I see on the ride hight u explain why it’s important to do the front suspension that way is because u gain control under acceleration/ with stock spindles and 1 inch higher upper ball joints where as with drop spindles as u get faster and it begins to transfer more even pulls it front wheels at launching u loose 2 ta 3 inch of stirring con-troll (AT STATIC RIDE HIGHT) !!!!+ EVEN MORE AS IT PULLS UP HIGHER PAST STATIC !!!(where as u guys gain control) is and keep the hammer down !!! I hope I have explained that I get it what u explain on importance this set up???

Difference in performance between water burnout and PYOP? Different types of TC and what you prefer? I know you and your boys use Stripper Glitter but what are some of the differences between other brands? How about proper way of using it correctly? Stock spindle, tall tire , light spring. Got it boss. Whenever I tried to explain this to so called car people they scoff because they want the nice low street look but don’t realise they are reducing the amount of energy that’s gonna get captured and when you are launching a car with 1000 plus horse power this information is crucial.

  • @biscuitboy3617
    @biscuitboy3617 3 года назад +1

Obviously, the S10 has more than enough power to ride the rear wheels for quite a ways down the track!! so your suspension is working great in your application, and that's what matters.
I agree with the Viking shocks, they are outstanding.
Little back story...me and a friend been testing with his MOPAR...in this case, a Dodge Dart.
It has a big block all motor that *only* makes around 750 horsepower or so.
It has Cal Tracs and mono-leafs. With the Calvert adjustable shocks, it would extend all the suspension front and rear on launch, just enough to get a half-way decent 60 ft. time, then it would "relax" too soon and start spinning. Many trips to the test & tune sessions trying all kinds of different settings, and it just would'nt improve any more that what we already had.
So we tried some Viking's double adjustable shocks, and BAM!! this thing cut another 1.2 tenth's off the 60 ft. times!! It was pulling the front wheels off the ground considerably more.
But the funky stock angles of the shocks (car is all stock type suspension) seemed to be holding it back some.
So we fabbed up a new shock mount on top and stood the shocks straight up, and OH MY GOD what HUGE difference that made!
The car will nearly stand on the rear bumper now, and it's only a foot brake....has no trans brake at all.

I have been following your channel for a very long time now. I have admired what you are and have been able to accomplish. You are a very humble, hard working man of which not many exist today. Hence, why people always want to know what you have done and what part is where, how come this and why not that. They do not desire great knowledge , as they say, from someone as yourself. They want to skirt the learning and mastery process. Knowledge is useless unless you can be the master of its implementation. Exactly why there are soooo many racers mired in mediocrity., and blaming it on not having enough money to do what they think they need to do. It is never the money that will afford the opportunity for high level achievement. It is what is in your heart and soul and your willingness to master all within your capabilities. Even with everything you gave in this presentation as well as the previous ones, they do not have your specific knowledge, experience, nor your boys style and implementation of piloting the vehicle. Which means is is mostly useless to them, unless they take the information and work the same as you to have mastery over it. I see you as a brilliant man. No level of formal education makes you smart. The total mastery of the knowledge you possess and mastery over its implementation afford you and your sons the opportunity to experience your level of success and future successes. That is real GENIUS. Keep up the work you are doing. I wish you all of the success and achievements you can reach. Can't wait to hear you speak again!!

You would hear the other teams say they got vortech heads, that cam has a thump that is not stock etc etc. The cam was stock lift rule and the heads were era correct. The car was so much faster through the turns from chassis set up. Horsepower wasn't the secret. Oh and I camber the 10 bolt rear-end 😅

For the rear trz anti roll bar “ no more g body shuffle”, adjustable uppers, boxed lowers and a bit or reinforcement on the control arm mounting points or torque box and the g body will hook on ice. Cage, x brace and boxed frame wil make the landing more pleasant and keep you from ripping the car appart.

You are a good teacher and communicator don't knock yourself short. You're helping and educating a lot of people.
I do have a question. Not trying to be argumentative you have forgotten more than I will ever know. You were talking about front suspension travel and if I understood right are wanting to make sure you have or keep quite a bit of it. I have seen people chain down their front suspension trying to reduce as much travel as possible so that they would Wheely less at the start. That concept seems to be opposite of what you are trying to achieving. I'm probably completely missing something. If I'm too lost for you to be able to answer I'm not offended.

I like stiff shocks up front and soft in the back. For me it seems to help get frontend to lift up and ass to squat and stay stable as long as I'm in it. Plus the 200 lbs in my caprice truck only helps weight transfer

Squat isn’t good. You want it to separate in the rear pushing the tire into the ground. Squat is just killing your 60’ and preventing you from hitting the tire hard.

You are no longer the Ole Man. All hail the SRC Garage God!!! Thank you Bill. You are a great man for teaching us less knowledgeable race car fans more than a thing or two about this sport. God bless you !

Billy should really use a rust converter on the underside of his S-10. Or a mixture of bar & chain oil mixed 50/50 with diesel fuel. From what I just saw, the structure bars under the bed seem to have a bit of rust so, either a simple rust converter from Eastwood or whatever... I greatly appreciate you guys simply for being from Ohio as I am! My brother had a 79 Z-28 w/ 1973 4.125 bore sb 400 bored .030 over to a stroker 406. Th400, 373 gears, Holley 750 double pumper w/manual secondaries & a 78 Trans-AM with a worked up 455 H.D. All the things I wanted to do, He never did!

You sir are a very smart man and very knowledgeable about racing making shit go fast. But you are wrong about the drop spindles. Maybe if we ever meet in person we can try to come to agreement, but after 30 years of custom Suspension working and setting up cars, the starting point has no bearing ✌️

Mine is an 83 s10 you've got all my respect for making those trucks work like they do on stock stuff im running a split leaf mono leaf spring and it works great but I dont know that it works better than yalls

I swear I have been on the other side of the lowering spindle argument. Seeing the truck at full extension, the light bulb went off. Thank you for all you share! I was one asking for this content, and it's very much appreciated. I hope you continue with it, and tire explanation! You and your family are amazing!

I caught so much flack from Lucore Auto in the comments section of his vidoe for saying what your saying about the ugly hack job on the control arms. If he would have taken his time and done it right. Even Melvin Fredrick laughed at those. I remember you asking him "are you proud of that".🤣🤣🤦🏻‍♂️

Rewatching through your and src’s old vids. Don’t know if you will ever see this question…
Do you think the same concepts would work on a OBS Silverado?
    Thanks if you see it

Mr. Bill, our s10 is back halved with a ladder bar setup. It works pretty good. We have been 1.2 - 60’ on no prep. But we have no X brace. Would it be worth adding one to the truck? Any info appreciated. Also, I’ll be hacking our front bump stops tomorrow lol. Cool trick. Love the content, I came back to rewatch this to try and get faster.💪💯

This was super awesome to watch! Its not like ill be giving you any kind of competition at all literally ever with a truck like yours. So my dad and i built a stroker for my s10 probably close to 8 years ago now, 9” rear 3:90 gears and for years its just been something to toy around with a few times a year cause its just real squirrely. Hes told me for years we gotta back half it but thats so pricey for just a toy that i dont plan on racing with.
Its awesome to see that someone can keep something as wild as your truck stuck to the ground without going and breaking the bank for a back half kit and 18” wide tires and all that crazy shit!!
Looks like the caltraks and the shocks should really let me enjoy my truck a hell of a lot more without worrying about loosing traction playing around!!!
Thanks for the video! MUCH APPRECIATED!!

Thanks for the great info! But a question if you or anyone has time, will this all be the same on a later model S10? I'm completely new, never raced, never swapped an engine, and only once helped open an engine but that was years ago. I'm basically starting with little knowledge, and a stock truck. I'm doing research... But I have ADHD so all this is hard to grasp.
I have a 99 Xtreme body S10. Stock everything right now. I'd like to have a procharged 6 Liter in it. Or a screw blown 427. XD
I just need to know where to start if I ever hope to call out billy and his S10 to the track someday. 😅

Appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I have s10 race truck goals, so this type of video is awesome. Saw you guys in WV last week at Southside Dragway. Every car you brought hooked up and went straight down the track. You obviously got this suspension thing figured out. Thanks again.

Sorry, do you run billiet body mounts or poly or rubber? Why not box the frame instead of adding the X brace? Stock rubber bushings on the front control arms? Manual steering box vs quick ratio pwr box? Which would recover quicker? When does it become an advantage to have adjustable shocks vs "standard" 90/10-50/50 Competition Engineering shocks?

Hey I know this is probably a dumb question. And I don't really ask dumb questions, but I know you guys are pretty die hard Chevy people. But... anyway I want to build a dodge dakota early 90s late 80s. But I know that S10 and Dakotas have quite similar weight and are overall similar, but would most of this stuff, parts, and tips you have explained very well might I add work on a Dakota and maybe work well because, I know each truck, each car is different and that's probably a dumb question but I was just wondering if most of the parts, tips and everything thing said would mostly work on a Dakota.

Looking at your NEW WHEELS.... i was reading about BL yesterday, i specifically read on MT’s website that single BL’s are NOT a good idea. The thinking is that its holding the tire differently on both sidesis (even to me thats no genius!) and is really not a way to go about. With that said, why did you guys go with SINGLES?? Especially since you mentionned the Kid can prolly afford to do whatever ge wants on the truck now. Hopefully youll have a minute to anwser this.... Id really appreciate your input. Love the Channel!!!!
