I got a junkyard 5.3 Iron block took it apart gapped the rings and tossed the pistons back in using the same bearings since they looked great bought a new cam that worked good with boost new lifters ported the heads checked the heads and deck to make sure no warpage used ARP stud kit and Felpro MLS head gaskets and it works great the highest boost was 22lbs with no issues

Bought stock gm first then went to ktech still loose then bought nylon guide for chain took up some slack but still Wasn't comfortable with it. Ended up buying melling precision gears for it. 9゚ swing either way and finally got a tight chain. $400 later didn't return any the other stuff.. They just run loose!! Love the videos keep up the good work fellassss

Would it be possible to make 1000 H.P. on pump gas out of a junkyard LS was wanting to use a cast iron 5.3L truck engine. If necessary could see doing a 383 stroker build (if cost isn't prohibitive). Unless other mods are financially more feasible.

Why is the intake fly cut flipped ? Is it to support better combustion flow? Because I’m not quite sure the valves would hit the bottom of the piston without hitting the top first
Question...if I wanted to run an LS in a 2nd gen Camaro with a single turbo would you recommend running the Holley Sniper EFI kit? Also, when doing the valve adjustment on an LS can you do the whole set to zero lash and then 3/4 of a turn method? Seen that done quite a bit for engine builds.
Don’t give the truck away it’s the perfect parts truck and do anything vehicle. If you wanna drive something that you don’t necessarily care about that much if it breaks, the truck is the best option for that!!!
Do you think that I would need to upgrade the rods and pistons if I wanted to build a ~900HP or so junkyard 5.3L LS with a S475 turbo and camshaft upgrade? I just didn't know if the stock rods and pistons would be strong enough to handle the stresses? I capped it at ~900HP so that I should not need a built transmission and could get by with a Stage 5 ATS 545RFE, or built axles.

Is that 5.3 a pre 2002? If so it would have came with the composite gaskets and the cylinder heads will have the notches that won't seal with MLS gaskets. Lmao I just figured that out the hard way on my latest gen 3 turd.

The motor was built when I bought the car. I'm just wondering how come it's not a good idea to put that combination together? Is it a bad seal? I've got 243 heads on a 5.3 and I'm about 99.9% sure it is a gen 3 5.3. It has a tick polluter V2 stage 3 cam
I'm just asking because I honestly do not know. I've had nothing but Mustangs with 351 Windsor swap and mainly Fox body cars and a few sn95 cars. So I'm definitely in the learning process whenever it comes to LS style engines on what is good and what is not and what will work and what will not. I know my engine has ARP head bolts. So that's got to be pretty decent. It has a 102 fast intake ,102 Nick Williams throttle body and 80lb Deka injectors. It is a iron block. I'm trying to figure out what size turbo to go with. Because once I get my house done, I am going to start buying a few parts here and there until I've got my turbo kit completed. But I really plain on finding a 6.0 and dropping it off at tkm to get it Top Fuel hooped

I respect these guys because they do have a lot of experience with ls but god damn when I see a shop with parts and tools everyhere,it drives me crazy. If our shop was like that I would stop everyone and make them clean. I can't stand to rebuild a transmission or a diff when there is no order. Even myself I get messy sometimes so I take 5 minutes to clean everything

You gotta try a summit rod/piston combo and run it to 1000hp

Motor 200, cam 450, pushrods, 100, springs 300. Gasket kit and your done
