It's a great time to be buying junk yard motors.........so many little things (other than engine problems) that mechanics can not fix on a vehicle sends them to the junk yard pretty quick. My yard is full of them also.
Hey , travis . Youcan get a 4.8 invthe half ton's. I have a 02 with a 4.8 and its been a great motor. Over 300k and still running strong. Great junk yard video. 😊
The 4.8 is great in a stock vehicle, I just don’t recommend people go through all the work of swapping one into a vehicle. When (if) your 4.8 ever blows up let me know and I’ll set you up with a 6.0 lol.
The S10 axle and drum swap for the monza is a direct fit. The v8 monza brakes are the same size as the S10. Usually the only thing you need to do is lightly "clearance" the backing plate in some cases
The backing plate trick is for 76+, 75 had smaller brakes (non-vented in the front most noticeably). The 75 works without issue, if I'm reading my outdated FAQ pages right. I forget the exact numbers but it should be a straight drop in despite the 1/16" difference in axle length.
Best day to go to the yard? If you’re asking because of crowds that really hasn’t been a problem anymore since inflation happened and yard prices tripled. Yeah paying so much more money isn’t awesome but the place is never an annoying zoo anymore. $1600 might be fair for a 6.0 longblock if it’s confirmed to be a runner. Not many guys have a runstand like me though.
Man!!! Some great stuff in that yard! On the second third generation Firebird you have to look up the engine code VIN. “F” is the code for’TPI 5.0.’ I believe “8” is the code for ‘TPI 5.7’. (It’s either “8” or “G”, tbh, it’s been a while since I’ve been seriously involved in 3rdgen “VIN-chasing”) Those TPI parts you were looking at (Throttle body, upper plenum, runners, fuel rails and injectors, and lower intake base with EGR valve ) are worth a FORTUNE! It hurt me so much to see you leave them behind! I haven’t seen a set in a junkyard in YEARS! lol. 😂. I showed that part to my son (Also a Thirdgen collector)and he made a choking sound 😂lol. Guess things are just different a few hundred miles east of you all! In AZ, those TPI parts would be pulled before the forklift finishes setting the car down in the yard! I buy Thirdgen parts and resell them, and finding a set of those again would be like a wet dream. I’m not even sure I could bring myself to actually sell them…. Mmmmm…. Yes, I could. First thing my son asked me: “Where is this? Could we fly, or drive there and get them?” I pointed out how old the video is and he just sighed.
3rd gen f body stuff is very common in the yards here. The TPI is worthless in California due to our smog laws. Get in contact with me and I can let you know what else I find.

Just the ctsv and z06. The LS1 and ls6 are basically identical though. All real differences are fully swappable when building the engine. Heads, cam valves etc. the rotating assembly is effectively identical.

17:48 what are dually rear ends worth complete ?
Dually rear ends are usually cheaper than regular axles. Less people need/want duallys.
If you can`t find the year look on the sticker that they placed on the drivers side rear 1/4 panel .
