Quote from Willie Nelson. There are two sorts of men in this world. Those who are in love with Emmylou Harris .And those who haven't met her yet . Amen
great quote!
@@mikerucker5971far be it from me to correct the great Willie Nelson, but there is a third kind of man, who thinks Jimmie Dale is a stone cold fox.
😂😂aveva ragione ❤
Willie grew up with heifers as girlfriends…go figure!
Is it just me or is EmmyLou the most beautiful woman ever?
Bob Parsons, take a look at Alison Krauss sometime.
Sorry Trevor, it's Emmylou all day and all night over the very pretty Alison. She's 13 years older than me and has been taking my breath away for 30 years!
Nope
Emmylou and Joan Baez :-)
Emmy lou.."Je ne sais quoi"
It's just wonderful to watch people singing and playing AND smiling because they love it.
Also Gillian and David are amazing and perhaps the most underrated performers ever.
Yes, indeed...
And Jimmie Dale Gilmore “Smokey”
You’ve got that right!
When Emmylou covers a song, she makes it her own. "Pancho and Lefty", "Till I Gain Control Again", "Leaving Louisiana In the Broad Daylight", "2 More Bottles of Wine", "Tonight the Bottle Let Me Down", "The Queen Of the Silver Dollar", "Sweet Dreams", "Together Again", "Mama's Hungry Eyes", "Today I Started Loving You Again", "Every Grain of Sand", I could go on and on. Nobody does any of those songs any better than Emmylou. She didn't write them but she made them her own. Bob Dylan said he thought her version of "Every Grain of Sand" is among the best of any of his songs that somebody else has recorded. When you think almost every country, rock, folk and blues singer and band has recorded at least 1 Bob Dylan song, so, to be considered one of the best versions of one of his songs is quite an honor. Emmylou knows how to get to the heart of a song and make the listener feel what she's singing, that's for sure. She's a real soul singer. I am grateful that I was alive a young adult the same time as Emmylou Harris when she was turning a generation of rock fans on to country music, like nobody else.
Michael Hittson
You forgot the best one I’m Moving On.
She is the Best. Love to hear Emmylou sing. God bless ALL
Very well said Vagabond. I'm a few years older than her and saw her singing folk music at a bar in Washington back in 1972. She was unknown back then. A short time later she hooked up with Gram Parsons and sang duets with him in his band called Fallen Angel's. Emmy recorded with him on his only 2 albums with her. He died later that year and Emmylou went out on her own a year later and recorded her album Boulder to Birmingham which was a tribute to her mentor, Gram Parsons. I have followed her and loved her all these years since. She is a one of a kind woman to match her musical talent.

Noone even mentioned Steve Earl is on stage.. one of the greatest musical-poets of our time!!! Steve rocks!!
and jimmie dale gilmore too ...
James Whitworth And aparantly someone 'forgot' to switch his mike on too ...shame. Agree with you, buddy: Steve's the Story Teller for shure.
he was pretty good on the wire as well
His son is damn good too!
Justin Townes Earle
My Uncle just attended a camp with Steve Earl about a month ago. He was so stoked!
🌸💃💜 We are in 2021 and it is always a pleasure to listen to Queen Emmylou Harris 💟. I love.👍
Tears and smiles
One of the greatest songs ever recorded! The Band's "The Weight!"
I agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes~~one of the towering achievements of 20th Century popular music
It’s got “anthem” quality and soul!!!
Brilliant. And a play in words that goes over most heads 👀
The weight of the wait.
Emmylou Harris is still beautiful !!
This group of artists did an awesome job with this song !!
Emmylou is 72 and still beautiful as ever from Canada.
i thought she was from Birmingham AL
She was born in Birmingham, the comment was comming from Canada. She lives in Nashville now.
@@tomtorrell8019 Punctuation counts! "It's time to eat, Grandma" vs "It's time to eat Grandma."
Emmylou, like Stevie, is a timeless talent possessing eternal beauty!
The contributions that Emmylou has brought to the wide stage of musical talent l don’t think can be measured she’s beyond all the great compliments we can think of at this point. She’s one genuine soul for sure!!!
Inspirational to see Gillian play with Emmylou. Tears every time.
One of my fav song by some of my fav players. I NEVER get tired of this song no matter who covers it.
He's probably one of the most influential singer/songwriters around! Steve Earle.
all because of the GREAT LEVON HELM......………...
Levon was a pretty good singer and was fortunate to have had the genius of Robbie Robertson who wrote this classic number leading The Band.
I love this story, this song and Emmylou.
I love this song, the passion this song generates for any singer or listener is almost beyond compare - this song always makes me think of Levon Helm with such joy.
The Band- 'The Weight'...One of the Greatest Songs EVER. This is not The Band but there is nothing wrong with a group sing of a great song :)

Another little gem. Jamming by some fab musicians. Emmy at her at its best. Just golden.
This song is like one of Shakespear's plays, it can take a hell of a beating and still survive!!!
'Tis a consummation devoutly to be wish't.
They really beat the shit out of that song
Perhaps the greatest impromptu sing along ever. Shear talent all the way across the stage!
...the song is my anthem... and I can listen to anyone singing it... and I have heard many, many people give it a shot...no, it will never die...My best to you Miss Fanny...
I'm so enjoying listening to this group sing the songs together on stage. They all are so good!
if I had only one song to listen for the rest of my life it would be this one
yes as long as its the one from The Last Waltz
Daves I agree, when Mavis sings, I get goosebumps.
Unbelievably beautiful. Wish I was there right now. So much talent together on that stage!
Love it.
Smiles says it all
RIP Levon Helm
i was fortunate enough to be here this day, as a volunteer, and to see and hear this again is a real treat. Thank you. Hearts Soaring Like Eagles.
John Orr that’s AWESOME!!! You experienced something special for sure!!! 🍻🍻🍻
If I could only love this more.
emmy lou still beautiful
Makes me want to fire up my old truck and hit the road. This is a great version and it gets me in the mood to go out a try to find that elusive dream.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Emmylou seem to have this much fun on stage.
She also looked pretty happy singing with Gram Parsons on their tour together.
There's a fabulous clip of Little Feat, with Lowell, doing Dixie Chicken with Emmylou and Bonnie Raitt doing BV's. Really! Emmylou is clearly having a grand time but has the air of a Sunday school teacher who's wandered onto the stage by mistake.
Like Gillian & Dave in matching outfits, hell, they're so well matched in every other way
Those are "nudie suits", named for their creator, Nudie Cohn. And ... can anyone confirm/deny that the fiddler stage-rt is Heidi Andrade of Reeltime Travelers, now known as Heidi Clare?
All in good spirits, but it sure makes you appreciate Levon Helm.
Not as much passion as I would prefer. They are just phoning it in. Ole Levon could make you tear up when he sang this song. Viva the memories and music of Levon Helm and the other members of The Band that have passed from this crazy world.
@@sartainja There was a female who sang this in the late 60s..can't remember her name. At the time, I thought it was better than The Band's version.
They’re having fun and showing respect at the same time. Lighten up.
@@brandaanderson1673 Gayle McCormick ?
@@brandaanderson1673 Aretha sang it, I thought very well, not sure if that's who you have in mind.
a fabulous rendition ! fabulous
The Devil's Right Hand, Johnny Come Lately, Copperhead Road, Guitar Town, Galway Girl, My Old Friend The Blues to name but a few!
Beautiful ❤️
Thank you, kindly. Love everything about this one. A lot of love.
Great version of this wonderful song!!! Thanks for posting!!!!
Jackie De Shannon did the best Version
Did justice to the Levon, he can't be beat
Powerfull and spirited!👍
Listening to this never gets old. Dave Rawlings makes love to that guitar like a pro!
oh god thank you, thank you, thank you for this. Precious. Totally Precious !!!
Levon loves you .
Loveee this. absolutely joyous.
Theres no one like Emmylou!
LOVE THIS !!!
OMG thank you for this!!!
god bless Danko- one of my fave tunes of all time!
R.I.P. Levon Helm
Never will be another one like him ,still think about him go gently my friend, we were friends who just never met. c ya on the other side when we meet forever.
Levin the Angelic
LEVON
Gillian rocks!
Quite Awesome collaboration!!! Thank you for posting this!!! 😚☮
Love love it!!!
awesome redux--lotta talent up on that stage!!!!!!
Love the matching outfits of David Rawlings and Gillian Welch! It's just good to see them all on stage together-doesn't have to be "the Best"!
They are so reminiscent of the old Nudie suits so popular with country performers and those who had multiple feet in several ponds.
this was such an amazing show!!
Great version. Thanks.
such joy!
i agree, but seeing so many old favorite singing and playing together- touches the heart :)) Old and Young
This song and,"I wasn't born to follow" by the Byrd's Two of the greatest songs ever
Beautiful and gorgeous and great singer ❤
This is what havin' fun jammin' looks like!
This is fantastic!
A great line up for
A great song 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🌈✌🏼
What an amazing concert that would have been!
I love that.
enjoyable watching all the musicians and their string instruments. . . I don't seek out this music. . but it might be one of my favorite versions of an incredible song
You're in for a world of discovery- Steve Earle's a legend. Used to be a friend of the late great Townes Van Zandt. Another gem of a songwriter. If you haven't already discovered Guy Clark, he's another of my favourites. Texas produces a hell of a lot of great songwriters! Enjoy!
velvetunderpants44 The Holy Trinity of Singer/songwriters
@@robertsmyth4998then you add in Robert Earl Keen, Lyle Lovett, Waylon, and one of my favorite writers: Kris Kristofferson. “I’d trade all my tomorrows for one single yesterday” - I’d die happy if I wrote one thing that good.
And Blaze Foley!
Awesome...I'm luvin' me some Ketch!
The Band Always
so good
"Country Blues"
I saw the Dave Rawlings Machine (with Gillian Welch, natch) at the Ryman a few weeks ago. There were several notable musicians in the audience that night, including John Paul Jones, Sting and Emmylou. The second encore was "The Weight", which I watched while standing next to Emmylou near the exit doors. It was a very cool moment for me and this certainly takes me back there.
Lucky You. I Love Emmy!
wickedmrpickett all freemasons. Steve Earle is the least talented by far compared to the formers' mentioned.
Dave Rawlings and Gillian Welch are one of the most beautiful musical duos I've been lucky enough to hear, The Way That It Goes from the Harrow and The Harvest is an amazing example of their talent.
Bonnie raitte
I saw John Paul Jones play mandolin with the Dave Rawlings Machine.
Emmylou was at the last Waltz
The greatest concert ever
Model a not at Winterland, Robbie mentioned to Martin Scorsese no gospel or country at the Thanksgiving concert,
Martin borrowed a soundstage used by MGM for big musicals, they reconvened with The Staples Singers to record The Weight and Emmylou and Levon Helm doing a duet with Evangeline, both were added to the the best rock movie ever☘️☘️☘️🎸🎸🎸
@@robertsmyth4998 thanks Rob. Levon Helm said because Scorsese was so high on coke, he'd be talking so fast Levon couldn't even understand what he was saying.
I fell in love as she sang “Evangeline” and never recovered.
I have that DVD. She was just an 18 year old kid then. She looked scared to death, but the talent was obvious.
Nope...Joni Mitchell
The anthem of our generation, ya!
Great!
This song ought to be made the second national anthem of America! Emmylou Harris is the eternal diva.
A lot of Canadians see this song as a national anthem as well since it was written by Canadian Robbie Robertson who penned much of the creativity The Band generated.
well damn, everybody's up there!!!!!!
Love YOU Emmy Lou!
ELH is all "I'm doing this and Im gone...." Awesome
Jimmie Dale Gilmore too, awesome.
I can only dream about what it would've been like up on that stage jamming on one of the best-ever rock songs with this amazing line-up. If I could've chosen where to be on stage, I'd have been unable to chose between being next to guitar giant Buddy Miller or next to David Rawlings with that unbelievably beautiful- sounding 30's Epiphone.
pretty sure the boys would love this arrangement and join in. betting garth would enjoy sitting in.
ThE WEIGHT,I want enjoy!
very nice!
goosebumps!!!
THEY ONE AND ONLY EMMYLOU HARRIS
Boy, that was some mighty fine a-pickin' and a-singin'.
its nice to see this is still going on in 2012
