor inside coil/compress spring with an impact wrench and disassemble the whole front end, remove compressor after the spring is out and on the bench.
Carbon rotors and gold wilwood calipers HELL YEA. Appreciate it.
Wild wood brakes weld wheels ladder bars love the qa1 shocks
Upgrade brakes to complement power with ladder bars and bogarts 15x12
More work..👊🏾😎
Go with the ladder bar, that way you can use a 15x12 rc components torx with dual black eclipse cut bead lock with polished wheel. Black center with the eclipse cut with polished aluminum with the matching front runner
Love the content on the s10
Leaf springs and caltrax for the rear and RC component Wheels drilled and slotted rotors up front and strange in the back it's going to be a bad ass truck
Fun build! Leaf spring, whatever brakes match the rears and manual rack!
Budget upgrade front brakes, drilled/slotted and pads, 12” weld beadlocks, 9” aluminum center, 35 spline, gun drilled star patterned, 5/8 lug rear ladder bars, add front bars to the 10 point, and rear down bars

PowerStop hi/po brake kit from Rock auto 250.00 for both sides drilled rotors coated - coated calipers - carbon brakes.
15x10 with 5.5 inch backspace fits the rear with stock frame / suspension. Its tight but it fits...
That's what I ran on my 92. It was a street truck with the stock motor but I ran a 275 60 15 tire on her and it worked really nice. The tire stuck out about 1/2 " from the well but I didn't have any issues
I absolutely love the weld Magnum black or gold rims
GM used two different spline counts 13/16 36 spline and 3/4 30. I ran into the same issues I think I got mine from flaming river.
If your trying to build a 4 second truck it needs some upgraded brakes... Some Strange brakes would be nice.
With ladder bar you still have to do frame work because the leaf springs don't sit outside the frame so the frame is where space issue come in..
Definitely go with some wilwood brakes on the s10.
Aftermarket aftermarket rotor and spindle
Slotted rotor and dualast gold pad ftw💯💪🇺🇲 trucks light and has a shot
Like the time-lapse
Definitely change the rear suspension. Keep the vlogs coming 👍👍
I run Malibu spindle and a 3 inch lowering spring otf of mine with the qua1 db adjustable run 490s
Whats different about s10 and malibu spindles
4.90s with stock brakes ?
Could always look into the blazer brake swap bolt on and upgrades the calipers and hub design
Use 2000 and newer blazer spindles, hubs, and brakes, that gets you bolt on hubs, floating rotors an 2 piston aluminum calipers.
For wheels some old school weld drag stars or whatever they were called. Nice chrome 5 star wheel
Don’t g body front suspension inner change with the s10?
Possibly aerospace brakes.?
Slotted roters and upgrade the pads. Leave something for the wi ner to do later if they like too.
Drilled and slotted factory rotors with good pads. Definitely Bogarts!!
Throw a new pad in it and let it ride!!! Hold on with ya strong hand, she's gonna boogy boys 🏇💨
50 Chance just gets better everyday. I can't wait for the giveaway to start
Great workshop
I have stock front with no back stops fine at 5.40 but I wood like put on some drilled and slotted rotor
WOW?
Wilwood for sure
do strange breaks in the front w like the soft or medium pad, also for wheels run some weld v series
I think it was a win you doing all the work on it honestly! Nice job John
Ladder bar and 12in rc comp wheel
U do a great job mixing it up with the videos I wouldn’t change anything
Love the QA 1 stuff. I have a 93 x cab getting ready to start on. Think that’s the way I’m goin also
I'd slap some drilled and slotted rotors, maybe some 2 piston calipers, and good pads. Simple and easier to get replacements. 15x10 classic Billet Specialties for the win
EBC slotted and drilled with EBC pads work great Stapleton has the same EBC brakes on his 2000 hp excalade they stop that 5000 lbs bohemouth
S-10 has only a 10" rotor and a single piston tho
Gotta upgrade calipers and rotors and pads man going fast gotta be safe !! Do some nice street willwoods none of those single thin race rotors,
the s10s have a problem with bumpsteer, which is why insay saw to rack and fix that issue. need the front to have all the extion
Personally think upgraded drilled and slotted rotors all the way around with a good set of pads would be good. RC component Hammer Eclipse wheels would look killer‼️ Also ladder bar set up in the rear would be better and cheaper for the truck rather running leaf spring setup.
TBM brakes?
If you want to lower it just go ahead and order lowering spindles that a way you can use your stock style steering and for front brakes just do slotted rotors and new pads
slotted rotors, and carbon pads. Try POWER STOP see what they have. Billet Spec. or Weld either look good.
Manual rack to get rid of that big steering box makes more room. Just keep doing what you do!!
floor jack under lower control arm. then let the pressure off with that.
Powerstop rotor and calibers setup is all you need for that setup
I'm saving for rc "torks" but also love bogarts
Really like the step by steps on the build.
Factory steering and bogart wheels gold
I vote RC components for the wheels 15x12
Any rc comp wheels. Kiezers are badass too and different
Hey John doc aerospace makes a kit for those and there cheaper than wheelwood or strange I would put those on it or go back new with factory it’s just a s10 you don’t need all that to go 490s
Great job on the time lap. Got my thumbs up.
Jon, use the torch on the springs, and torch the top of the shock
Some weld s71 wheels! Upgraded pads and rotors up front
Gonna be a baller s10 🔥🌶🌶
Rockauto has Slotted/drilled brake it $150 with calipers ! Aloha 😊🤙🤙🤙
if your not worried about reusing the springs , before you unbolt anything take your torch to the spring and it will loose all springyness then unbolt your shit and it all falls to the ground
Leaf spring,cal-tracs and gap brackets from MAK
I love the bogart's. Your awesome John. I hope to be on your level one day.
Cut spring on the other side when you get to that side.,not using it anyway.. would like to see move work being done.
I like your videos the way they are. I been here for a few years now and not going anywhere now.
Just like all your other give aways I really wanna win this one !!!!!! Keep up the good work
If it were me I would do the upgraded pads & Rotors with some fresh paint on the calibers and splurge on some sweet Viking Shocks for the Rear im not a big race wheel fan but that joint would be fire with some bronze Te's with a triple R8 Tires on them but thats just my opinion with it being lowered and some Sick wheels and sticky tires Not only will it have the power plant but will also look good to like all around but its all on what the build ur going for is it race truck only or would it be a sweet pro street truck for cruisen....
you can put a 3 inch drop on the front with out interfering with the frame. I could of done a 4 inch and been ok
Larger 99-2000 blazer/Jimmy 2wd 4 door calipers and pads for the win.
If strange makes a kit run that with some sick rc comp wheels
I believe the Chevy blazer brakes are an upgrade from stock s10 ones
Go old school with a set of weld draglights.. it would fit that older truck perfect
After market lite break kit for sure. S10 breaks suck and most have braided steel brake lines...
Strange Pro brakes or Areospace
2” drop spindles and aftermarket brakes for the front, and ladder bars for the rear! If you are wanting to run high 4’s with this thing don’t skimp on the important stuff.
Dont be freaked by new springs, use a pole Jack and crank it up compress springs put nuts on ball joints
Street stock oval cars use an aluminum caliper that's same as stock for the gbody /s1
The hell with a ladder bar, keep it leaf spring. It will have no problems plantin the tire with Calverts on it.
Strange brakes and weld s71 would be sweet
Gonna order this set up for my 98 s10 I’m building 👍
Love the channel wish I could afford a turbo for my build
Nice shocks!!!
upgrade ebc if possible front rotors and pads and little shop rear disc conversion if available with drilled and slotted basic upgraded oversized master
You can buy kit that will allow you to upgrade to c-5 corvette brakes
@johndoc Weld v series wheels black and machine or the billet specialties black and machine. The brakes you could do like the cts v Brembro and drilled/slotted for a decent price and it would be a cool video for a budget nice swap.
No time lapse I like the information you give while working normal speed
steering box might be a 13/16x36
Either just do ebc drilled & slotted roters, their race pads and maybe new factory calipers, or see if a set of duel piston calipers and the roters off like a Camaro or something will bolt up without any mods.
