    While some people say that this game hasn't age as well, I'd argue that, on the contrary, it's amazing how well it has aged. The minor camera issues are only apparent when you compared to games that were made years latter. Try finding 3d platformers from the era that play as well as SM64 and I can tell you won't find that many. Off the top of my head, I can only think of Bajo Kazooie and Tooie, the Spyro games and Rayman 2. Still, none of those games would have been made without Mario 64 serving as a template. Mario 64 laid the foundations for 3d gaiming, and it's pretty much as good as you remember.

    THE best looking game that came out before April 15, 1997. Period. In the pre-4/15/1997 era, it seemed Playstation or Saturn didn't have anything that could hold a candle to this technically. Of course, the PS would eventually come out with games that looked better than this, such as Final Fantasy IX (11/13/00) and Tekken 3 (4/29/98), but the N64 still remained competitive especially after the memory expansion pack came out in 1999.

    If I had to make a list of my favorite video game endings, this would most likely be #1. Mainly because this ending does what other games either don't do or attempt to do: make the player feel like they accomplished something. Everything from the visuals, the dialogue, and of course the beautiful song all culminating to the line "thank you so much for playing my game" from mario will always bring a smile not only to my face but to others as well. It's an ending that truly feels like the celebration of the hero saving the day and the way mario looks up at the sky right at the player before entering the castle lets us know that we helped him do it, it's his own way of saying thank you without even speaking. This ending is what makes this game so replayable to me and I'll gladly get all 120 stars just to get to this point again and again

    Have you ever noticed at 5:04 you can see Yoshi on the roof of castle?

    • @Onigirli
      @Onigirli 6 лет назад

      Oh wow nice, wonder if he only shows up after you already got 120 stars

    • @yournamegoeshere7584
      @yournamegoeshere7584 4 года назад

      @@Onigirli yoshi only appears at 120 stars, doing a procise triple jump slide onto the castle without the stars only grants you 3 1ups and an empty wing cap box (depends if you unlocked it). only with 120 stars does the game spawn yoshi

    This hits really hard after all this years. Mario was a big part of my childhood, even now that I'm 24 years old.
    Listening to this song brought a tear to my eyes, I remembered when I used to spend hours playing. So fun.
    I got sentimental here! Help!
    Ps: I really, REALLY hope that in the film the credits being like this video (or similar) that after the first song, comes this credit song, and hearing Mario at the end say "thank you so much for to watching my movie". That'd make me cry xDdDdD

      you should give Koshi Kondo the credit for the music, not iwota, he made smash bros

      And Satoru Iwata wasn't the president/executive producer back then. It was Hiroshi Yamauchi.

    I can't figure this out- Ocarina of Time had a much more deep, emotional plot than this game and a bittersweet, coming of age ending but at end you feel accomplished and proud, ready for your next adventure. As the credits roll you know you've done well.
    This game had a simple, cartoonish plot and a cheerful, happy ending. But as the music plays and the credits roll, it feels so nostalgic and sad. It's like you're saying goodbye and leaving a part of you behind.
